It's a policeman that pointed out that I need help through my physician. I still have a long way to go, however I am greatful to videos like this. It help me also.
Thank you, Michael, Dr. Springer, and Mission 22 for addressing this critical issue. I can relate on so many levels - as a veteran who spent 18 months in combat zones caring for patients as a Army physician, Colonel, casualty of depression, a tough guy who suffered in silence for several months. It’s vital that we get this message of of hope out to our brothers and sisters who struggle alone. Who mistakenly believe asking for help is a sign of weakness and will derail their careers. The cost of not getting help is immense and has been paid with far too many lives. Please, don’t suffer in silence one more day. Go get help. I did and I’m so glad I didn’t wait any longer.
The stigma needs to end. The injury caused by seeing, feeling, smelling. hearing, and tasting the traumatic incidents takes a toll. We need to shine light on the dark side of the job. In this video I heard "I kept putting myself into dangerous situations because I didn't want to be here anymore." At the time I didn't realize I was doing that. I went to things that deeply I knew could kill me but my thoughts weren't apparent at the time. The job takes a special person to do, and these special people who do somethings others can't need to be supported not stigmatized. PTS an injury and many times it is job related, the job should take care of not only the physical injuries but the mental ones as well.
Becoming a Beacon of Light comes from having been in the darkness. Thank you so much for becoming a light for others. May God Bless all your efforts. 🙏🤝✨
Thanks Mission 22 for posting a great video. I am a MI Army vet that deals with PTS on occasion but I'm not ashamed to speak on it. I know that I am loved and I can come to those that I love for help. If you are a vet please reach out to those that love you and you love. God bless you all
It's definitely rough at times. The job isn't for everyone. I wouldn't wish the things I've seen or have to deal with on anyone. It can be very dark at times, especially when you're dealing with PTSI, from the things you have gone through. There needs to be more help without the fear of backlash. Great video! Thanks for sharing. 🙏🏻🚔👍🇺🇲
Thank you for posting this Mission 22. Not just great information, but addressing the silent outcry for help by our fellow first responders/military which continues to be at an all time high. Don't stay silent. Reach out to your peer support team, friends, family, professionals or whoever can help guide you on your journey to wellness. Thank you for sharing Michael. God bless.
Michael and John, you are representing the Hero's Journey that, because of your willingness to open up and be vulnerable to the TRUTH , goes beyond the magical-thinking fantasy where the lone-wolf walks off into the sunset unaffected by the experiences they encountered. This is how we bring awareness, this is how we create change and it is the bravest action a Hero can take in my humble opinion. Respect, deep bow and I will be sharing this incredible act of service with my community.
You mean you lost your brother to Antidepressant-induced suicide? Who would have thought they would subject our own troops to an MK Ultra program! They ask for help & all they are given is a drug-induced nightmare with the drugs ordered by the CIA (Antidepressants) to replace the LSD Congress banned from their first round of MK Ultra! It is a crime beyond belief to do this to our own troops! And I pray they face a military tribunal for it ASAP! These so called "medications" produce overwhelming cravings for alcohol in those who have never drank & then compulsive thoughts of both suicide & homicide - both listed side effects to these damnable drugs! And they do not warn how strong those reactions can become as you try to get off the drugs or even if you forget to take a pill. I have spent 30+ years warning that tapering EXTREMELY SLOWLY is the only way to safely withdraw from these drugs.
Mike thank you for sharing great video thank you for your service and sacrifice I'm glad you found a way to help you and help others ptsd sucks I know exactly what you mean glad you found a way out and you are helping others thank you
Amazingly true. There is a song I'll pm you that I used. All my LEO'S I needed to help when S hit the fan wow. Nobody ever admitted a damn problem unless we drank and then all our mouths opened. Shouldn't have to be that way but that was unfortunately the mechanism we could speak openly
What could possibly happen if you raise your hand and ask for help? What could possibly happen if your don't? Sugrue not only shares his story but bravely raises his hand and gives permission to others to do the same.
I came across this video thinking this guy was fired for shooting a bad guy. But it's a self pity film. Dude. You're a cop. You shoot people. You bad brotha!
