Excellent video, I really enjoyed it. I just bought this camera from UK Digital at a fantastic price. I am not too bothered about the video capabilities as I have a Gx80, G80, and the fantastic G9 and a much used and loved 36 month old LX15 which has finally give up after much use and misuse. The LX15 is only a 1" sensor and are getting scarce now so I bought the G100 to replace it due to it's small size, and the bonus of viewfinder and mft sensor, not forget the ability to use interchangeable lenses. A bargain.
One big benefit on the G100 that I love is the viewfinder. Most cameras that the G100 is compared to, eg. Sony ZV1, do not have a viewfinder, effectively making them “point and shoot” cameras.
There are a lot of lenses out there that overcome the manual focus issue. You pay for what you get :) I managed to pick up this kit for $50 AUD less than the body only. No idea why it was that price but I got a free tripod and a not bad free lens. Shop around. I love ground level shots so the tripod is very usable. As a Nikon FX user it's hard to fault this. I was looking for a discrete street camera. I will probably buy a 25mm (50mm) 1.4 or 1.7 lens (with manual focus ring of course) for that purpose. Now what I find is that for under $2K I can carry around a RAW image camera with a decent Leica (designed) zoom lens where the whole kit weighs under 1kg. Bliss! (Thanks for the excellent video - the heads up about the manual focus was a god send.)
Can you do a review of that camera in low light or night time for filming streetfoods or night shows or inside the house because I am choosing a camera that can shoot inside with a clear and high quality resolution without the help of sunlight.
@@PavSZ let's hope so. I was a watching another vlogger who was using a G9 and it was doing the same face searching. All that contrast, or lack thereof!
@@andersistbesser that's the point, in the videos I watched, this included, the face was lost, even if only briefly. It's distracting, especially when it was in the middle of talking point. Right, because Micro Four Thirds is only #1 in sales in Japan compared to the other mounts (Canon's RF mount is #2). The Z mount is way more likely to die than MFT based on the sales numbers.
Are you confused about the number of different camera options advertised as perfect for vlogging or content creation?
Majorly. I’m confused between Sony ZV1 and some others
Well done! A really informative review! So cool to be the first to test this new camera out 🤘🏻
Thanks!
Not looking any more at this because of manual focus snd face recognition negatives. Thank you for this review.

Thanks so much for this video! Got one as a gift for the holidays and now Im excited to start using it!

Spot on & indeed, a decent stills shooter.

for that you need a lens with a large aperture. with the g100 you can buy something like the olympus 17mm f/1.8 that will do what you want.
Your footage is too shaky for pana, do you forget to turn ibis on?
Hi , thanks for the video. Do you know if this camera is compatible with the dji ronin SC or SC2? Thanks
It should be
Nice review. It's a bit unfortunate about the DfD AF/face tracking. It lost your face so many times.
I think it is a fixable with an firmware update and I had pre-release model as well.
@@PavSZ let's hope so. I was a watching another vlogger who was using a G9 and it was doing the same face searching. All that contrast, or lack thereof!
Robert Poulton my gh5 tracks the face very well and i really dont care if it is pulsing a bit . I dont watch the background i watch the person

only you can decide. The AF is not amazing on both of these cameras.
The GX85 doesn't have a Microphone input. That was a huge deal breaker for me.
Sir, please tell me which the better between g100 or g85?
never used g85, sorry I don't really know
Good video as always, wished you have talked a little about the grip as well
Hi, just a quick questions about the lens for this camera. I hear a lot about 'S' mount, 'L' mount etc. What mount is the Panasonic Lumix G100?
this is Micro Four Thirds mount
Thanks 😊
thanks for the great review:) very helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Would you prefer this the the G7??

How about low light performance???
as expected from mft lumix sensor - ok

I never used it with flash but there must some setting to let it go to at least 1/250
How abt low light performance???
it will hugely depend on a lens that you use and how you specify low light. Overall, OK but don't expect full frame camera performance
thanks! Have you tried to output video to the Atomos Ninja? Its possible to record 4.2.2 Prores?
Ninja V can only record formats that the camera supports. I'm not sure (I don't remember) if G100 supports 4:2:2 10bit video - goole is your friend

Thanks!
Awesome video :)
Thanks!
Hey, I tried using your discount code but it comes up as invalid. Am I too late off the mark for this?
what discount code? - there isn't one for this camera
Oh right. I tried using PAVG100 to get the free SD card when purchasing the camera from UKDigital. Maybe I misunderstood your offer.

absolutely
