Great video, Frank! My opinion of Toronto is that, generally speaking, many things are a race to the bottom. Too many people going after too few things, that mostly are not really worth what they cost in the end. Maybe it’s a thrill for some people, and that’s fine, but as one gets older, the prestige behind things tend to wear off. Simplicity often trumps ‘bigger and better,’ especially starting in your 30s. Though, it is better than most places in SW Ontario for some professions because the pay is more commensurate with the cost of living than in places that pay half as much, but the rent is only like $500 cheaper. In conclusion, and this is just my own personal sentiment: Toronto is a game where the prize is often not worth the cost. So, the only way to really win is to not play.
Totally agree with your take, Tylor - detaching from playing the “game” is itself a peace of mind. I’m even finding it in myself the ‘bigger/better” things in Toronto starting to fade vs when I was 18. Guess it’s all part of the learning process for something better. Thanks for watching and commenting man!
@@FrankHuynh thank you , my dad and dad's side still think I'm crazy for wanting to move out of Toronto. I've lived at home with the family here so I never saw a need to rent especially with the prices but home or condo ownership became so out of reach here
I bought 30 minutes away from Montreal international airport. Still able to enjoy a big city and good price 😄. in Toronto you’ve have to have rich parents to buy
we were renting at bloor and dovercourt like 10 years ago and my mother in law came to visit from Calgary. We got off the subway and were walking to our place and I remember her asking "do you live in a ghetto?" haha
@@FrankHuynhI have a feeling that with the higher expenses i'm hearing about it may not be really worth it to move to Calgary even though their real estate is cheaper.
I miss the old Toronto! Cost of living was much less, less traffic, no high rise condos blocking out the sunlight & friendlier people. I love the diversity & entertainment.
Sounds like you noticed the changed throughout the year. It's funny when I drive at night I sometimes think.. this non-traffic would be nice if it was the whole day lol.
Frank, can the work you do potentially be done from anywhere in the world if you move from FTE to contractor? After a few decades enjoying downtown, i left. Its good for people to experience it when they are young. With time the allure wears off, and your priorities / needs / wants change. Glad you are having fun and taking advantage of the things Toronto has to offer. I've always enjoyed interacting from people from Manitoba, Sask and Alb. Don't let Toronto warp you.
I do have some flexibility, but I prefer stability with FTE right now. Giving real estate a go will be my 'litmus' test with a more risky career path. I hear ya - ppl from prairie provinces got a certain vibe lol. Thanks for commenting and watching too!
I think I would enjoy living in Toronto. I love big cities with good food, diversity and Transit Can't wait to watch videos about your real estate journey!
About traffic, only Toronto and I believe Montreal actually have a traditional subway system . So it looks good by Canadian standards but bad by worldwide even just NA standards.
@@FrankHuynh yep, I am moving to the national capital region soon from Toronto. They have an above ground LRT I think it just has 2 lines and I hear the tracks commonly freeze or something. Such a joke, coming from Toronto I almost view their transit as the equivelant of a Toronto Suburb like a York Region YRT or something. And I have a car, I pretty much realize and it is scary but if my car breaks down I am pretty screwed lol
Toronto is 630.2 km² so even without traffic, it takes a while to get from A to B. Some people just don't understand how big Toronto alone is not to mention GTA/GTHA. People also don't realize that as under populated as Canada is, Toronto is the 2nd largest city in the eastern seaboard so it comes with all the baggage for sure.
what's your good/bad about the city?
It's not the city but the people
Some people get along well with others or it might depend on their mood I'm guessing
@@JustinQuaid-u8v how one is feeling def factors into it

Weather is important - sounds like you're living in a much warmer place, nice!
Great video!
Thanks Zack 🙏
Where is your new cagalry video
Still in the works, been busy last few weeks. Got a new vid Monday, but not Calgary related unfortunately! Thx for the reminder tho
You had moved to Calgary a few years ago, isn't it?
yup!
felt that its a go go go, network network, raw raw, dog eat dog mentality in Toronto if your trying to grow your career.
yup, very much a climb the corporate ladder mentality. I feel it works if you have your own business that you're trying to scale.
I think I would enjoy living in Toronto. I love big cities with good food, diversity and Transit
Can't wait to watch videos about your real estate journey!
I think you would as well. Yup its coming - been busy studying these last few weeks
Always a good time to buy and a good time to sell. Never trust a realtor completely, just find the one you trust the most
a trusted realtor is important!
