Emanuel here. Funny story about this: I suddenly realized what we were singing about WHILE we were filming this and some of the lyrical lines really hit me hard. I couldn't help but choking up time and time again. Focused on not crying while forgetting lyrics and musical details. I wouldn't have reacted like this before I was a father I think. It's gonna be really interesting bringing this song on tour... We laughed about it and in the end Mats found some takes of me not looking like a wreck. Didier, Jakob, Rasmus and Mats were all just pros and being supportive.
This arrangement came to our minds firstly through The Gas House Gang but also later on thanks to Vocal Spectrum. They both do great versions in their own ways.

I am at the end of my life, as I have advanced cancer. With so little time, this beautiful music was very moving from my favourite group. I will always have fond memories of all the joy you've given me. Thank you Rasmus, Emanuel, Didier, Jakob and Martin. Many blessings for the rest of your lives and careers. ❤
God Bless you

Such a beautiful song. Emanuel, your realization about the lyrics is touching and beautiful. I imagine the lyrics tend to affect parents and non-parents alike. Thanks for doing this piece. I have always hoped Ringmasters would record it. ❤
No one would ask you to sing or be anything else than your authentic self Emanuel. Thanks for the lovely tune and recording!
Danced at my wedding with my grandmother to this song after my mother's sudden passing months prior. And now my favorite group made it their own. Thank you for this.
Timeless Billy Joel, achingly gorgeous rendition. Thanks, brothers. 🙏
Btw, Emanuel - look up Sara Groves, Wonderful World. She straight loses it in the third verse. And her child is right there, singing. Of course! ❤️
Emanuel sounds so incredible! One of my favorite barbershop arrangements, fantastic job guys.
Lovely story, Emanuel!
Believe me if I tell you it came to my mind how this charming lines might feel now that you have become a father.
Keep it up, guys! You are great!💪
Lyrics
Goodnight my angel, time to close your eyes
And save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
I think you know what I've been trying to say
I promised I would never leave you
Then you should always know
Wherever you may go, no matter where you are
I never will be far away
Goodnight my angel, now it's time to sleep
And still so many things I want to say
Remember all the songs you sang for me
When we went sailing on an emerald bay
And like a boat out on the ocean
I'm rocking you to sleep
The water's dark and deep, inside this ancient heart
You'll always be a part of me
Goodnight my angel, now it's time to dream
And dream how wonderful your life will be
Someday your child may cry, and if you sing this lullaby
Then in your heart there will always be a part of me
Someday we'll all be gone
But lullabies go on and on
They never die
That's how you and I will be
I think any loving parent would get a little teary eyed listening to this song, and Ringmasters, you great quartet, sang a beautiful version of it. Thank you. ❤
Amazing performance with an amazing song. Hats off.
I'm starting to convince you guys are plotting to record the songs that get stuck in my head. Incredible, as always!
Just gorgeous to hear you with this wonderful and sentimental arrangement. And Emanuel, thank you for these personal lines!! Great to hear and SEE what music makes us FEEL.
This is easily the most beautiful version of the song that has ever been recorded 💚 thank you @ringmasters.
Tears here in South Australia. How beautiful!!! While we're doing Billy Joel, may I request "And So It Goes"?
Stunningly peaceful. I want to be like you guys when I grow up. I'm 66.
Blessings from Kansas~
Oh, that base line. How marvelous and how wonderfully sung. The whole thing is perfect. I can't stop listening to this profound beauty of sound and words.
I've already listened to this like 10 times in the last hour. I'm a baritone myself but I can't sing at all for over 3 months now due to a laryngitis. I don't know how long this will last and I miss singing so so much. Emanuel you did such an amazing job ❤. One can really hear how much emotions you put in. I can't wait to try and sing this song like you
Hope you get well soon!
Such a beautiful piece, and masterfully sung! Very moving
1:46 I heard that Rasmus :P
I LOVE this song...and you did such a beautiful cover arrangement of it. It was mesmerizing...stunning! Billy Joel will be honored! You are beyond amazing! Was so happy to see you had a new video up AND of a song I KNEW you would master! Thank you! Going to sleep with this melody in my head, but first had to share it with our adult children who have children of their own. 💕😴
❤ love this interpretation. Wonderfully performed
Beautiful! Y'all make this piece sound ethereal.
Please can you invite Helen Sjöholm and sing this with her in Swedish?
I have loved your music ever since I discovered you several years ago. I listen to you at least once a day. Thank you.
Out of this world.
I'm bawling like a baby. Because of our ages, I know that my girlfriend will go someday (maybe even me too). Beautiful song.
What a wonderful rendition, this is in my top three that you’ve done. Also, this new audio setup really does you guys justice. 👌🏼
Out of this world! Stunningly beautiful.
Beautiful. THANK YOU! 💚
This is a pleasure to hear! Can't wait to hear this one live! Amazing❤
Absolutely stunning. I first heard it on GHG’s album when it was first released. Over time this song has grown to have new meaning, for a lot of people, as we experience new aspects of life (whether the birth of a child or the loss of a family member). I got goosebumps within the first 30 seconds and they stayed throughout the entire video. Very well done
One of my favorite arrangements. Made me smile.
Small request - I've just done "stemningen" by Wilhelm Peterson-Berger with my choir and I think you guys would make a fabulous version of it. Would love to hear if possible! All the best, keep singing ❤
Absolutely gorgeous
Touching and calming to my soul
Stupendous, guys. Peerless. Well ;), Vocal Spectrum did rather well, too-but this recording brings out moments in the harmonies that are muddied in other recordings I've heard.
Damn! That ending was hauntingly beautiful!
Beautiful Arrangement
Absolutely beautiful!
Oh. That tuning❤
my fav artists posted again pls post more often !!!
Awesome!!!
Wonderful!!
Wonderful
Emanuel no doubt !
Wow, very nice!
Wow!
Absolutely exquisite
So good. Bravo :)
Who's singing the lead?
Emanuel, the one on the far left and facing away from camera on the wide shots.
Usually, (L) Emanuel - Didier - Rasmus - Jakob (R) are the baritone - bass - lead - tenor respectively. But they are so versatile that they often just switch up the top three parts nowadays. Still, it's usually between Jakob and Rasmus on lead, so hearing Emanuel on lead is soooo refreshing and so good!
Here's to hoping for more Emanuel lead...
@@Honey_Beef I thought it was Emmanuel. Thanks.
@@Honey_Beef Emanuel also sings lead on most of the “Notre Dame Medley”, and he’s fantastic as the lead on “All Shook Up” and “Teddy Bear”.
