Haha, ya, I ended up with all the starters before I finished half of the gyms. Now I've been paying it back, hatching eggs and sending off the dupes to build up my Lotto IDs.

yeah, i did the same with Scorbunny and Passimian ... I also released any crap route 1 pokemon i received instead of feeding it back into the system. I think it's a nice gesture to try and help people get the starters and the version exclusives, and i wish if people would do it more often.
I also put a lot of 5iv pokemon in the surprise trade. All hatched while going for the 6 perfect iv

I wish more people did that. I did this same thing on my older games. I always traded off the pokemon harder to get or pokemon with more perfect IVs that I wasn't using. I didn't care if i got a trash pokemon.

When I first started sword, before I even got out of the wild area, I was surprise traded a Charmander and it completely made my day! That Charmander is now a level 100 G-Max Charizard and I love it!

I’ve had switch for 2 weeks and surprise trade has already brought me all 3 starters and my Pokédex is already 1/4 of the way full - about halfway through the story
i really hope we're doing this again for 2020!! i've always loved opening up wonder trade/surprise trade for the sake of id-lotto anyways, but the concept of doing it for the people getting it late for christmas is such a wonderful idea.

What I do when I shiny hunt, is I release all the Pokémon in my party (Except my flame body Pokémon) before moving on to the next set of eggs. It keeps it from becoming disorganized :)
Instead of doing it every 2 minutes, you can do it once every 30 seconds, here's how:
Go into handheld mode
Connect to the internet
Search for a single battle
Hold the home button
When you get a match, immediately enter and exit airplane mode
Enter a Pokemon center
Change the day every time
It removes the time to go to the raid den

I'm doing a living dex with all other people's pokemon, I already have over 100 pokemon with other IDs so I win the lotto every day lol
I won it like... 50 times today. Time travel sure makes a lot of things easier.
What is a living dex
@@SittingDucksOW a living dex is when you fill your boxes with every single pokemon in the pokedex. So all the stages of each evolution must be present. Which means I will need all 400 pokemon in the PC at once!
I have almost 150 from other people only obtained via surprise trade and most of the rest are my own

@@ratchetcrafter1021 Yes, just set your date to auto obtain from internet and go to a den to open and cancel multiplayer. Then you can start from the current day again.

Even without the added benefit of lottery spamming, this is such a nice thing to do for the kids that can’t get the game or a switch right now. I love it
i did the xmas trade idea 3 years ago.
and i had the lottery spamming script like 4 days ago.
i figured combine them both, release it 2 weeks before xmas so people have time to breed up, and everyone can join in! :)

@@ryannicklos634 To get different trainer IDs? Each of your friends will only have one trainer ID, the reason surprise trade is so great for it is because you're trading with someone new every time.

I didn’t even know that the lotto existed so this video was extremely helpful for multiple reasons!
Gave Pokemon Sword to my son for Christmas....so naturally I'm playing it. Just want to say that mystery trades have been better than I expected. I've got all 3 starters, a bunch of Shield exclusive pokemon and a Japanese ditto that I haven't checked IVs on (haven't bothered with the battle tower yet). I also paid it forward, caught a stack of farfetch'd, bred a box of mawile and sent them out.
The community seems pretty good.

I did shiny hunting for scorbunny on christmas and the day after and i filled up so much of my pokedex jus surprise trading; no shiny but it was great just getting so many pokemon and filling up the pokedex!

I got a Drampa through surprise trade after spending HOURS looking for one... Whoever that was, they were a kind soul.

Rare candies are not totally useless. I tend to save them for my last few levels to reach 100 since they are more efficient than the XL candies
Just a small piece of advice for anyone who thinks they're not worth saving.
You know there's a method to level up ur pokemon a lot by giving them jobs then skipping time so u get like 30000 xp per pokemon every minute

After watching this I started getting starters more frequently doing suprise trades
ur den farming video helped me get a gigantamax appletun and alcremie, tysm!
You can do a rotom rally and do the 120 second one and eight after it gurantees that your eggs hatch
I've been trading out my spiritombs i breeded getting my shiny blue razz boi, I hope it can bring a little joy to those who don't have time to find the grave in crown tundra and talk to 30ish people. ^^

You also could get master balls by trading a Pokémon for a Pokémon that holds a master ball and you could take the master ball away from it and into your inventory.
also update instead of walking to the den you can do the link battle airplane mode exploit to not need to reset in dens

This works, I just did it! After all the traded Pokémon were in my boxes it took me about an hour to get a Master Ball.
When hatching eggs, I always have my nintendo switch on December 25 so that all my pokemon are christmas presents with the date imprinted in their info 😂
When doing all the math, there was a complete missed opportunity to include some Scott Steiner math
Last night I joined a G-Max Garbodor raid, luckily it was shiny and thank God I had 2 Master Balls in my bag that was my first shiny G-max I caught, I missed a shiny G-max Sandaconda and it got away close to a week earlier, but Shiny G-Max Garbodor makes up for it by a lot
