I use a G100 alongside an OM-1 and a D4 for weddings, christenings and the like. Goes on a wee PD Capture Clip with a fast portrait lens while the other two have a tele and a wide. It's been great. This video was among the persuasion that led me to try one, and cast off the near hysteria caused by the lack of IBIS. So thanks for that.
This was my first real camera that lets you change lenses. Something I didn't expect was the manual zoom. In hindsight, I should have just got a bridge camera, as it's the cheapest way to get reach, the main reason I was looking for a phone alternative camera in the first place.
Just bought this camera and I am impressed at its image quality, ease of use and dynamic range. Microphones work as described. However, even shooting stills it gets very hot. This really surprises me. I wonder if I have a bad copy or all g100s have this problem.
I enjoyed this review and it covered more than other reviews of the G100 I have watched while being balanced and fact based also covering basic video and photographic aspects of the camera. I currently use my older GX85 as my Webcam for Zoom, Webex and FaceTime. If in the future I can find a used G100 body I think it would make a very nice upgrade from my current set-up (20MP, Mic Socket and flippy screen, no need for IBIS as it is mounted on my desk).
Great video. Some of your images were amazing. I'm guessing, in part, that is due to the beautiful area you shot. I love this camera. The compact size is my immediate attraction, but the image quality and function are quickly exciting me as i become more experienced with the camera. The camera definitely gets mixed reviews. It seems like the perfect all around camera. It shoots great stills and video. It's basic enough for a beginner and has many pro features to offer assistance in more demanding situations. Price, quality and function... How can you go wrong with this camera?
Decent review. No ego here for vlogging. Looking for a MFT hdslr variation at a good price for street shooting. It really needs an audio jack to monitor sound when shooting. Liked your “crick walking” audio test! This seems to be a good carry-around hdslr!
Great vid have u had ur hands on the zv1 a lot of reviews for that camera praise it well. And has a good product show case mode. Only thing that puts me off and sways me toward the g100 as the Lens can be changed and provide better picture quality
It's interesting "vlog" camera... what about the bad autofocus and the big croping factor (and this camera already has a small sensor)? Isn't the most imoportant at a camera for vloggers the stabilisation and good autofocus(and G100 has none of these two)? Am I missing something? Am I the only one that think that G100 si a BS?! I love Lumix cameras, but this one is useless! Sorry! Let see the GH6, I am not going to spend any money on G100!
Tsvetan V Life There has been a lot of poor reviewing of this camera on UA-cam. Richard Wong has done extensive testing of AF on the G9, GH5, and GH5S as well as the G100 and he has concluded that the AF is the best he has used on a Panasonic. This video here shows good AF in action, so I get the impression that the AF is fine for those who take the time to get settings correct and work within the limitations of the camera’s systems to maximise results. As to cropping-in the camera does crop in stepped stages, depending on your settings, however it is also possible to turn off the EIS and get full width 1080p and the same small crop in 4K that is experienced in the G95. But even with maximum cropping, you are still using a larger area than a 1 inch sensor, and you should remember that the 1 inch ZV1 also does a crop in 4K, so even with crop you still get better low light and shallow depth of field than the ZV1 does. Panasonic, Olympus, Sigma, and Voigtländer offer lenses of f1.4, 1.2, and 0.95, so the low light capabilities blow the Sony out of the water. In addition there are MFT macro lenses from 1:1 to several times greater magnification, the ability to use anamorphic and tilt/shift lenses, long telephotos, ultra-wide lenses and more, which means that this camera can do many things that are impossible on the ZV1. So you might think the camera is useless for you, but there are many others like me who are looking at this as a brilliant alternative to the Sony. I guess amateurs will flock to the Sony, and those who want to be more creative and adventurous will choose the G100, because this is the smallest interchangeable lens camera with big camera features and an EVF on the market right now.
This camera is a JOKE. I'm sorry, I really love the Lumix cameras, but G100 is a complex mix of features, that doesn't make any sense. The autofocus is still crap, there is "5-axis image stabilization", but this doesn't mean it's IBIS... Oh no, it's just a lazy digital stabilisation that has x1.7 crop factor... and this camera, already has a small sensor with x2 times crop factor. What about the V-log... In every possible video about v-log, they say "Don't use v-log with 8bit footage, because it's crap". Even Panasonic himself, are saying that, and they charge you addtitional $99 for the v-log upgrade... The regular vlogger, who just want to shoot something doesn't care about color grading and "cinematic look". Oh, and what year is this - 10min record limit in 4K??? 20min in 1080p.???? WHAT???? And if you compare it with something like Sony ZV-1, the Sony is faaaaaar better then G100. Yes, it's a one inch sensor, and you can't change the lens, but if you compare these two cons with G100... it's not a problem at all. I'll gladly skip this camera, and look forward for GH6... or something else.
U nailed it! unless there's a firmware update or this camera is way too much work for regular Vloggers. Either wait for an improved version or get Sony ZV1 now.
@@ernestkj what improvement they can make? In my oppinion this camera is cripled so much with lack of IBIS and this crop factor, that you need 10mm Lens to be able to fit in your face without toucning the ends of the screen. They have removed one of their big advantege the IBIS! And with this contrast autofocus things get so unsure about the quality of the image, that it's doesn't make any sence to use this camera for vlogging.

There seems to be a few dorks making comments on here that don't know anything about photography! great video and very informative, thankyou!
Great to see some still reviewing the MFT cameras.
Beautiful family, beautiful scenery and beautiful birds!

Is the image quality actually good? No problems with iso or anything right?
Love your style, keep it up sir!
Thanks for the review.
Good quality stills.

Just skip it! Pretend that G100 does not exist! And let's wait for GH6!

I think the V-LOG was designed for 8 bit footage who similar with V-LOG in G95, I've watched the review about G95 before
