If you can wait, get it used with 3 to 5k miles on it and save 10k. I just bought a 2023 G70 2.0 sports prestige. List 45k on sales used with 6k miles for 35k. I love it. And honestly, the 2.0 is certainly plenty of power. You might as well say I bought a new car! The technology on this G70 is mind blowing. You definitely MUST READ the manual guys to understand everything it can do for you. If not, you will miss out on so much. It is also a semi-antimonious drive if desired. Lexicon stereo is amazingly clear and sharp with 15 speakers. This vehicle is so much fun to drive instead of my boring SUV which I no longer need. The transmission, in comfort zone is virtually seamless. The car is agile and responsive. It truly is sport luxury and you can enjoy both aspects as you like. There are also many verbal commands most do not know. Drivers window up, down all windows up, down and so on. Navigation system is excellent and you have a ton of options to program the car. I like the "coast" feature to save fuel. If you do not want the transmission engaged with your foot off, you can glide to the next stop and save fuel. Why not? Auto wipers, distance control and so much more I can't begin to discuss here. Enjoy!
Compared to the stinger the exterior is nicer but the stinger has the better interior and the fact that it’s a hatch puts it above imo. If they made this a hatch it would win all day in my book.
I’m liking Genesis, I have a 2023 Kia Sportage X-Pro with a 2.5L engine. It’s a Smartstream nameplate, which means it has dual fuel injection. It also lets me know that my non turbo engine if equipped would produce more power.
In the interior and exterior appearance/style categories, nothing comes close to the G70. Alfa Romeo Jiulia comes close in exterior style but its interior is very basic. The 2023 CPO Sport Prestige I just bought for my wife, has the 3.3T and its performance and handling are stellar. I’ve owned BMW and many friends own all the German brands. Base models, that kind of compare to this price point, don’t offer the performance of the G70. Only their very expensive special, AMG and M-program cars do better. And as much respect as I have for German engineering (I own a 2017 Porsche 911 and will never sell it), my experience with other German brands is that a lot of components start failing after 70,000 miles. Genesis provides warranty far beyond that and I am not concerned about impressing strangers with the badge on my hood. The G70 Rocks!
A nice car with some great features/styling and the reason Genesis can give you so much car for that price point (I realize still a lot of money, however not by current upscale/luxury standards) is by sticking an overworked 4 cylinder turbo in it.
That I-4 engine is not overworked. It's one of the largest and most powerful I-4 engine currently available in NA. Need more power? The 3.3 v6 engine is available too. If you want to talk about overworked, go look at the VW Atlas with that little 2.0t engine without some kind of electric assist like Volvo.
Genesis is literally giving yall best there is for the price but I already know due to badge snoberry fanboys who won't ever give a chance to other brands will still go buy outdated boring is350 with less features and justify them getting ripped off with "but it's gonna last forever"🤡
how is a digital display better than analogue? everyone says this nonsense and I dont understand. Am I the only one who prefers analogue, physical dials and switches?
Um, since this is a Sport Prestige trim, I think that trunk lid has a button and motor to close it. Why are you closing it manually? That will be a warranty claim when that motor goes bad, I guess.
New rims are awful the more I see them. Don't buy one of these brand new, get one used in like new condition. I bought my 3.3t sport prestige for $10k off with only 4k miles. Car even still had wrapping on parts of the inside... All that to say, wait for some used ones to roll around, the price will drop at least $10k with very low mileage. These G70s don't hold any value when buying brand new which is great for used car shoppers, terrible for new car buyers, but everyone can't win.. The GV70s hold their value really well, but these G70s don't at all. Which again is great for used car buyers
My experience (and advice) is similar to yours. First- yes, the Sport Package wheels on the 2023 models look way better to me. And I almost always buy vehicles 11 to 18 months old. Let wealthy buyers take the brutal early depreciation. Then I’ll keep it 6 to 10 years, getting my ROI from use. The 2023 G70 Sport Prestige 3.3T CPO we bought last week has this gorgeous Red exterior, Black w/red stitching interior. Driving this hidden gem is almost as enjoyable to me as my 2017 Porsche 911. Last thing… anyone buying one should get the fully loaded Sport Prestige package if you can afford it. The additional options and upgrades elevate this car to top of the segment IMHO.
Anyone bashing on the G70 because the interior space is small is just juvenile. It’s designed for drivers 5’10” and under. For taller and or larger folks, they offer the G80, G90 and an SUV.
Some of the steering wheel controls have swapped sides (volume went from left side to right side). The steering wheel cover has a different non-oval shape. New 2D badging on the hood and steering wheel. New button arrangement for the overhead buttons, new frameless rear view mirror, darker trim on the doors and the center console. Redesigned wireless charge pad with a big NFC pad in the center (this is probably for the updated digital key functionality that lets you use a smartphone to unlock and start the car). Two rear USB type-C ports, USB type-c in center console. New switch gear for the audio/nav system with more buttons than the 22-23 version. Touch control climate. Standard Brembos with 'GENESIS' branding. Also standard twin exhaust system vs. the one sided dual exhaust that was on the 2.0T. Seatbelts on sport trims now match seat colors. Grey w/ grey black w/ black and red w/red. Previously red seatbelts came on black leather sport models.
In the end, it is a Korean car, Reliability is an issue. Who would throw their money away on this. Look at any survey of most reliable cars - buy Japanese. Toyota, Honda always dominate in reliability.
Fuel consumption (city : 20 MPG and highway 28 MPG) is the same as 2023 G70 2.0T. There should be a mistake in your numbers because g70V and g80 2.5T consume less than G70 2.5T.
$50k is not a bargain for this. It’s tiny inside and the interior looks dated especially compared to the new offerings from the Kia/Hyundai family. $42-45k would be more on the money, $50k is a stretch

I hate the digital screen craze and commend the g70 for provided you with more than enough tech while still focusing on interior quality and high end materials

I have a 2019 Alfa Giulia Ti Sport which I would say is a direct competitor in price, size, and performance to this 2.5 turbo G70. As someone who has had terrible past experiences with BMWs and Audis, my Alfa reliability experience has been far more positive, despite their reputation. I am frankly torn on the decision between the Alfa or this Genesis. What do you think in a comparison between the two? I think the Alfa’s suspension and handling would win out over the Genesis. The sport seats in the Alfa (though definitely not the base seats) are just gorgeous and comfortable. Genesis offers more electronic features I don’t really need (though ventilated seats are a great option that Alfa is missing).
