I did not know that the suicide rate was so high for therapists! 😮😢

Thank you for sharing this, especially the part about therapists and the suicide rate being high. Unfortunately, this topic often gets ignored.

I may be answering this question prematurely since I just graduated with my masters, but I’d choose to do it earlier. This is my second career.

Knowing all the issues within the mental health industry especially regarding the low pay, it is hard to say that I would still choose the career. I believe I would have more heavily considered going the Phd in psychology or PsyD route instead of LPC. The other degrees allow you to be able to do more than just direct care for clients. When you are limited to only direct care you can only trade your time for money which means your income is capped.

Would it be possible to do a video exploring options for those with a MA degree in counseling to pursue a career other than therapist licensure?

That would be an interesting video. Not sure what else you can do with the counseling degree. The degree seems to be designed specially for obtaining licensure to provide one-on-one therapy services for clients. With a doctoral degree in psychology it opens up many other job opportunities other than just providing therapy.
