People like Nikolas Schreck and 1980s tv talk shows had a symbiotic relationship. The standard formula was to have the "villain" guest make outrageous statements; the host would then act incensed and that would then rile up the dumb audience. It was all a show; similar to the bombast of pro wrestling.

Christian Death LPs Burning in 1982 maybe started the first connection between Gothic Rock and Satanism. Nevertheless the lyrics content in Only Theater of pain (and in later releases) goes way deeper into surrealism and is much more subdued. The main difference is that Rozz was more of a TRUE poet...

A bit too, "on the head" for me. The beauty of bands like the Joy Division, were that they did not necessarily realize that they were making, "extremely dark music". You cannot really strive for this and ever realize it. It is a pervading sentiment. It is from something channeled "through" your person. I mean...c'mon, how can you hang yourself when you are at the proverbial, "top of your game" with no ceiling above?!

Way out there in a major way 😆 if those days were the satanic panic days, these are the satanic prime time years we are in now 😆 and shreck was actually about his shit too! And much of what he and his father in law has said about satanism has very well came true about the media being the number one tool to spread their message and the entertainment industries to give your kids and whoever else was gullible enough to join these groups that little push towards the evil they were preaching…

Never take anything TOO serious. Mr. Schreck is doing something called, "Crazy Wisdom." That is, in every culture there is a person (a clown like person) who does and acts out the opposite of what that culture deems as functional. In Comedy dell'arte there is a clown who the actors couldn't see but the audience could, named Harlequin. He cause all sorts of mayhem for the actors. Consider Alice in Wonderland. Mr. Schreck is kind of like the Rabbit/Mad Hatter. I can keep going on. But I'm sure you get the point.

14:45 if you go to that page on the Church Of Satan's website, they're actually debunking the claim that Anton converted to christianity on his deathbed. He did die in a Roman Catholic hospital, but that was because it was the nearest that had a specialist cardiac unit.
As for Nikolas Schreck, it wouldn't surprise me if Marilyn Manson was heavily inspired by him. Brian Warner used to interview people like him, I'm not sure if he ever interviewed Schreck but he's exactly the kind of person that the young Brian Warner would have been drawn to.
Also, there is a rumour that Zeena and Taylor Swift are related or possibly the same person. There is a resemblance but I suspect this is probably bullshit.

Largely because it's cool to see another goth guy (and an 80s one at that) who doesn't shy away from exploring legitimately taboo subjects and who doesn't ascribe to the whole "duuude goth is -totally- exclusively left-wing!' crap which has surfaced in the last 5 years.

I think someone like Nicholas Schreck would have more in common with red candidates of late than blue. Maybe in the past, but one of the GOP's crowning achievements was hijacking the Democratic party as the "party of the people, the working class, the freaks and the weirdos who need bigger government for protections". Now the Democratic Party is just the party of the freaks and the weirdos, but someone like Schreck on a political level is probably interested in less government interference over his life and his activities than more, so if he's not a Trump fan he's definitely a Libertarian.

@andrewbryant6495 well... I must confess that I'm anything but an authority on Mr. Schreck. Prior to watching this I only had the vaguest conception of who he is.
That being said, I think that there is a possibility that my initial assessment may not be 100% accurate and that Schreck was in actuality a very 'brilliant troll' who was 'trolling people' long before 'trolling was a thing'.
      OR...
Perhaps, he was a bit of both. 'Horribly Cringy AND a brilliant troll'.
Those 2 concepts don't have to be 'mutually exclusive'.
I'm very much a 'Jazz Cat' and the 'Fusion Era' from the late '60s to the early '80s holds a particularly dear place in my heart.
One of Jazz Fusions' biggest icons, Frank Zappa was both (imo). He was a 'brilliant troll and satirist' but also a little too 'Cringetastic' for my liking.
Either way... I wouldn't mind digging on Schreck's Music.
This video didn't feature much, but I liked what I heard.
Being of 'Black' and 'Jewish' heritage, I can't exactly co-sign these ridiculous Nazi Tropes that Schreck liked to use.
I'm almost positive that THAT was definitely 'satire', though.

2:06 Esoteric fascism is the purest form of fascism.
