I would disagree that kids need to be shown how they require technology to interact with the world because someone decided being born deaf is something that should be “fixed” instead of them simply learning how to talk with their hands.
~ That really says something; living in silence from the beginning, so sound is an alien experience. But immediately settles down and smiles when exposed to sound. They know.

You also have to give awful news too. Like my audiologist last year had to give me the awful news that I’m now fully deaf and no hearing aids etc can help and I’ll be deaf for life (I’m in my 30’s) He also had to let me know that is a&e had have made one small phone call to ENT I would just be hard of hearing and not deaf. Yes they get to give joy to people but also they have to break awful life changing news too
@@yourlord5972 I would say it’s probably 50:50 sadly. Many people think HA’s can fix any hearing issue, like glasses can vision problems but sadly it’s far from the truth. Don’t be put off being an audiologist, but just don’t think it’s all restoring peoples hearing and happy stories like this.
