The first Kings Singers I knew was the Bryd and the Beatles lineup, so it's weird to see changes, but then I learned that this group is a very long standing tradition. It's good to know that no matter much time goes by we'll still always have The Kings Singers. "Someday we'll all be gone, but lullabys go on and on."
At the start of this piece we see Stephen Connolly... (bass) AND he is leaving after 22 years in the group... He finishes in Sept 2010 and his replacement is called Johnny (Johnathon) Howard steps into very large shoes in Oct 2010... Good luck both gentlemen in your new careers, and Kings Singers keep doing what you always do, giving us WONDERFUL music like this.. Yep... I'm crying again but it really is SO beautiful... *sighs* :0)x
Gorgeous, emotional, thrilling, and soulful, with those exquisite harmonies. This KS line-up is, in my opinion, the best and certainly my favorite, and greatly missed in 2017.
This song is so touching and it gets so deep in my heart- this guys are so musical, technical on highest level, are performing wonderfully and with so much soul in their voices everytime I hear this i get so emotional. Thank you Guys for this - i adore you all !!
@dreamsofpsilocybin7 Robin stopped singing with the King's Singers, but is still active behind the screen. He is still singing, but not as fequent as when he was in the KS. He's now manager of a group, a consultant for others and making compilation cd's for a few companies.
Absolutely exquisite.. pure, beautiful and it made me cry too... Wonderful simply wonderful... @magenta687 you are a star for posting all the series.. Many many thanks... :0)x
I really love this group of great singers.Thank you for sharing your great talent to us.God bless you more and may you continue to sing great songs and be popularly known worldwide.Love from Salve of Philippines.
Sorry for the questions but i'm is Italian singers and i love the music of the king's singers and i love the singer of the 90'' at to day, so, the questions is: the ultimate 4 singers where have the go?''
I saw (heard) the King's Singers live at Ravinia many years ago. Before and since, I have always thought their sound utterly sublime and as gentile as can be, even with larger sounds. WONDERFUL WORK, GUYS!.. Also try Chanticleer for another similar group.
@MauriceFFM That's Stephen Connolly, the bass that recently left the group. He was actually heavier at one point many years ago, then lost a significant amount of weight, then gained a bit back, probably closer to his natural weight.
Stephen was singing bass with the group since 1988 and recently left to pursue a teaching opportunity. He was replaced by Jonathan Howard in October 2010.
@Hisname22 ... Yes, they used to be ion BBC2 quite a lot and Brian always tooted his pitch whistle... hee hee ... before they all sang... The very awesome Bill is on here along with Brian singing 2 numbers... 'Short People and Barber of Saville'... Both totally brilliant and very funny too.. Best wishes from a very wet Wales tonite :0)x
@plasticpaddymartin1 The performance was not recorded for sale. The videos from the concert that I posted were part of a special promotion between TKS and Classics Online.
@Nederlands96 .. No the New-ish countertenor is Tim, the newbie will be taking over Philip's place as a Baritone, He will be standing in-between Paul and Chris Gabbitas.. Oh the New Bari is also called Chris.. should be interesting, I wonder if the 'guys'; will give his a nick-name 'Chris~two or something... No doubt he will be Brilliant, because all Kings Singers are.. David will then be 'Daddy' as the longest serving member.. Hope this helps :0)x
@blubbafisch ... YPE Stephen leaves at the end of this month (Sept) and Johhn Howard steps in to some very large shoes... I wish them both well in their new careers... Stephen is going to a University in the south of England and Johnny... well he is going to travel all over the world now... GOOD LUCK GENTS... Oh did I say I ADORE 'The KIng's Singers'.. have been a fan since the late 70's early 80's... AWESOME group... AHH ... *sighs and sips a coffee* :0)x
@Nederlands96 .. Tim took over from Robin Tyson, who in earlier Kings Singer posts is the VERY TALL fellow standing in-between David Hurley and Paul Phoenix.. Just looked on the Kings Singers official site and the new Baritone's name is Christopher Bruerton from Christchurch New Zealand.. Best regards from Wales .. :0)x
Just a touch of one. Barely voiced it. I believe I am in the exact range as him, as I am comfortable all the way down to a Db below the staff, then it gets iffy and the volume drops.
This concert took place in my church! I was there-- in the audience! Unforgettable.
How lovely, It must have been a very special experience.
Wonderful!

Correction, meant to include Robin Tyson in my "best line-up" comment.
Bass is my favorite to listen to. I love that part of the song! These guys are amazing.

Wonderful song, beautifully performed. Will there ever be a other counter tenor like David Hurley?
The soloist is amazing
The incomparable David Hurley whose exquisite voice has no peer. I miss him so much in the group.

The low note at 3:39 always gives me shivers. They are amazing. The 2nd guy from the left - he's new I'm assuming?
Stephen was singing bass with the group since 1988 and recently left to pursue a teaching opportunity. He was replaced by Jonathan Howard in October 2010.

@AnonymousViewer1 - Yes, that's Timothy Wayne-Wright who replaced Robin Tyson.
Are there any videos of the new bass, jonathan howard?
the clarity and precision of those ct suspensions are out of control
my god he got big
Brilliant! Is this a Phil Lawson's arrangement?
Yes it is
Now this is real a capella. Glee has nothing on this.
@dreamsofpsilocybin7 He retired to spend more time with his family. He has young children.
ja, és én is hallottam :)
OK, now I'm spoiled by their on-pitchness!
@magenta687 STEPHEN CONNOLLY IS MY FAVORITE!!!
has the bass singer changed from when they were a lot younger or a different person to replace the previous one
Just a touch of one. Barely voiced it. I believe I am in the exact range as him, as I am comfortable all the way down to a Db below the staff, then it gets iffy and the volume drops.
**Aw. Snaffle**
Anyone else hear at 3:38 the "low c"? Right before the re-begining, or.......it's just me?
what happened to robin?
It would still be a d flat... very low, still :p
C# then
Szia! ez nem nagy C, hanem Cisz. Fisz-dúr, ill. moll a hangnem.
seeming as it's in F# major and there's no modulation there it couldn't possibly be a low C...
YOU TUBE IS OUT OF CONTROL WITH ADVERTISING - FUK THIS
is this the mr. beanish bass singer? if so, he gained a lot of weight, didn´t he?
