To me this is the type of video you do. Though I am a Disney History Buff myself and was a Disney Imagineer, life is more than Disney. The way you document your adventures is a real view of the countries and places you go. It's not a high budget History Channel show. Though that is fine and I watch the History Channel too, you tend to bring it to a personal level. Thank you very much. Keep up the good work and safe travels. Hopefully, I can meet up with you in Disneyland as I go very often since I live close by. Thanks again Chris. Oh, and thanks Amanda and Miles for allowing us to share time with your husband/dad. Oh, another idea.....lol...I have lots....it would be cool to have Miles do a short review of his favorite ride or adventure. Thanks again....Phil

I am enjoying this series so much, and Strasbourg is absolutely beautiful! Love the architecture! I think it`s so wonderful that you travel like this, and what an amazing education for Miles. It`s so good for kids to learn different cultures; as you said one isn`t better than the other; just different. If more people had that attitude the world would be a better place! Love from Canada.

Chris you might think not many people are watching these videos, but your explanation and narration are stellar. I got to know PPP from my love of all things Disney, but you are truly gifted and talented at what you do….maybe producing documentaries are in your future??? Thank you for making the world a better place and making me smile every day. Hugs to you, Amanda, and Miles. ❤❤❤

Wow!!! That was AWESOME!!!!! If "this" isn't the "kind of videos" you do, then PLEASE DO MORE!!!! We LOVE these adventures of yours, and let's be honest --> MANY of us are "living vicariously" through you/your family/these videos! Many of us will never get to where you go, for ALL of the reasons you mentioned and more! This was truly a blessing to see. And I loved the literal "manpower pulley" you showed us, along with the view! 100% agree with you about travel: we always feel safe, partly because we keep personal belongings belt UNDER our clothes! And yes, when somewhere else, TRY new things and recognize it's not "our" way of doing things so best not to impose OUR way! Love to you all, and may you continue to have safe travels and journeys! Look forward to the rest of your 2024 European Theme park tour!

"Do the touristy things!" a lot of the time, there's a good reason they're the things tourists travel to do! Sure there's people out there trying to take advantage of gullible tourists but if you go to Paris for the first time, go up the Eiffel Tower! I'm quite a fan of the hop-on hop-off tourist buses in a new city, they give you a good overview and help you get your bearings. Yes they're only giving you the shallowest of tours but it makes a good starting point. Also IDK so much about other cities, but in London on a nice summer day you see the parks packed with people - just as many locals as tourists. A lot of those "touristy things" are fun things locals do too!

Park Asterix is based on the conflict between gauls and Roman empire. the Gauls always win because of the magic potion their druid cooks up. there are a lot of comics. The "french looking building " had the label "musee de ville stassbourgh" meaning "museum of the city of Strassburg". The EU parliament stays 6 months of the year in Brussels Belgium and then 6 months in Strassburg. that means that everyone ( politicians, support staff, cabinet workers of said politicians) move from Brussels to Strassburg. Usually when they are in town the prices for rooms skyrocket like it isnt even funny.
Great videos! Everyone should broaden their perspective. Like grandpa said "they can take everything from you expect what you accomplished and visited". Memories, places you visited in the past, the people you were with and so on, they can't take that away from you. Just... be careful you hear. Especially Paris is having an explosion of violence lately.

So nice that you had the opportunity to visit Strassbourg with Amanda and Miles. Actually, the Disney animators used that region for inspiration for movies like Beauty & the Beast (the towns of Eguisheim and Colmar south from Strassbourg are direct inspirations).
To give you a heads up about Parc Astérix:
This theme park is based on the highly popular comic-strips of Astérix by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. The comic is about a tiny village in Gaul (the name of France in ancient times) that successfully resists against the Roman occupation under Julius Caesar. The heroes of the series are warrior Astérix and his friend Obélix (who sells huge stones called menhirs). The village can resist thanks to the magic potion by its druid Panoramix that gives them invincible powers.
Many of the books deal with the Romans' new plans to conquer the village. Or how Astérix and Obélix help other tribes (in various countries) against the Romans. Usually, the comic has lots of references to current-day affairs, but is also in many ways accurate in depicting the Roman times. Part of the comic is the many puns, for instance in the names of the Gauls (all ending with -ix) or the Romans (ending with -us).
Parc Astérix opened its doors in 1989, three years before Disneyland Paris.
The Parc these days revolves about two themes: laughter (for the humor of the comic-strips) and heroism (show strength and courage like the Gauls). That’s why you’ll find many thrill rides in the park and lots of humorous details. The park now has clear zones that refer to specific adventures of Astérix, like the Roman area, the Gaulish village, Egypt, Greece and the Vikings.
An absolute must is to book the Gaulish Banquet (Banquet Gaulois). Every Astérix adventure in the comic-books ends up with a festive meal in the village. At Parc Astérix they close down the village in the evening for a special meal in the open air, with freshly prepared dishes and all typically French. It’s a lot of fun and a full experience with characters. Miles will love it.
Have wonderful time in Parc Astérix!

Dear Provost family. Parc Asterix is based on the famous Asterix and Obelix comic books. They are hilarious. A famous quote is: "Ils sont fous, ces Romains" (phonetic: eel son foo, ses Roamens) (weird boys, those Romans). I think that you as Americans often think: "Ils sont fous, ces Gauls" (weird boys, those French). But you adapt fantastic. (just another piece of information that no one wants) (btw. I treasure my albums for more than 30 years)

It's not a train, it's a tram. 😉 We don't have trains sharing cars or walkers place. Trams are for urbain transportation, like buses or metro.
Almost all Churches are public, because they are own by the state, cities, and Church has just the right to use it, but not all of them. Some just fulfill another purpose now. We separated Church from state long time ago 1905, but the French revolution 1789 was the start of it, people were tired of it I guess 😁, in 1905 is was the officialisation of it. State maintains the building because they are architectural patrimoine, but do not finance the religion, we are laic and proud of it. Ancestors fought to be freed from it. Religion is not that much a thing anymore. Only new churches build with Church founds are theirs. Very few.
I personally see religions as a remain from the past, a folklore, and one of many things invented and used to control people.

Ooh, over ben a couple of times to Parc Asterix. It is in fact older than Disneyland Paris. And started out as a normal amusement Parc before being converted to the Asterix and Obelix theme. (A comic book series based in Europe around the Gaulles and ancient Rome).
Some old attractions of that before time still remain, which is quite jarring.
Not sure how it is today, but 5 years back there was very little written text in English.
Can recommend the show in the theatre in the middle of the park.
    Love the laid-back atmosphere.
    Especially compared to Disneyland.
    Highly recommend.

At least two weeks in advance go to a bank branch and order multiple denominations of the currency of the country you will be visiting. Get an international driver's license. Buy a soft cover guidebook, decide what you want to see. Visit in-person with a travel agent knowing your travel time. Went to Ireland and only two regrets. We cut it too close getting the international driver's license the morning before flying - we should have arrived the afternoon before. Second regret was a dinner/harpist/music in a castle - bad food and just OK.entertainment. Non secured parking and a rental car was broken into - their luggage and passports were gone. Absolutely loved Ireland, The people were so gracious, but not intrusive. I can't explain it, but if you are left-handed, you will take to the driving easily.

This is the good stuff. Theme parks are nice, but the actual places and history of Europe should be learned and explored. I hope Miles is soaking up this culture.

As a certified person living in a place. Doing "authentic" things that locals do consist of getting groceries, going to the handful of restaurants I like, going to the movies or a park, or just stay in and watch a tv show or movie.

This was a great video! It seemed very familiar as it is still showing us where you are just like you do with Disney videos! I so enjoyed the history, it made me google and find out more! The Cathedral broke ground in 1015 and completed in 1439!!! The ending walk up the Cathedral was perfect!!😍🤩🥰

7:39 this is very common for cathedrals of this time and age. Because most people were alliterate, they had to be taught with images. So the cathedrals had central elements of the believe engraved on them. For example the central element is about the main events in the life of Christ. And all around are other smaller "images" adding other stories and knowledge that people should get to know and remember, when they see them.
On the cathedral in Freiburg im Breisgau the main element is about judgment day and the virtues of living a "good" life or damnation of living against the moral code of that medieval time.

I’ve been to Strasbourg, it’s very nice. We stopped there, or near there, on a Viking cruise. We had lunch. It’s very pretty.

I was wondering if this is a stop on the Viking River cruise. I was lightly researching river cruises a couple months ago and this area looked familiar.

If you have time, go to Colmar, a bit South of Strasbourg. So beautiful. I liked it better than Strasbourg.

Traveled around French countryside last year and found most villages have a carousel in the center of town. cute. I loved your description of the two different types of architecture there.

One scam is several people surrounding you and someone ties a bracelet on your wrist. You struggle to get it off as they demand loudly for a lot of money. Screaming you have to pay for this bracelet.

It looks like you are done with the shout outs, and it looks like my husband was skipped again. I reached out to you once before but missed getting back to you because the comments were shut down. My husband is a huge fan but I've had to encourage him to watch the last few days because he is a little sad right now. Which is a big deal because we're planning a trip to Europe. Can we please work together to find his shoutout.
