Wow! This was so helpful and motivating. I have a small back up storage pantry (on rotation) in our garage that I started a few years back and so I will be getting back to it!For me with inflation climbing it’s been harder to buy extra but your suggestion of 2-4 extra cans is doable! I just put some mason jars in my instacart order to rid some of the plastic packaging for my pastas and grains. 😊 I know, I can save on that and buy more food however, I do worry about the toxicity of plastic especially in the garage where it gets pretty hot. Plus, it’ll preserve on the shelf longer. Also, nicer presentation! ☺️ Thank you for sharing Stephanie! Any more tips is greatly appreciated! 💞
Plastic isn’t the best stored long. We use our sauces and I buy more. That’s why I put my seasonings in the jars.
The smaller storage area is insulated so we don’t worry about the heat. It doesn’t get that hot in that area. As for where we store our can goods, it’s best to keep rotating and keeping track of dates.

If you give unused things to your animals than it isn’t wasted. The animals give back to you and that is wonderful!

Foods Stay Better,Longer @ Constant Lower Temperatures.
The smaller area is insulated and we have a door on it. The area we have cans is heated when needed. We have never had problems with temp.
We keep our garage door shut most of the time.
The heat in the garage is to keep our fridge and freezers working through winter when it’s cold.
But before we added heat, we would have had problems.

We don’t keep that in our garage area!
It’s in the kitchen are in snack drawers and higher cabinet for our cereal.
Plus I do spray around our house to prevent bugs.
And we have chickens that control most of that in other areas of our yard.

Love the way you store your food. In 2020 the stores I went to didn't have bare shelves with the food . Just the toilet paper. I have a stock pile of toilet paper. Had to go to Walmart at 7 am and stand in a line at my Walmart for toilet paper and one time I went with a friend and we were standing in line and all of a sudden I felt sicker than a dog and felt like I was going to pass out and had to go to the floor and sit. I broke out into a cold sweat. The cashier had another employee get one of those riding carts and my friend got me a soda and the cashier and employee helped me on the riding cart and my friend told me he would take care of toilet paper and to go down to side where the red box and games are and sit there on cart. Anyways he got the toilet paper taken care of and brought the cart next to me and I held onto it. And hoped no one would come up and try to take our toilet paper away from us. My friend did his grocery shopping and I just waited on the cart. Some lady got nasty with me about the cart and wanted it. I explained to her I was waiting on the pharmacy to
open up so I could get my meds and I almost passed out and couldn't get off cart. She was walking just fine too . Just giving me a hard time. Anyways after resting and drinking soda I got to feeling better and my friend came back and had his groceries and pharmacy was now open so I rode the cart to pharmacy and got my meds. Called a cab and my friend loaded everything into cab. I had to ride cart to cab and my friend helped me in and he took riding cart back in. He unloaded everything when we got home and helped me to my home and brought my toilet paper in and then I laid down and rested for awhile.
Anyways I have a good pantry and I have a shelf under my table that is another pantry for me. I keep well stocked up and my freezer is full. I go through once a week and check for expired food and I keep my pantry clean. I wish I could chest freezer but I live in apt and can't have that. I enjoyed your video Stephanie and very happy you and your family have plenty of food.

You do what you can for you, sometimes we have to do what works.
I know ppl that will store food all around their house just so they can have it on hand.
