You can use items past their best by dates. Don't waste food, one day you won't have it. We are headed for really hard times, worse than the Great Depression of the 30s. Stack it to the rafters!!! Not a joke...

We don’t waste any food around here. Some items are just not good (taste or finished product after baking) past their date. Thankfully, that’s mot the case for most foods!

We are ok.... 1980 was the same econ 101 pattern and hoarders wasted billions saving foods...also note the prices were the same as 2008 on everything...that's 15 years then hoarding, mergers, crop loss, we are coming back to a slightly elevated price...that is normal it's 2023 the farmers, truckers, industry was stagnate low wages..people need paid. I'd rather pay 15 years later than it increase small amts every 2 years. Please keep enough for you, donations, and for up to 4 extra people if they come into your life- donate that amt if not. Don't get anything you don't eat, never buy bulk fad emergency kits these are unfortunately never used and wasted food. Bulk up yes, but realize how you eat and know you are ok. God said no stone unturned you can't keep anything Jesus will provide love, support, food. Never be scared by headlines prepare but always shuck the whole pantry every 2 years.. donations are needed abd you need to give as charity to help with your mental state. There's still good in this world have that plan, get a solid loving church, and you will be awesomely fierce helping others. See a church counselor about any fears they have seen it all and help people with nothing. You have something it's called a giving spirit asking the church counselor how you can help them every month may be the best for idle worrisome hands & hearts. It's your fear of the past abd God needs you to be able to tell your story to those younger who need encouragement feeding a family. Get those words out, now many people won't listen but it helps to be a voice or guide, and to know I just need this much and God will help me help you. Groups are very important as in ww1 & 2 & Korean War we needed extra food, and extra work to unbusy our minds that was true learning as most people knew nothing of spiritual and mental needs we need those to. So get out there and find where you can make a difference. If it's just phone calls friending up and encouraging church members that's true work, if you have ability to made bundles for soldiers, or widows, or new baby's do so. If you can assist a church group- charity by recipes, knowledge let that be known to a pastor or priest. Find like minded people all will be there in Jesus's world as king get to know all of them now. He's your brother God is your father help his family and yours get thru this world with a giving heart, a get to know you attitude, and not a scared worry because this fog that turns everybody's head in anger is from Satan and he's mad, it's his last days and he was God's favorite everybody is upset by that he understand hatred, pain, losing a friend. Rely on him please and God bless your week. ❤ praying that you reach out to your church who needs your spark.

Many are claiming that the newer Ball jars dont hold up to freezing or even pressure canning the way the older jars did; ampnd still do. I have also looked at the new, smooth walled Ball jars (still in the box, still in the store) and they look much thinner than the jars from within the past 5 years. They also dont have any of the greenish tint which has been lessening over the years.

For mushy canned carrots, use the fluid to make pastas, rice, and as a soup/ stew base; adjust the recipie's salt depending upon how much salt is in the carrot liquid. Puree or mash the carrots and use them in banana, apple sauce, or pumpkin quick bread recipie; adjust the leavening ingredients in an apple sauce recipie because carrots have less acid. If in doubt, add spice more along a spice cake or well spiced pumkin pie; as in more spice rather than less. - Back in the day, Jannuary was canned food month with sales and i would get at least 1 can of peas and a coiple of csnne of csrrots to have a well balanced shelf. Every January the peas went to the food bank and the carrots became something; then i decided to simply skip them.

Chickens love cereals, oats, baking mixes with corn bit of a treat. We've also used them in dog food either cooking them up adding veg, fruits ground things. Dogs, goats, and chickens love treats...and chickens love scratcher grain mixes. Finding puffed rice they go wacko wild. Always donate to a church, blessing boxes on street corners for food before expire..but after a chicken goat and dog..well the shelf life is set by the presidents orders every 4 years evaluating certain food sold by dates. He gives his recommendation to the federal, military storage and then it trickles into mfg. That's why you can have the same can made by date and different sell by dates if a new president comes into power. Most people don't know that...but sell by is just recommended date for peak freshness. If people see issues they write it in the memo and the administration decides go out 6 months more as farmers can adjust crop losses etc.

Secondly the disposal of empty packages could tip off people scavenging to the fact that there was a food source nearby so what do you do with the empty containers once you’re done with them?

You should check the label in your peanut butter. The Sam’s club brand contains palm oil, which I know some folks say isn’t great for you.

Thank you! It does contain palm oil but palm oil is extracted from the fruit, whereas palm kernel oil is a seed oil, extracted from the seed or kernel. It’s definitely not as beneficial as avocado oil or olive oil, but it’s definitely better nutritionally than seed oils. Definitely important to read our food labels!☀️
