BIG Rust Hole Repair FJ62 Land Cruiser

- Fixing the rusted out bottom of the back quarter panels on the FJ62 Land Cruiser was a mental hurdle for a while. We toyed with the idea of using old metal/aluminum, but couldn’t convince ourselves we had the skills to make it look legit. But when we found these replacement panels online, we grabbed a rivet gun, some adhesive, a little fiberglass and somehow got this part looking like new!

Whooooooaaaa, dude! Way to go for it! Your inspiring me big time on my wagoneer project. Love all old SUVs. Especially waggys and cruisers.
Amazing! I love old 4WDs too. I’d extend it out to the Scouts and the old defenders as well. If I won the lottery I’d have waaay to many!! 😂
I hope you get your Wagoneer all sorted!
You did a great job! I have Gx 470 that is rusting. Said note. You are one good looking man!
Sofia and I laughed very hard at this message! I appreciate the side note!! Haha
NYC and rust just seem to go hand in hand.
Looks awesome! Just acquired a fj62 with very similar rust spots how did you manage to hide the rivets??
Hi! I put the rivets all along one row on the curve of the body line. I then used a very fine layer of fibreglass to hide the rivets. Honestly though as good as it looks I’d have probably just saved my money and done a rear quarter chop if I was doing it again. I saw them checking out a truck on the ‘MrLandcruiser’ UA-cam channel where they’d done that and it looked really good!
HI Nomad, where you get the panel's from? i have the same problem
Hi Luis! We’d recommend Trail Tailor for these but he’s sold out. You can grab them from Cruiser Corps: cruisercorps.com/products/quarter-panel-rear-patch-right
While you’re fixing these though another cheaper option is to do what the guys from Mr LandCruiser in Australia did. They actually chopped the quarter panel off and welded a flat bottom on it. The video that he talks about it is here: ua-cam.com/video/qyt4g9ILRxE/v-deo.html
