Overall I would call it positive, it makes first gear more usable in normal daily riding, and for riding roads or trails that require 60-70 km/hr(30-45ish mph) you can use 4th on the upper end of speed but still could run in 3rd on soft gravel when you need some torque. If you do a lot of 90kmh or 50 to 60 mile per hr that’s where you notice a reduced rpm which I find nice…. Unless you are a novice rider you probably won’t have any any issue with first gear even in challenging situations. So, I’d say if you strictly trail ride and don’t go above 40mph I would not change it. For me I’m good with the change.
