In Germany, a lot of people say its name like "a-tsois" (with the a pronounced like the last "a" in banana), because "e" and "u" form an "oi" sound in German.
I used to watch MandJTV, but that’s a little off. Unfortunately no official sources (to my knowledge) actually call it Arkoos. I never thought of the whole british rude word thing but I've always said "Arse-eeus"
mhm
Ar-see-us is how iv said it
You're basically saying "butt us"
アルセウス (a-ru-se-u-su) is the Japanese for Arceus, so the proper pronunciation is are-say-oos.

“Are-Key-Us”
I go by the movie. Although, I also sometimes go by Japanese (but also, like, never), and say “Are-See-Us”.
I just call Arceus: “Mother”, “Mama”, “Ma”, “Mum”, “Llama Mama”, “Llama God”
I know Arceus’ gender is ambiguous and most like to refer to them as a male and a father since they usually get compared to the Abrahamic/Monotheistic God by Pokémon fans in general, but personally they feel like a mother-figure to me. It’s kinda weird, but it gives me comfort.
Mikey: ITS ARKOOS
Have you seen that one meme-comic with the OG-regi trio?
You aren't alone
interpretation accepted as headcanon now
It actually is pronounced Arkoos
Luma vibes
I wonder how it's going to be pronounced when more trailers for Pokémon Legends come out.
I usually say "Ar-Kay-Us" as well. Though I was very confused back when it came out thanks to an Episode of "House" wherein he (House) makes a Pokemon reference by mentioning "Ar-see-us" as well as the announcer on Battle Revolution.
Non-game-related media says "AR-see-oos". This is evident in Detective Pikachu, as Pikachu himself invokes Arceus as we might say "Oh my God".
Game-related media says "ARK-ee-oos", such as in the case of Silvally's RKS System ability.
Use either. Game Freak doesn't much seem to care.
Fun fact: Pipi is Clefairy in Japanese.
Nobody:
Absolutely nobody:
Clefairy: Yay I am Arceus now!

I.e. the real name eh haha
Did... Did this joke just go full cirlce!?
I use both depending on enphasis. Arch- is what I think is more correct and has more of divine sonority, but Ars- is easier to say
9:35 Pipi means "Piss" in Spanish.
I just laughed loudly.
As someone who speaks Spanish I can confirm that this is actually true.
In English It's baby talk for male genitals. Witch is a sentence I never thought I'd say
Aaaaand in italian as well
As it does in many other languages ;)

@that one animator YOU'LL FLOAT TOO
In the direct that brought us Legends Arceus, a game all about this specific Pokemon, in an official presentation, Takato Utsunomiya's English dubbing voice actor pronounces it as Ar-Key-Iss
To hear all those English pronunciations makes me really glad that in german it's just the Discussion whether it's "Arkeus" or "Arseus" lol
French looking at the rest of the world because our language can only allow one pronunciation of Arceus.... Latin language wins bitches.
Und Arzeus
@@NaomiAlicia4242564 Dude, if we had ONE pronunciation, the anime wouldn't go with the soft "c" and ugly "eu" way. And it gets me mad, because I hadn't taken Latin courses yet, but when I saw the end in -us, I immediately thought "oh, this is the god of Pokémon, it ends like a latin word, guess it's pronounced Arkéus. Neat." And the ANIME didn't get it. Latin language did NOT win.
I think the Portuguese and maybe Spanish have one and only one pronunciation, though. Kind of... Now I'm doubting.

As someone who played battle revolution and never really watched any of the films, while also having been an easily amused British kid at the time: "Arse-ee-us"
yup, sounds abt right to me
I also say Arse-ee-us. I also STILL call CURE-EM "Ky-u-rem"
Thanks to the root words and the RKS system, that’s pretty much how I pronounce it: “R-K-S (Ar-Kay-Ess)”
I haven't watched the video yet but I always read it as "Ar-see-us" and I'm British lol

It’s Arkoos, all the real ones know that
Edit: I just read the other comments... I’m unoriginal apparently
It’s no problem! I was going to comment that too!
That's the problem with rehashing stale memes. It stops being original after awhile.
Yes
Ar-koos is most correct
Hehehehehe! Beat ya to it!
Well Arceus can become any single type and master any single thing, so why don't we just agree that its name can be pronounced in any one way that people choose for themselves? Why can't every iteration of Arceus be the correct and one true iteration of the name???
I would agree with you except for the fact that the one true pronunciation is actually Arkoos.
@@gavingilchrist9346 Well that's just cringe.
A legendary name by any other Pokémon will just as powerful, especially because you can give it nickname.
When everything's worse we'll nap that type:null (only true sinnoh stanz will get this)
Lockstin! I want to see the astronomy of necrozma , solgaleo and lunaala . They are deep and rich but you only covers the alchemy aspects .
I have a theory that lunaala might initially be a blue star before being worshipped as the moon. It fits perfectly.
Well, the moon (as well as the sun) is a planet to those who practice astrology and the word planet originally meant wanderer.
Cosmog is literally a nebula. That is not astrology
In my head cannon Arceus name is in Latin, and so it can be pronounced in 3 different ways and always someone is gong to tell you it's incorrect. Personally Ar-se-us is easier for me to say because my native language is Spanish, but i find it funnier to say Archeus (with the che part like saying chef).
In Germany, a lot of people say its name like "a-tsois" (with the a pronounced like the last "a" in banana), because "e" and "u" form an "oi" sound in German.
Ye I do too. I thought the ceus was derived from Zeus, which in German is pronounced like "tsois". So I thought that was the reference
It's definitely "Arkoos" I have it on good authority
Yes Arcoos we follow MandJtv
Arkoos and yaveltal
I used to watch MandJTV, but that’s a little off. Unfortunately no official sources (to my knowledge) actually call it Arkoos. It would be more correct to say Key-Ogree instead of Kyogre and Groo-Don instead of Groudon because of that one bit in Pokemon (I think the pokerap) when they mispronounced it.
Ngl it’s pretty annoying (but kinda funny) people _un-ironically_ say it.
mandjtv fan alert
Bro I’ll hail yeah to that
The katakana for Arceus is アルセウス (A-RU-SE-U-SU) so I'm sticking with AR-say-us.
If it was supposed to be Ar-kay-us or something similar I would imagine the katakana to be アルケウス instead.
"Human stop poking me or I'm sending you to the distortion world!"
If Arceus was pissed, he would murder them all lol.
I believe they stated that the official pronunciation is “Ark-ee-us”.
Yes they changed it do to fear of it sounding like arse to English people but it was originally pronounced with a soft c.
2:16 sorry lockstin my dad made me pause at this exact time lmao
