That intro makes me think you've been chatting with Miniac.....
Gave this a shot, only used gloss clear Modge Podge and just a couple of drops of Reaper's Fresh Blood. It came out PERFECT. Will post pics to the group later, thank you!!!
One tip I got years ago (before BFTBG was available) was to mix in a little static grass and flock into your blood paint to look like chunks of gore and hair. Works especially well on your 'savage' enemies like Ogres or Orks if they're using hammers and things to look like they've just crushed a skull.
Thanks for the vid, definitely worth looking into if I pick up an Undead army again :D
That intro tho... Excellent timing because I am planning on doing some Blades of Khorne and this is really going to help!
Using the method from the intro will make you roll better I've heard...
@@tobiasboh3370 Khorne cares not from where it flows :)
I need to made a bunch of blood and gore effects, didn't know that ink existed before watching this. Thanks Luke👍
Another timely vid. Just what I have been looking for. Thanks Luke!
This is a sign that I should do the Khorne army I’ve been thinking about!! Thanks boss!!!!!
The stringy gore is great because you can continue painting it in areas to make it darker or lighter to make the blood look more rotten or fresh.
Love the creativity of Luke!
Thanks for this! I use this sort of paint for more than just miniatures as I like making horror movie monsters, so this is very useful for me.
All three look awesome.
Great stuff- been looking for these effects for my World Eaters. Nice one!
You may not be helping to replace blood for the blood God technical paint from GW but you did give me an idea as to how to make different colors of blood that you can't do with blood for the blood God.
Absolutely legendary. Think you're my miniatures idol my man
Uh oh, Luke is creating a character for himself now 😁
Awesome video as always
I’ve used mod podge in the past for rot and blood effects. Pretty sure it’s just a varnish anyways. Been watching your videos for a long time dude keep being awesome.
Unsubscribed and then immediately RESUBSCRIBED WITH A DEATH GROWL. Seriously, such a great video that goes beyond just mimicking another company. Really great stuff!
That intro was feckin hilarious!!! Final Clear Fix effect is wonderful!!
Awesome vid, I'm definitely going to try the iso and silicone method for some guts. When I'm doing gore (not just blood) I add a very small amount of black ink to my red base (roughly two drops to the amount of red you used in the video). My base color might be Tamiya x-27 red or a red ink that I mix with medium. When real blood dries and starts to get crusty it's not really "red" anymore, it takes on a dark brown-red color. The middle of the paint application (where it's thick) has a very dark black-red color and the edges where it's thinner are more red. I don't find that brown inks work very well for this, but black does the trick.
Wow! Really awesome effects, Luke!!!

Im doing a khorne army. Im painting my bases in khorne red then mordent earth then in the cracks and rim with blood for the blood god to make the lava base crackle but with blood and now i can make my own thanks.
The yellow Uhu glue from the pound shop and inks work great for guts and all sorts.
Try shaping it round thin blue insulated wire for intestines aswell 🧟♂️
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE !!
Pennies for the Lord of Change!
If your doing FW Daler Rowney inks I'd suggest 1 drop black to 5 parts crimson.
I've done red earth to crimson in the same proportions for varied/dry blood effects too
I've just started trying these exact inks myself.
I can pick them up from my local Range store for a nice cheap price too. Bargain. 😁
Oh yeah. They'll be coming for you.
I've never been satisfied with any kind of painted blood. Spent from 1974 to 1981 trying to mix up something that looked realistic. I finally decided on not adding blood paint to anything. Instead I'd line up everything I finished that needed blood. Inevitably when trimming up minis I would cut myself. I would then use real blood for all of the lined up minis, and give a light clear coat just as the blood was drying.
I always got a lot of compliments on my blood effects after that. :)
Great tutorial, I usually add a touch of purple or even less blue ink to the mix as well.
Epic! Thank you!
Dat intro! :D
Great vid Luke
Thanks Luke. This would probably work great making alternate colors too, for alien blood, Like green blood, blue blood, ect
The gel medium seems like a good idea.
I was looking for something like this for a project.
Best intro ever
awesome seem some Mantic with groovy blood paint jobs like this wondered how it was done!
Great vid, love it.
If I made a pot full of the stringy blood option how long will it keep for? Would a lid stop it setting or is it make to use?
wow yours looks way better! Love it!
~Freak
the guy playing the Debauchery/Balgeroth tabletop game will need buckets of that stuff!
Awesome stuff :)
Well as your not playing your guitar semi-professionally do you need that finger tip - me I prefer the Ronseal for everything gooey!
Looks good
Luke, I have worked with the Iso and Clearfix to make water effects and it seems to bubble badly and to not dry in thicker layers. Any thoughts welcome
love it !
Oddly enough I managed to do just that a few months ago. took the tip of my finger clean off with a very sharp chef knife.
I know that bro was screaming “BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD” on the thumbnail 💀
Luke, will the clear fix mixture after drying, take a wash of the first mixture? To give it more of the rich blood color...
I've used the clearfix today to make slime and spit it's fantastic!
@@GeekGamingScenics Hi Luke I'm not on Facebook and I've no Idea of how to take pictures of Models the few times. I've tried I've had cra results I don't get along well with technology.
even my Keyboard rebelled on me in that last post
I want to get dropper bottles like Reaper paints.
I would like to see some techniques getting one of your mixed paint recipes into a bottle so it'll last and be on hand as creativity strikes.
Also which bottle is the precise one Reaper paints are, because I love the case.
Thanks for the content,

Will this work making slime and gunk using green inks?
Thanks Luke .

Me: "I really need to buy some ketchup"
Loved the video, thanks for the tips loved them all.
Nice, now i can make my black ooze propperly.
Awesome Gross. ...
Just before you stated that you can make it what ever shade you wanted when mixing yourself I was thinking the exact thing.
I wonder what consistency would be yielded by adding a small amount of the gel medium to mixture #1?
Very cool, Luke! Thank you! One question... can you use either of the first two with a toothbrush splatter effect?
@@GeekGamingScenics Excellent! Much obliged. Love the channel!
Best horror trailer ever made
Perfect! Does the varnish layer well? If I want them wading through blood, should I do several layers or one thick layer (bound in place on the sides until complete)?
Cool, was planning to do the hairdryer trick to give them the wading look.
Could you do a serious on hot to make contrast paints? I know there are a few vids out on how to make the glazes. I know they are bsaically just glazes themselves, how do you make the colors and etc with cheaper paints or inks though? etc etc.
Awesome video Luke! Now how would I go about making my blood effects look Frozen? I want to do a winter battle scene with spilled blood that's been in the elements.
Would the last one work with some drybrushing after it has dried obviously.
You looked like you had just shit yourself at the intro but decided to carry on with the video anyway. Really good info. There is another hybrid polymer. I think it's called crystal clear. Could be a good back up if you sell out . Keep up the good work mate!
How do you insure your citidal paint doesn't dry out? I find it does so easily
how about a cheap gemstone effect paint like tamiya clear or the GW ones
Does anybody know if clearfix is a UK thing? I can't find it for less than 20 dollars a tube, and in truth am having trouble finding it at all, the buying options are pretty limited.

Hi Luke have you tried the wilko indoor varnish as looks the same as roseal apart from in cost
@@GeekGamingScenics any joy with it is it the same
im guessing this wouldnt work as well with the matt version of ronseal?
Yesssssss🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Ronseal for the ronseal God, ink for the ink God.
do a how to make acrylic primer video please. it is a big cost. and interested in how to make my own.
Not sure if this has been asked, but does anyone know of a US equivalent to Ever Builds ClearFix?
Would any interior varnish work? Would a gloss polyurethane work as well? Thanks!
@@GeekGamingScenics thank you again! Is the Ronseal Varnish an Acrylic? I'm sorry if I'm not following. Does liquitex make something equivalent?
Would you recommend using these techniques to make Nurgle's rot? It seems like ink might be a better way to go than paint for the Rot. ty
Dunno if you have seen it since this comment but he does have a video on how to make your own nurgle rot
So I followed the steps in the first 27 seconds of this video. But now my blood effect looks like weird brown rust. Did I not have the heavy metal blaring loud enough?
As far as I can tell, Ronseal is not in the US - anyone know of a similar product in the US?
@@GeekGamingScenics thanks, Luke - is Ronseal a Polyurethane? I had found the minwax polycrylic - but it said Polyurethane (still water based) but I didn't see where the Ronseal label said Polyurethane. Thanks!
GREAT SOUNDS BUD ...LOL
I still find it weird that a medium which looks white (I know it has no white pigment in) the red doesn’t go pink.
Indian Red is harder to find. Any other good red inks I can use?
@@GeekGamingScenics Thx, I ordered a darker Crimson red.
We need to find an ronseal type product in the USA
I'm working on finding an equivalent.
Minwax Polycrylic maybe?
@@MatthewSwain is Ronseal a Polyurethane?
@@mikesprague No. The Ronseal Luke uses is an acrylic varnish. You need to find a water based acrylic indoor varnish.
10/10 would faint again
My wife says the same thing to me, the more I pull it the more likely I am to make a mess :P
03:10 I’d say Luke’s mix looks far more like real blood than the BFTBG 👍
Bit confused here. Is varnish the same thing as medium? It looks like hes pouring the varnish into the plastic tub when he says medium.
@@GeekGamingScenics Thanks for the heads up! I love watching your channel and have especially enjoyed your video on fully modular rubble ruins. Seems a lot less intimidating now.
mate you should try picking up a bottle of "UHU Glue" works BRILLIANTLY for blood drips and tears and stretches, similar to the clearfix one but imo a little bit better. Just something to try!
Zach Pennington, which specific one do you mean? (UHU makes a bunch of glues under the yellow label.) Thanks!
@@jamesmhebert "all purpose adhesive" if I remember right, kinda basic looking one. Basically put some of that in a little cup and add some ink or blood paint and mix fast and use fast and you can get brilliant results
👍
I could tell from the first 30 seconds this wasvgunba b awsum
Have u tried this with just touch of brown ink with a coarse mix? I think it would add a bit more to the realism of the gore ..... moohoohahahah
Hard.
whell good to know me had thing and seen lot own blood and whas or is a dark black pirpel color yes lot of it as speed it whent to paint color you just did ho the thing its whas ok but looked wores then whas but you know the color of blood if get lot taken out you see more as post
