Love this quote at 20:19 "You don't need to look for peace, calm, joy, because when you look for them they will disappear. If you look for peace, peace will say 'I am busy, you have to make an appointment' ".
People instead of look externally for happiness need to look internally, too many people just try to escape themselves all the time lol.. we are in a world of people uncomfortable in their own skin.
thought is ok - emotion is ok - feeling is ok ..........what counts is the way we REACT .... THE WAY WE REACT TO THAT ....... reaction is a sign of fear .... you don't get rid of the clouds - you just have to connect with the sky .... peace - not fear --------- go softly into it ....... you cannot go with fear into it .....
Some notes from this video: 0:00~1:14 result of meditation: mind become calm, peaceful, pliable, workable, freedom, happiness which do not rely on external environment is the byproduct. 1:14~4:43 result of meditation from scientific perspective: changes in neuroplasticity, neuropaths, neurogenesis 4:44~5:21 meditation on awareness, love and compassion, wisdom can change baseline 5:22~ essense of meditation: awareness, i.e. knowing(beyond subject & object, self-luminosity ) (usually 1.we don't know it exists; 2.we don't know how to get in touch/connect with it) e.g. awareness is like sky and thoughts, emotion, memory, perception, feelings are like clouds; cloud is NOT sky; If you don't know main quality of a watch(which is to tell time), watch cannot tell you time; Ignorance= we don't recognize our innate qualities;==> trap in the body, time, subject, object, mind become small==> freedom comes when we recognize/connect with out innate qualities! 1.we don't know it exists(too easy, too close)==>need teaching 2.we don't know how to get in touch/connect with it==> need practice(awareness is important) 16:42~19:32 2 common mistakes about meditation(1. meditation think of nothing, empty mind empty brain 2. meditation is peace(the important is to connect with sky but not to get rid of clouds, don't do anything with clouds)) 19:33~21:32 how to connect with awareness; don't block or look for something, since we have not achieve freedom of mind yet. 21:33~ 3 stages of meditation experiences: 1. waterfall; (24:48~: 27:56 2 rough experiences+ 3 peaceful expericence during this stage: agitation, dullness; clarity, joy, non-conceptual experience); 2. river(29:31~30:50); 3. lake without wave(30:51~): can remain in awareness almost 24 hr/day. You are very precious, you are the key to find the answer (of the universe/liberation).
What I appreciate the most in his videos is that he doesn't use confusing, vague language. What he says and the examples he uses are clear, simple language.
I want to thank you for your lesson. I have ADHD and Bordeline and find it hard to keep calm en control my emotions. Yesterday i was Trying to do your teaching in meditation and for the first time in Many Many Years i could hear my self in my head. I start to cry and feel lik there is maybe hope for me aswell. Again thanks for your wisdom. Much Love from the Netherlands.
I would like to advice you to begin with non-conceptual understanding i.e. to really let go of the concept of ADHD. Over the years, you might have heard and created a lot of internal dialogue about this. Let go of it all. When you begin to meditate, a lot of that might come up, simply maintain the focus on the meditation object. What you are trying to do is build up the habit to focus - it will takes 2-3 months. Most of your suffering would be related to the subconscious autonomous thoughts, let them come and go - while you focus on an object. Meditation is an exercise, a skill - takes about 1-2 months to develop. Your mind is highly adaptable and it can always learn a new habit. I would recommend meditating 15-30 mins per day. I am sure you will succeed.
Discovered this miraculous man yesterday at night and thought I wouldn’t watch that long video (“Meditation and going beyond mindfulness”). Surprisingly to me I couldn’t get my eyes off of him. Just was amused and amazed and altogether. I was sleepy as well, and usually in such state I just keep watching and then fall asleep but I just paused so could finish it in the morn as didn’t want to miss anything he’s saying. So fun and so engaging to watch, to listen, wow just wow This man just really worth bingeing

Thank you UA-cam for having lovely program on Net🙏🙏. I think people who are depressed must listen to mindfulness by Mingur Rinpochey which is mind healer . Thank you Rinpochey ly for your valuable services in how to train the monkey mind . Today we people badly need such a wonderful knowledge to overcome sucidial thoughts or any mental problems in our day to day life.🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💯
First time I'm hearing a Buddhist Monk speaking about the awareness that we are; normally hear it from elsewhere. Don't know why it resonates so much hearing it from this man.
This man is amazingly kind and centered and energetic! Imagine if all the people in the world were like this. That's heaven on Earth. Thank you Universe for giving us Yongey.
Yongey Minghur is one of my favorite Buddhist teachers because of his natural sense of humour and his patient way of explaining something as seemingly complex as life. His analogy of the road to Lhasa having many high and low roads as life does made me think of the sacred Tibetan Mount Kailash, which Tibetans willingly do prostrations around. It's impressive that Tibetans, who already have a challenging daily life, would willingly perform such a duty. Tibetans are such good people, and their contribution to Buddhism should never be forgotten.
How dare you dislike the wisdom on the words of Yongey Mingyur? Perhaps you are jealous of his wisdom and your soul just doesn't get it. Tashi delek la for the awareness. My life is so much better just to listen every day! So grateful to have the opportunity to learn with... Namaste 🙏
At times I'm lost in a sea of worry and doubt, bouncing between the past and future. Upon watching but more importantly listening ,I now FEEL have a life vest and a compass. I am thirsty for your calming words, & guidance Thank you so much 🙏
of course you are.. you can also get poetry, trust me you will feel much better, this guy is horrible at talking anyhow, not to mention he doesn't have a clue on the topic..

I feel totally blessed 🙌 😇 🙏 by your precious words. I feel very very happy to have you as my root gurus. Long live to you and hopefully 🙏 to see you one day 💛 ❤ 💙 💓
Dear Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, Thankyou for your time & explanation, You are a very light filled person, you seem very kind compassionate & take the time to express that the process of meditation is journey of many little steps not bitting off big portions of effort but many little bits that lead a pathway of consistency You have a warm disposition, ThankYou for taking the time to make this place a little bit less of an effort to deal with Many Many Thanks, You have a gentle nature which helps to understand easier, You are very much appreciated, anyone whom takes the time to teach with a good nature is worth listening too, You are one of these people.
Thank you 🌹. This is indeed where I am right now in practice, just being here, aware, trying to become more aware whilst 'doing stuff', not just when lying down in bed, but also when in conversation with other people, whilst eating, practicing mindfulness in situations where my ego tends to get anxious, but learning to distance my true self from the feelings in my body & thoughts in my mind. I am not my body/ mind, I am Pure Awareness. I am so thankful for our Global Awakening, with the help of the great teachings and platforms such as You Tube. Much love and many blessings to us all ❤🙏
27:00 - The way to Lhasa. That analogy was pure gold. "...so up (in the mountain), is getting close to Lhasa. Down (to the valley) is also getting close to Lhasa."
I find Mingyur Rinpoche's advice and teaching really helpful and inspiring. I also recently came across the writings of Marcus Aurelius, he was a Roman Emperor and Stoic Philosopher. He said things like "You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength." "Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking." "When you arise in the morning, think of what a privilege it is to be alive, to think, to enjoy, to love..." Wisdom is the same really, whichever tradition it comes from. 🙏🏽🙏🏻🙏🏼
You do not have full power over your mind. We have autonomous thoughts from our subconscious that are out of control. In Rinpoche's words: The Monkey Mind.
OMG. I am in teras here. Finally I understand whats happening when I am meditating. Its so important to have a teacher and learn these details. Thank You 😃
Finally someone who said "meditation is not about having an empty mind" Because my brother always says having an empty mind is essential and everyone else is doing it wrong and I always object him.
Realising that the cup is dirty and water just brings everything forward was helpful! Glad that it’s a good sign when it's getting worse at first. You cleared up a lot of things for me. Thank you for your insights.
it is the same as "after rain comes the sun" or "its as darkest just before dawn" never give up, always keep pushing, being able to handle hard times will make it better for you when more hard times come.
Thank you so much Rinpoche for all these helpful videos. I recently stared watching your video and I have been suffering from panic attack for more than 3 years. You video do really help me. Your way of teaching really calm me down and give me hope. Thank you. Thank you.

Yesterday I did my first guided meditation for two friends. they asked me since I am the one more into that. I talked about the clouds and the sky as I found it very helpful when I started. I wanted to deliver a good experience for them. I was nervous too. I had many clouds as well. As you say. In order to really clean and process what's inside you need to make it turbulent for a while and be OK with that. They thanked me a lot for that 10 min friendly meditation. And only then I started to see the progress I ve made in the past few years.(despite of my last setbacks) I was surprised I was able to convey and inspire a little about meditation. And lately I ve been in a really chaotic situation due to self contradictions and ups and downs of life and for me it was eye opening. I am so grateful to be able to be of help even it's just a little bit. It's not easy for anyone. Also, I realized I have been a tyrant to myself not allowing myself to be happy and and a true friend to myself To water kindness towards myself has always being neglected which only exacerbated my ups and downs. I am so grateful I am starting to see that. I have improved and can improve more. I can be a friend to myself, a really good coach, etc. And I can also help others see things in a different light. It's awesome. Thank you!!! Really inspired :) ❤
No language to express my gratitude to you for get me known that the truth of the universe lies within us. You have explained it in such a simplified way, I really have the treasure of something inexpressible. ...Lot of thanks
Thank you so much Rinpoche for sharing your experience and knowledge in plain and simple english. Knowledge is inherently in us. Meditation an important way to experience it.
it's true what he says. I can confirm this trough personal experiences. I hope many people will find this, this message, and experience of this given. Ty Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche for the clear explanation of this!

Also, I realized I have been a tyrant to myself not allowing myself to be happy and and a true friend to myself
To water kindness towards myself has always being neglected which only exacerbated my ups and downs.
I am so grateful I am starting to see that. I have improved and can improve more. I can be a friend to myself, a really good coach, etc.
And I can also help others see things in a different light. It's awesome.
Thank you!!! Really inspired :) ❤
