      That's probably how the pronunciation was lost. People were so afraid to say it that they didn't teach anyone how to say it, and then the only people who knew were killed by the Romans or something

    • @mattwo7

      @@mrcombustiblelemon2902 IDK but it always irritates me when people say that in response to someone saying "god" it's like "Do you even understand your own religion?"
      The answer is usually no because Christianity is far too often just used as an excuse to be terrible people because of their _supposedly_ benevolent god (I say supposedly because said god ruined the lives and/or killed thousands of random Egyptians when Ramses was the target and an _all-knowing god_ (which according to Christianity, is a trait that Abraham's god has) would know Ramses would never repent)
      Also they can't even comprehend that their god is non-binary, being entirely transcendent of gender and keep using "he" and "father"...

      @@mattwo7 They use male pronouns because Yahweh created Adam in his image and likeness, which was the first man. While Eve was created from a rib of Adam instead being modeled after God directly.
      As for Christians, they have it easier as according to their doctrine God made himself a human man in the form of Jesus, so they have an even better excuse as for why refer to God in male pronouns.

    • @mattwo7
      @mattwo7 3 роки тому +10

      @@RarutoUchiha2 "Yahweh created Adam in his image and likeness, which was the first man"
      Basing something on another thing does not imply a one to one correlation.
      Besides, Abraham's god is supposed to be transcendent of the physical plane to begin with so how does it have a "image and likeness" to begin with? It's literally just a powerful spirit.
      The more you think about the bible, the less it makes sense, religion really relies too much on blind faith.
      "God made himself a human man in the form of Jesus"
      According to Christianity, Abraham's god is supposed to be omnipresent and thus everyone and everything so Jesus isn't even special in that regard, so this also makes no sense. This religion contradicts itself in so many ways, it's absurd.

    It has to be a soft c.
    1. We don't know the origins for the name 'Arceus'. All info we have is fan-sourced. We never got any confirmation about any of the words. So the connection with Arch/Archeous is just a likelyhood, not a fact. It could be derived from Arcesius, Zeus son, the king of Ithaca.
    2. Arceus original name in JP is spelled アルセウス ARUSEUSU. Pay attention to the セ - it can *only* be pronounced as se/ce. If they wanted it to have a hard 'k' they would use ケ instead and it would be written アルケウス ARUKEUSU.
    3. In most international material the pronunciation is either the soft C (Spanish/French) or the common TS (German/Italian).
    4. The unwanted connection with arse/arses is a really good explanation why the shift from /s/ to /k/.
