Debt consolidation can make things worse if you haven't resolved what caused you to go into debt in the first place. You will believe that everything is okay now and that you've got more wiggle room for spending.
Lol don't knock on Kia. I'm the proud original owner of a 2010 Kia Forte. It turns 14 years old next month. It has 190,000 miles on it and except for routine maintenance, tires, brakes, etc. it is still running strong. All I can go of off is my experience, and I'd recommend Kia to anyone.

I don't understand why people are shocked by that. Vehicle prices went up big time during corona. $25k a vehicle isn't terrible. You figure they probably paid $28k to $30k brand new for each one. I don't see the big fuss about the price. It is the world we live in. Either you can afford it or you can't. His CC and HELOC debt is more of a concern.
I put my ex through school we lived without one cent of debt I worked three jobs he got out ran up a ton of debt in my name without me knowing filed for divorce and claimed I was the spender 210k in debt !
And this is why DR is against HELOCs. This is also a strong persuasion to not just consolidate debt, because it’s out of sight out of mind + a false sense of having actually accomplished something.
Yet, people still question/make fun of me for NOT having a credit card 😑. I’ve been completely debt free for almost 8 years and have never looked back ✌️
If you can control your life like that, one credit card is a good thing to have. Without one, no plane tickets, no car rentals, no safety cushion for the occasional life taking a dump on you, get you over to next pay day. I'm with you, though. The only debt I have is that monthly CC payoff and my property taxes.(I was lucky enough to inherit enough money to buy a small, solid house eight years ago. )
Only broke people would make fun of someone that is doing good financially. So if they are making fun of you, then you are on the right path. Not using credit cards as a crutch is very hard for many to understand cause they have never been able to handle their money. But people like you prove that people don't need credit cards, they just need to handle their money better and not spend more than they make.
When Dave said they'll be "...selling so much stuff that the kids will think they're next..." made me chuckle but I'm sure Dave means well and I hope this family gets their finances in order.

I paid off my semi last month, I now have almost zero debt, I had little debt before the truck was paid off. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel before having this 1400 a week payment, even with that I was living on way less than I make since I knew what life is like without any major debt. I don’t see myself ever going back into debt, and I can’t believe I was one of those guys who made excuses to just keep borrowing. It’s a sickness and an addiction. I see friends and family who are basically drug addicts but for taking on debt. It truly changes your life when you start the process of detoxing from the stupid crap you try to justify needing, or at least you convince yourself you “need” it. It’s not much different than being a drug addict

The entitlement is BIG with this dude. He just had a bunch of stuff given to him, and his response was "okay". OKAY?! How crazy is that?
When he ask does it scare him... ya. It doesn't he thinks just needs to move some crap around and work itself out. Ive heard scared people they know they need to do it
Agreed, maybe the caler was counting in Dave offering him a free car if the guy would sell his other cars.
It's an overwhelming situation and maybe he was just trying to process it all.
@@SheLoveSports maybe... But probably he's just ungrateful. Thankful people have a built-in response to generosity and gifts.
💯 he’s obese.

I’m 5k in credit card debt, paying 18% interest rate and I’m going insane. I’m paying it off next months but I would never do something like that again. 😅
Been there my guy. Last year I had 2,300 at 29% interest and it's down to $100 now. Interest like that should be criminal
@@PrimalDialga something that’s your choice should be criminal?
@@MrTwonetwone I agree that we should not be using credit cards in the 1st place if we don't have the money in the account to pay for them. But 29% interest is moving up to those payday loan places.
Hey man, I also had 5k in cc debt. To make it worse, I lost my job and my debt snowballed. I paid it off with a lot of difficult. I swear not to use credit cards again.
I've been there. Get another credit card with ZERO PERCENT interest (usually for a year) and do a balance transfer. Then cranck out that debt before the year ends. Make all your payments count!
Honestly, I paid my way though college with minimal debt and after paying for rent, car insurance, books, and tuition for the winter semester I was reduced down to eating peanut butter sandwiches, drinking instant coffee, and ramen noodles for a month. Best financial lesson I ever took in college.
“It’s the family car” They immediately try to justify when they’re not ready to change. They’re one foot in, one foot out. The pain of being in debt needs to be worse than the pain of getting out of debt will be. It’s not painful enough yet.
He is not ready I don’t hear him fired up 🔥
He is thinking they are the victim .
Good luck 🤞
If he says “unfortunately” ONE MORE TIME!!!
Going into debt for a Kia and an Altima is preposterous.
Watching these videos makes me feel really scared for these people. I'm not super rich but I owe nothing to anyone. How do these people get into this situation ?
That line…”the math is not scary…it’s the pattern”… so much hope there 😢. We can CHANGE patterns. Good luck, Caller. I’m in a similar situation. Our numbers are pretty similar. I’m rooting for both of us. Thanks Dave.
OMG! And I thought I was in debt having a $2,500 CC🤦♀️ now is full and seating there just for an emergency, I owe like $97 dollars and the bank keep sending me letters giving advices/tips on how to spend “my money”🤣🤣🤣🤦♀️My husband and I are really on the path to buy our own home🙏 Thanks to this channel, seriously, he started and I support him 101% We don’t know how long is gonna take us but we’ll get there some day🙏We live in a duplex and between other things/changes we pay a cheap rent and that helps a lot🙏PLUS WE’RE NOT INTO BRANDS, WE LIVE SIMPLE & WE’VE NEVER LIVED TO IMPRESS ANYONE. And It keeps me up at night sometimes I can just imagine almost 300k of debt I wouldn't be able to breath. 😵💫
Forty-six thousand dollars in car debt and they’re not even nice cars!
Never live above your means, it’s as simple as that
Love the sound of "ugh" she made once he said "Kia Sorento".
Lol😂😂 value plummeted lol
Kia is a more reliable car brand than it used to be - my paid-for 2011 Sorento is still going strong 😊

This one is really bad.. what a terrible situation
Dave is so generous with his free help to this guy and he still hesitates when asked if he will promise to change. 🤯
This guy ain't ready to change
I hate to doubt people but I agree. You can hear callers get emotional in their voice and say, “I WANT OUT!” This guy, however, acted like he’s already thinking about buying the new iPhone coming out in two months with borrowed money 😑
There’s at least a jet ski if not a whole boat, a storage facility full of crap, and fancy steak dinners are weekly.
47k in credit cards is 1k of monthly interest alone. Impressing people who doesn’t really care about you will put you in this place.
It was approx double that. They paid off credit cards with a HELOC.
@@kevind8752 yipes. traded one debt for another, though less interest
No it’s not $1k internet a month 😂😂😂 Back to math class for you 😂
Yeah that sounded like a bit much😄@BigRed2
@@BigRed2 It's pretty close - if the interest rate is 20%, that's $9400 / year or $783 / month.

Debt free scream-$40k in student loans paid in full back in March, I turned 25 in May. I feel so great to have that weight off of my shoulders. Now, all the payments I would make every week to the student loan company, goes into index funds!
Congrats!

I see so many callers where the train has left the station, crashed into a brick wall, then they call Dave for a miracle. This caller did everything wrong he possibly could before asking for help. I do understand that once you get so buried in debt you can no longer think straight, but geez! Time for a financial reality check. Not so sure he's really there yet. I don't hear that in his voice. Not yet. I hope he listens to Dave, but I don't think he (and his wife) will.
I didn’t hear him say time share or car lease. So he still hasn’t done everything wrong.
It's like knowing you have cancer, not doing anything to treat it, letting it metastasize all over your body, then going to the doctor and asking for a cure.
You either control the system or the system controls you
Debt consolidation can make things worse if you haven't resolved what caused you to go into debt in the first place. You will believe that everything is okay now and that you've got more wiggle room for spending.
I'm debt free, paid off mortgage etc and still can't force myself to buy a nice $250 convection toaster oven.
I hear you. I wanted an air fryer/toaster oven so I did surveys until I had enough Amazon points to buy one lol
A $50 dollar one does the same exact thing

All these callers seem to own Kia’s that are upside down.
We have a 2016 Sorento that’s been paid off for 3 years. Only reason people are upside down on car loans is because they rolled a prior car loan balance when they traded it in.
I have a 8 year old Kia soul that I paid off years ago thanks to Dave.
Lol I am the exact opposite of this guy, my mentality is the more you spend the more you have to work and I am beyond done working full time even at 43 years old. No debt no kids working part-time 😂

50k on a Nissan and Kia. Huh?
Car prices are crazy after pandemic. He said 2021 Kia so no doubt he paid market adjustments on top of MSRP
"You're gonna sell so much stuff the kids will think they're next" That made me laugh lol
I put my ex through school we lived without one cent of debt I worked three jobs he got out ran up a ton of debt in my name without me knowing filed for divorce and claimed I was the spender 210k in debt !

This is like having luxury brands bags but no cash. 😅
And this is why DR is against HELOCs. This is also a strong persuasion to not just consolidate debt, because it’s out of sight out of mind + a false sense of having actually accomplished something.
Converting unsecured debt into HELOC is tragic.
The only debt I have is that monthly CC payoff and my property taxes.(I was lucky enough to inherit enough money to buy a small, solid house eight years ago. )
I don't have a credit card but I'll have everything paid off in 2 years except my house
It's none of their business.
The best decision I've ever made, aside from my spouse, is working hard over 20 years to build my wealth _before_ acting wealthy.
When Dave said they'll be "...selling so much stuff that the kids will think they're next..." made me chuckle but I'm sure Dave means well and I hope this family gets their finances in order.
Rice and beans, beans and rice!
I love beans and rice!
For like 5 years for these two!
Before you buy a house, make sure you have no student loan debt and no car loan debt. Keep your expenses low and live within your means. I drove a 1999 Toyota Tacoma and it lasted me 233,000 miles before engine overheated
This is Dave's bread and butter, overspends, irresponsible with credit, and a decent income. I don't agree with his one size fits all methods, but it fits this guy like a hand made suit
I have $87 and just ordered doordash that cost $44. I have 6 credit cards maxed out for a total of $16k. I have a car payment of $655 and I am 2 months behind on my rent. I don't feel like I have any problems.

Cars again😂😂😂
I just became debt free, and the thought of being in this situation will give me a panic attack.
I agree
Good!
Dayum, they pulled out a heloc for the credit cards, and the credit cards are still nowhere near paid off!
