    Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for posting this review. My 4-year old Bolen's didn't start today, so I thought I should start shopping for a new mower. I buy a new mower every 3 to 4 years since at around $250 (used to be $179-199) these are basically "throw-away" mowers. I do change the oil every year on my mower. One time I spent $60 to have a $149 mower tuned up, but then only lasted a year. That's when I realized it is best to buy a budget mower and then get rid of it every few years when it breaks. I mow a few acres every 2 weeks with the push mower (good exercise - friends and neighbors think I'm nuts - but I won't overturn on a riding mower!) I have never seen such cheap wheels on a mower, so I am so thankful to see this review. Knowing that YardMax won't warranty the wheels is a big red flag for me since I mow everything in my path on my rural property (Grass, brush, the occasional rock, etc.) If you don't get satisfaction from the manufacturer, I would complain to the retailer that sold you the mower. And, FYI, I filled out the support form on the YardMax website and include the link to this video. I let YardMax know that, based on your review, I will NOT buy their product.

      I agree, mowers of this size used to last almost forever!!! The engine is still going strong but I finally had to replace the other wheel as well. Thanks for watching and sharing this video with YardMax. Below are my two updates. Just wanna say, you've come a long way over the years. I'm just really glad you don't hold your phone anymore, especially with a phone or camera that doesn't have anti shake stabilization technology. lol. You've gotten much better at speaking as well, not to mention video editing. Keep up the good work!

    It runs at a fixed high speed. When the blade hit a tree stump, it cracked the oil pan/crankcase, and it is leaking oil crazy. I've been lawn mowing 45 years and all other mowers just stop spinning under same situation. it is just a year old. Other cons I have are - high gas consumption, gas evaporating away while sitting(never have I seen this before), Rubber flap making backup impossible. It requires a 2-3 primer pushing every time I re-start it. Big wheels catching the low lying branches are annoying too. Pros are as mentioned in the video. I was positive until oil leak.

      @lendermanshop  Рік тому

      Thanks for your in-depth comments. It seems that no push mower has an rpm adjustment and is fixed. Very sad about the crankcase. Interesting observation about the gas evaporating, I had not considered. I take the rubber protector off of all my mowers, but I also where safety glasses!! Thanks for watching.

    I'd keep any eye on the other rear wheel - inspect for hairline cracks - and I'd replace both now with something from HD or even Walmart. My push mow time is like yours , about 2 hours. Still using my 18 year old push Craftsman 21" with a big Briggs motor. I keep waiting for it to die, and it smokes momentarily when I start it now. I think I'll pass on the Yardmax and opt for a Honda push, not self-propelled (big bucks and hard to find) or one of the MTDs (Troybilt, Cub Cadet, Yard Machine, Craftsman) which all come out of the same factory. If I were you I'd change the oil soon. Looking at what's offered with push mowers, the amount of plastic on them now is very disheartening. I'll buy a spare blade whenever I do buy another mower - that way I can just change it out quickly and always have a spare sharp blade. Thanks for doing the 1 year review.

      I appreciate your feedback and suggestions. I like the Honda's as well but I don't recall seeing a push mower in recent years. Hopefully this one will get me a few more years. I'll have to work on the blade and oil change!!!

    Hard to find a mower with ball bearing wheels. However, your experience, as well as others, makes me think to pass on this mower. I bought a Honda HRX217 and it's a beast. I'm returning it. Very high quality mower but it is not maneuverable around a suburban yard. I have too many things in the way...trees, garden, etc. Maybe I'll go to the Ego.

      I agree, manufacturers are getting away from the very practical, small push mowers. I guess the bigger ones just sell better!. Thanks for watching.

    Hi... I have the YG1650 model of this mower and love it...but.... when I try to crank it, it runs for a second and then stops. I've used it before this season with no problems, fresh gas, etc.
    Figure the carb is clogged, and before I take the thing apart, I thought I'd use some carb cleaner and see if that would fix it. I only have one problem.. I can't figure out how to spray it into the carb without taking it apart.
    I took the filters out, and usually you can just spray it there, but that doesn't seem to be a good port to it. Do you have any suggestions?? Any idea where to spray this stuff?
    Thanks.

      I'm a little late to this comment but maybe try some Sea Foam directly into the gas tank. My generator was running very rough and I added a bit and now it is running fine. Otherwise I think you might need to clean the carb. Thanks for watching, JL.

    I'm looking to buy a gas powered push mower. I'm not sure what to get. Between Mtd selling out to Black & Decker in 2021 and Briggs & Stratton going bankrupt in 2020 it looks pretty dry.
    I'm not finding anything gas powered that was previously built by Mtd which was almost every retail lawnmower in existence.
    I'm seeing these powersmart mowers but they have horrible reviews.
    I don't have over a thousand dollars to spend on a Husqvarna push mower.
    Not sure if John Deere is even making push mowers at the moment.
    I've tried a craftsman battery powered 20v. Besides lasting about 12 feet before it quit working, I wasn't impressed with the build. It was about 90% plastic which includes the deck. The manual had no maintenance section. I'm also not to fond of the built in obsolescence of battery life and continuous model changes.
    I'd like something towards the 190cc range with a decent motor, tires that don't fall apart. A side shoot with a bag and plug option would also be preferable. I'm not fond of the strictly bag models. They clog easily in damp or high grass.
    So, basically a well designed, well built lawnmower. Any suggestions? American made would be nice, but at this point asking for quality at a fair price alone seems like i may as well ask for the moon.

    • @nodak81

      Height won't be even from front to rear, the rears will be half an inch taller. That's why having one lever for height-adjusting all four wheels is stupid. If they had separate levers, he could just lower the rear wheels one notch and it would be close enough. That's assuming that the front wheels are also a weird size, like 5.5 inches instead of 6. If they're a standard size then replacing them won't matter and the height can't be corrected without OEM rear wheels.

    • @23RO
      @23RO Рік тому

      @@nodak81 It has taller rear wheels and the deck sits higher in the rear already. It can sit flat and still get the job done.

      @lendermanshop Actually they gave me a better deal for the crappy wheels they gave me a 2 for one deal, they said you know what keep the New lawnmower with the one broken wheel, we will just send you a whole New one, 2 for the price of one, you cannot beat that! So I told them I'll take it! Lol
      And while the New mower was coming in i went and fixed the broken wheel by ordering a brand new better wheel and now I have 2 brand new mowers!
      I will say though the wheels are trash that can easily be changed out to better bar barron wheels then to use those cheap wheels that they come with, other then that everything else is good to go, and oh one other thing the blade DO NOT come sharpen, you have to sharpen it yourself, at least that's what I had to do...

    Plastic wheels break on all the mowers regardless of the cost or quality of the mower. Then the replacements cost more than the mower is worth. I have a Toro push mower from about 1978 with an aluminum deck and steel wheels. It outlived the engine. Just the opposite now. The plastic shit breaks while the engine is still fine. Plastic wheels, plastic gears in things, plastic auto engine parts and housings. Why do they design things that have to last with plastic. Do they hate us?

    • @lendermanshop
      @lendermanshop  4 місяці тому

      Agreed, my yard has plenty of trees, roots, bamboo stumps, hills and mounds to go over, a mower needs to handle these feats! While it might appear that it broke from someone standing on the deck, I am the only one using the mower and I certainly do not step on the deck. You are correct, I have yet to change the oil but I don't think that has any effect on the wheel. Thanks for watching, JL.

    Lemme tell ya something. STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING CALLED YARDMAX! Chinese junk! I bought a ‘22 around 5-15-23 and used it only about 5-6 times. It is made with extremely cheap components. The plastic knobs for closing and locking the handle broke off. The height adjustment broke off. The front wheel broke as I was using it and the axle came out off place. The plastic for the undercarriage cracked in two requiring its complete removal. That cover the belt and pulleys for the self propel assembly. Needles to say, that can no longer by used. Surprising no engine issues (yet) and it will cut serious grass-provided you have patching up skills. THIS POS IS CHEAP FOR A REASON AND YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR!
