This is probably the most beautiful singing I have heard in my entire, 60 year old life. I am speechless....so perfect, so tender. . you men are heroes. Thank you for this....thank you thank you
I always tear up with this rendition. We play it to our son everynight and it is soothing, loving, and at the same time so humbling, sad and overwelming..We are always a part of our loved ones. Even when long gone.
I played this for a 6 year old relative I was babysitting before bed one night and told him these are the King’s singers. Near the end during the tenor solo, he asked me: “Jeff... Is that the queen?” I’ve never laughed harder in my life. Love this song, love the memory it gave me.
2021 and still beautiful. To all those who suffered during these difficult times, either directly due to the pandemic or as collateral to it, I offer all hugs and love and prayers. It may be dark yet but tomorrow will come. Good night my love!
Goodnight, my angel Time to close your eyes And save these questions for another day I think I know what you've been asking me I think you know what I've been trying to say I promised I would never leave you And you should always know Wherever you may go No matter where you are I never will be far away Goodnight, my angel Now it's time to sleep And still so many things I want to say Remember all the songs you sang for me When we went sailing on an emerald bay And like a boat out on the ocean I'm rocking you to sleep The water's dark And deep inside this ancient heart You'll always be a part of me Goodnight, my angel Now it's time to dream And dream how wonderful your life will be Someday your child may cry And if you sing this lullabye Then in your heart There will always be a part of me Someday we'll all be gone But lullabyes go on and on... They never die That's how you And I Will be
I just listened to this one. Now I will listen again. David, David, David... you are the best. You are beyond magic in this one. The whole group of course but still...
I played and studied music seriously for decades, but I've never managed to understand how the final resolution of harmonic singing is so often the purest of the sounds produced. The final chord in this rendition was ... perfect. Save the best till last, hmm?
They key is love. They feel love for every word of the song. They understand the song in its purest form and meaning. Which makes the singing …….. aching with not only love and joy but the sorrow of knowing……. That one day they won’t be there.
It is because the human voice, like a cello, violin, or trombone, can tune much more finely than a mere semitone. Having sung Barbershop Baritone, I can tell you that these guys are each tuning to a 64th of a tone. Honestly, the human ear is not finely enough calibrated to hear the note itself, only the resultant harmonics that only happen when each note is tuned perfectly to the others. The King's Singers are so good at it they don't even think about it. The final chord is that last, perfect resolve every time. A capella music does not fade out. It resolves and stops. What is INCREDIBLE is when a piece is sung in a minor key and only that last final resolve is a major chord. A Tierce de Piccardi will always get attention.
I'm in love this Ensemble, I love every single component of it, but expecially Stephen Pharm-Connolly!!! I literally coul listen his deep and warm voice all day long! Please, David Hurley, Robin Tyson, Paul Phoenix, Philip Lawson and Christopher Gabbitas, don't blame on me too much for this!!!! 💙💙💙💙💙
Afinacion a prueba de balas, increible arreglo, gran sonido....eso resume a este, para mi humilde opinion, el mejor grupo vocal de Europa. Saludos desde Uruguay.
Yes it's peculiarly affecting: I'm a tenor in a 12-member SATB choir, and I can usually manage to hold it together for a concert, but frequently choke up when we first rehearse it. Beautiful composition, as is 'And so it goes' by B.J.
One of them (don't know their names, sorry.) looks like Patrick Dempsey to me and one looks like Mr. Bean. They're a great group. I'm so glad I found them. :)
I'm a writer and poet, or try to be. God! what would I give to be able to pen such lyrics. It does something indescribable to me so I wont even try to explain it.
That bass line man.... Phew 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is probably the most beautiful singing I have heard in my entire, 60 year old life. I am speechless....so perfect, so tender. . you men are heroes. Thank you for this....thank you thank you
Billy Joel is prolific, so many good ones in his catalog. This one has to be in at least the top three. So beautiful and moving.
I always tear up with this rendition. We play it to our son everynight and it is soothing, loving, and at the same time so humbling, sad and overwelming..We are always a part of our loved ones. Even when long gone.
Makes us two...
This song is heart wrenchingly beautiful. It’s an emotional gut punch every time.

Merveilleux David Hurley ! En fait, ils sont merveilleux tous les six !!!
2021 and still beautiful.

Good night my love!
The solo by David Hurley towards the end is just heavenly. I've heard many counter tenors but he does something very special here
I fell allways this song is near from me. This is my home, and I am forgived every time.
Thank you for God.
From Japan
Theyre coming to my school to give the choir a masters class! So excited to meet them :)
My favourite performance (so far) from the masters of close-harmony singing.
A beautiful piece that I can never forget.
One of my favourite songs. And yes, it always makes me cry hearing this song.
Wow fan rin po pala kayo ng KS. Hehe. Ako po.since Male Chorale days. 😭
Makes me cry every time. Takes me back to the collegiate vocal ensemble days. Bless the king’s singers and joel
Goodnight, my angel
Time to close your eyes
And save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
I think you know what I've been trying to say
I promised I would never leave you
And you should always know
Wherever you may go
No matter where you are
I never will be far away
Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to sleep
And still so many things I want to say
Remember all the songs you sang for me
When we went sailing on an emerald bay
And like a boat out on the ocean
I'm rocking you to sleep
The water's dark
And deep inside this ancient heart
You'll always be a part of me
Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to dream
And dream how wonderful your life will be
Someday your child may cry
And if you sing this lullabye
Then in your heart
There will always be a part of me
Someday we'll all be gone
But lullabyes go on and on...
They never die
That's how you
And I
Will be
I remember my mother used to play this video when i was little. She was in choir in highschool and she told me she sang this song on a trip to DC
I just listened to this one. Now I will listen again. David, David, David... you are the best. You are beyond magic in this one. The whole group of course but still...
Thanks for the good quality. This is incredibly beautiful.
Stunning singing
I ordered the DVD as soon as I heard this song. Sublime.
it's rare to find a video with 0 likes....obvious masterpiece.
I just melted

Singers do not have the problem of temperament... So they can sing very purely...I guess...

I will love this music forever
This actually made me tear up a bit. My dad used to sing this to me before I went to bed every night. It brings back good memories ^v^
AWESOME! Best on youtube by far!

I always have to cry when I hear this song
same here
Same...
Yep!
Amazing ,good job.
I play this every night for our so with the room dark and quiet; peacefully, drifting to sleep.
Bravo bravissimo🎶❤️🎵
Man, I played this song 100 times, it's still fantastic.

I hope one day, they would come to the Philippines and have a concert. :)
I love this so much ❤️
It doesn't get better than this.
Sounds amazing
I would love to hear them perform live.
One of them (don't know their names, sorry.) looks like Patrick Dempsey to me and one looks like Mr. Bean. They're a great group. I'm so glad I found them. :)
Wow, in the recording on Spotify you can hear a very clear overtone on the penultimate note, I think by Robin Tyson.
1:32 amazing note by christopher
Благодарю!!!
Please play this at my funeral
I use this record to test quality of headphones. Stephen Connolly's note at 2:26 is the pass or fail indicator.
Curious fact. That low D is not in the original arrangement, Conolly's genius.
@@arboc05 Cool, I didn't know that.
I'm a writer and poet, or try to be. God! what would I give to be able to pen such lyrics. It does something indescribable to me so I wont even try to explain it.
OMGGGGGGGGG
hehe yeah he is a countertenor!
How about Stephen's note at about 2:25? Wow.
It is a low D (D2) I’m pretty sure
Bobby Davis Close. It’s even lower at C#2.
Chris Epperson ah ok 👍🏻 man I really admire Stephen Connolly singing
Bobby Davis Agreed. I sure miss him.
Chris Epperson his voice was one of a kind
At 1:45...how is that done David...marvellous.
The counter♥♥♥
I think these guys would kill an autotune. Seriously, like vocally smash it to pieces xD
The guy on the far right HAS to be related to Rowan Atkinson...
It's his half brother from another father.
Where was this performed?
For the children and teachers of Uvalde.
This song somehow reminds me of "The Heat of the Moment" by Asia.
Nem tudok betelni vele! Már ezerszer meghallgattam pedig.

beautiful rendition
I like Gas House Gang's version a bit better. Still though, these guys are killas.
I have liked a lot of Gas House Gang, but better than this? Listen again.
