Best looking Honda CRV
These things are troopers. I’ve talked friends who are struggling financially into buying these for daily’s and I’ve never seen one mechanically fail under 300,000 miles with routine maintenance. How can you go wrong with a legendary b series and one of Hondas better automatics.
Steering rack leaks, rusts like crazy, but got 240k out of mine. Loved that car even with its high gear ratios.
These 'problems' are not problems at all if you do regular maintenance and could be applied to any car. What is certain - old japanese cars are 10 times more reliable than any new car.
+@vladavasiljev Thanks for the feedback!
There are more, and very important and dangerous problems, lower ball joint, ( it can cause your tire to disconnected completely if the ball joint break while you drive) it hard to test them but if you hear friction noise while you driving or turning the wheels on the front left or right, definitely the ball joint and you need to change them of cours with genuine one never use aftermarket, because they last only for a few months like mine three months and I had to buy honda ball joint, second problem us pcv valve and its grommet: it can gave you a bad engine performance because of the vacuum leak from an stuck open valve or bad grommet, always change them both every time you do tune-up, they are cheep like 19 dollar both, thies problem is the fast idle valve, sometimes it get loose and allow air to pass even when the car is fully warmup, you need to perform test on it by removing the rubber hose and check if there is suction on the fast idle valve hole when the car is warm up to the proper temperature, if there suction you need to remove throttle body and open the valve and adjust it.
Wow 1999 model and the problems are only seen just now....just wow😂😂😂
I’ve got one of these. 2000 AWD 5-Speed Manual with 190K. I’ve had all these problems except for the oil consumption. Still not leaking or burning oil. OEM parts for things relating to body, brake, and suspension are getting harder to come by. Another issue: the fresh air intake is too low to where when you go through the automatic car wash, water will not channel properly, thus, filling into the fresh air intake and you’ll find water leaking into your passenger floorboard.
We bought a 2001 brand new, it has 245,000 on it .interior is immaculate, exterior is like new, original engine, trans rebuilt 7 years ago. Everything works. no complaints here.
When did you change the timing belt ? Just bought one 61k miles
@@Mr360mafiya pop the valve cover and check for signs of wear such as cracks or missing pieces. Personally I would recommend replacing it anyway for peace of mind. This is an interference motor and even though personally I’ve never seen these engines break parts when timing belt snaps there is a chance that it can.
These are general auto problems but our wonderful CRVs with regular routine mainteance ONLY need two things to go 300000 plus change the timing belt at 150000 and at that time replace the valve cover gasket as well
Coils are wear out items. Valves are suppose to be adjusted as part of maintaince schedule. I wouldn't call these problems really. If you change your oil regularly you shouldn't have burning issues that's a owner problem, not the cars fault. Just my 2 cents
Sure. Honestly if this is all the common problems, these must be great cars.
@@FlyingV555 They are. My 97 has 225,000 miles on it and it still drives like new. The upholstery has no tears or rips anywhere which is amazing for a 25 year old car.
@@FlyingV555 it’s pretty rare for these vehicles not to make 200,000+
how bout bad gas burn? ( smell unburn gas) i already change oil and filter, adjust valve tapets
Yes ! More Honda CRV videos pls
I could live 200 more years and still hear about Takada air bag recall. How many can really be left at this point?
Here's a problem we can't seem to find. We replaced every component. It starts idles well but when put into drive the cars starts misfiring and loses power. Any idea what the problem could be?
Just got a 2001 awd 161k miles. Hope it's worth it.
First Comment? CHEERS FROM WESTCOAST CANADA!!!
Id say the PGM FI relay iis a big failure poiint, car wiill crank but not start intermiittently also sonetimnes shut off whhiile runing
Es japonesa , no tiene ningun problema! Es un vehiculo excelente y confiable!!!
I have that exact model crv shutting down after 8mins, starts again after 10-20 mins, I need help,,,,
I was told to replace th distributor after it was only a year old? Then the coil--but isn't the coil in the distributor? I have a 2000 CRV and EVERY one of these happened. I did most work myself at a marine DIY shop but timing belt too much 4 me;) aloha from Hawaii
When I go 5mph (very low speeds) and I turn to either side, rpms go down a little and a shaking that feels on the side I’m turning to what could it be?
Heres the problem- the US market complained that the 126hp b-20b engine was underpowered. So for 1999 they bored it out to make 146hp, calling it the b20z. Now the problem is, when they originally made the crv, they took a b20 civic engine and bored it out in the first place to make the b20b. So with the 99-01 crv, the engine has been bored out twice. The aluminum walls are thin and tight, so tight that the valves without adjustment can recede into the head and crack the block. And every time you remove the headcover to adjust the valves, you need a new gasket set. I run mine at the loosest spec parameters. You hear the valves clacking. It comforts me
Great car 24 years old still running.❤
1999 CRV with 200 000 km consume 1 oil liter for 15 000 km., from change to change. Put in 4 liters, and take out 3.
Father I trust in you and your son Jesus. AMEN 🙏
I just removed srs light bulb😅
Got a 99. Bought it with 183000 miles on it and use it for my mail car. Has 284000 miles now, drive 91 miles on a rural route with about 5 miles of dirt roads. No major problems other than stuff just wearing out from running off the road 500 times a day. Biggest issue is brakes, can’t find anyone who can figure out what’s going on with them. Have to pump them to get stopped. Changed the brake booster but not much help.
Saludos, si puedes ayudarme ? Crv 1999 , no prende/ le puse la inicion nueva, el maint relay, pompa de gasolina y no prende, no tira coriente a las bujias.que puede ser?
2000 CR-V 361,000 miles!
I have a problem with overheating Fiat when I put my hand on the thermostat it's cold
+@roderickdcrawford9982 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
i had missfires in my engine in my 1998 honda CR-V which later on found out it was the pistons were done for. So i swapped the engine and put a 2001 Honda CR-V engine in 2023 a year has pass its running like a champ no issues.
So, just to be clear the “common problems” are a Takata recall and general wear and tear that literally every car faces? Are you struggling that hard to make content or was this just an ad for your website?
Correction. The #1 thing that happens to these models is the front subframe rust out do to the AC drip line right above the control arm.
Ballpoints

I hope my English is ok.i own One of these first gen cr-v with 4 AT and ya it got issue.i changed One of the spark plug after the engine exhibits lack in power ..the clogged radiator that requires a new one.the rack/ pinion power steering leakage .the rear wheel that was in negative chamber.jammed seat-belt.a clicking noise on the axle/transmission because of dirty/old ATF.not THAT bad though..since i was a 4th owner of the car.a good mechanic and with some money it will again spark it's charm once again.i still kept the desk.
