Sperm whales using a "super sound blast" is them using echolocation to find food. Basically, they make clicking noises to vocalize, but if they make a particularly loud click and have it travel backwards through their fat af forehead (which is there _primarily_ to power up their clicks for echolocation), then it bounces off their cranium while becoming a forward launching, powerful sonic wave that can potentially reach over 200 decibels. That is loud enough to burst your eardrums and mess up softer tissue in your body, easily injuring if not outright killing you. Luckily, sperm whales usually only hunt 1,000+ ft down in the ocean, so the only time you're ever in the vicinity of one of those clicks are when you are in an already protected environment.
As a person with thalassophobia these bad tiktok videos always help calm my nerves because I know that at the end of the day everything the slides say is definitely 100% not happening in this planets waters
The part that most upset me about the 2004 indonesia tsunami slide is that who make that slide use "unalived". Something that personally, I find disgusting
Censoring words relating to serious topics, which forces people to use slang to get around it just makes it feel like those topics have been cheapened and aren't receiving the respect they should
the actual danger of something underwater that could suck you up aren't caves but the intakes of power plants, those are clearly labeled but it's still a big hole a bit into the ocean that could swallow you up and potentially kill you. That said the only case I know of this happening, the guy survived.
While the acoustic blast was a genuine hypothesis it appears this article from 2016 titled "Sperm whale predator-prey interactions involve chasing and buzzing, but no acoustic stunning" disproves it and it appears that the clicks are instead used as a type of sonar to scan the area around it ("Rather, buzzing involves high-frequency, low amplitude clicks well suited to provide high-resolution biosonar updates during the last stages of capture"). Also sorry if this comment comes up twice the first isnt appearing for me (i think its cos i put a link to the article but idk)

fun fact: Although there isn't any 2 mile wide whirlpool in the middle of the pacific, there have been massive ones larger than old sow. After the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami, huge singular whirlpools opened up in the ocean. No, they don't look like the ones in pirates of the Caribbean. But I recommend looking it up because its pretty cool and there's plenty of videos of it.

An actual weaponized sound blast is used by parrots to ward off predators
Submarine sonar will do the same thing- turns out big sound waves hit hard no matter where they're coming from.
Sperm whale themed conspiracy theories are still ten times scarier than alien UFO themed ones.
I love it when someone smarter than me shows up and further expands on info in the video.
@@Slormpington I love the video.
Sorry if the editing is worse than usual. I got laid off from my job and have been in a bad mental state.
It was fine, I hope your mental health gets better, I've been in a bad mental state too 🩷🩷🩷

Blame UA-cam for shadowbanning and demonitizing people for saying... anything even
@@JonathanNormandyTBF, The slides coming from Tiktok, so they're more "sensitive" there compared to YT

The fact that sperm whales can use a god damn Warden shriek, is way more interesting than any of these made up facts.

@@Namu-cq7pk Wow, after reading that article, I stand corrected! Still, sperm whales using sonar is still pretty interesting.
Yeah, it can one shot full netherite armour

This is like a kid writing answers for homework without knowing what to do and the teacher (you) has to manually read each one.
You can’t just say perchance
The whirlpool debunk is such a relief. The ocean is daunting enough without entire vortexes with massive sea monsters waiting at the bottom.
