And many years later We get ta know the origins of Sagat's chest scar: At that time Ryu got possessed slighty by the Satsu No Hadou durin' that fight against Sagat.
Fun fact: the fireball, dragon punch, and tornado kick were secret moves meant to be discovered through playing. Introductions on how to do them were never published until after the mass popularity of 2nd one. That's why they take so much damage off
People keep saying how much they hate this game but thats almost like saying I hate the first model T or the first plane the wright brothers made.I grew up in the 80's when arcades was the place to be and this game got the center of attention for a long time.People gotta remember their wasnt really alot of fighting games out that look like this so I look at this game like a fun antique to collect. Sf1 came out in 87 I mean what the f*ck this was ahead of it's time and if it wasn't for this game it probably wouldn't be a sf2,or mk,killer instinct, samurai showdown ,fatal fury , or any other freaking fighting game you ever played so respect the old wit the new cause only the only people who talk ish about it probably wasn't even thought of or let alone their parents ,
The background and music was 🔥🔥🔥 specially the bonus stages I even like the muffled voice because it was kinda funny and add a certain gritty sound to it like some old karate movie
You're right, how could you not enjoy the experience of beating Birdie in a fully packed arcade room after receiving a couple of head butts? The music is great, as well as the nationality concept, the fighting schools are well represented, the characters look human, not beasts as in SF2 and so on, what else di they want? It was 1989 when I first saw it in arcades, wish I would have bought that machine...
I remember not being able to find this game anywhere in the 90s. There were no cabinets, no copies to be found on shelves in any store, and gaming magazines all acted as though SF2 was the first game in the series. When I finally got to play it in 2005, on a PS2, I immediately understood why Capcom buried this game. Street Fighter 2 was a dramatic improvement in every conceivable way, and there was just no reason to go back to the original once SF2 came out.
Outside of a few of these guys, most of the fighters in this game never make a return, which I think is a shame. I think it's high time they bring these guys into the new generation.
Geki and Mike were prototypes for Vega and Balrog, respectively. So that's why they didn't make a return. Retsu and Joe just aren't that interesting. I could see Eagle coming back, though.
I remember when this game was the hot new game at the popular arcade at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. Looked so cool. Never would’ve guessed we were seeing the mostly forgotten prequel to a legend
I remember when Street Fighter 2 was just getting popular in the arcades and there were crowds of kids around it. I wanted to play but there were many others waiting to play so I went over to play this game instead. Disappointment hit hard that day.
It was only released for obscure consoles like the Amiga and Commodore 64. You also had no chance of finding an arcade cabinet anywhere after 1992 or so.
You have earned the distinction of "king of the hill". But remember, you have no time to rest on your glory or your glory accessories, I tell you hwat.

Street fighter 2 still the best for me , those fatal fury clones are more of a lil advanced version of this game since it's the same guy who created it .
Something funny with the voices? Or is it just me? Still, interesting game play. I saw another run where the only move showcased was the dragon punch. So much for creativity. Congratulations.
Best version of SF, humanlike, realistic characters, not exagerated moves, except Adon, wish this version was fully developed and not that exagerated beastlike characters with inhuman moves in later versions.
I really like this game despite most not being a fan of it. - Showing as it does the early part of the Street Fighter story and showing how Ryu became so formidable by the second game despite being just another fighter in this one.
Thank god the sequel VASTLY improved on every aspect of this game. That voice acting is atrocious. I do love the music and stage design. It is cool to see Sagat, Gen, Birdie, Eagle, Adon and Lee become part of the franchise years later.
Steeet FIgher es unos más difíciles yo jugaba en PC internet online no se puedo jugar bien pero bueno igual con lanzamiento de street fighter 2 todo un éxito pero ese de los 80 hoy en día muy pocos se relaciona con el juego de peleas
This was everywhere back in the day. A hard game to master, but tons of fun once you do.
I really like how you finished off Sagat with a dragon punch (shoryuken), which is actually the canon version of what happened. Well played!
That was how he got the chest scar.

That and they are a bitch to pull off because of the restrictions!!!
"But don't forget there are many guys like you all over the world!"
That would change with the debut of Chun-Li.
Tell this to Guile.

Besides, this game has a great soundtrack, the sequels not so much

And Lee moved to Tekken and Adon to Soul Blade/Edge, and loving how Mike is Balrog in the 2nd game. Or am i wrong?
mike is still in SF2 as a cameo for the into fighting against joe (if im correct)
@@binkaram6577 no, those characters have his own names, you can found on the street fighter v page.
My dude Birdie got the same treatment as Col. Nick Fury

Wow, they REALLY improved on this with the sequel lol

Ryu with red hair and pancy red girly shoes. Amazed how they improved in part 2!
Street Fighter Alpha did bring the hair back but the shoes were lost...
Kids: Dad, what is the new wifi password?

Why do most of the samples play at a much lower pitch than they're supposed to?
Ryu's cute dancer shoes 😀
did this game come out in America? I never remember seeing it at stores or at blockbuster.

I would love to play this game again on the arcade !
The one started it all
5:38..played this in 1991 and being a early tf2 world warrior fan this game SSUUCCKKEEDD and this moment is the game in a nutshell.
Street Fighter Longplay (Arcade) [QHD]
Why do they say "Michael" instead of "Fight"?
You have earned the distinction of "king of the hill".
But remember, you have no time to rest on your glory or your glory accessories, I tell you hwat.
A gaming magazine I read a long time ago referred to this game as "an interesting, but ultimately unplayable footnote." I now see why.

Nice run. I liked that you mixed things up and not just relied on the special moves to win. Even your defense was on point.

Why the game audio is bad?
Hope the next SF bring the classic characters with new moves and classic outfit for them and the actual ones.

Retsu I wish they bring him back in the newer versions
That would be dope to bring him back just imagine vega vs Retsu his mentor
Double KO!
Its great that Capcom tried again - this could have easily just been seen as a failed experiment.
"Failed"? You just don't know what you're talking about. Context is everything.
@@mime3761 Not all games get sequels - even ones that make money. C'mon! Its clear what I meant here.
Its good to see the first appearances of some of SFs most notorious fighters like Balrog, Adon, Birdie, and Sagat.
Balrog was not in this game. The character you are referring to is named Mike
Gen as well

I really like how you finished off Sagat with a dragon punch (shoryuken), which is actually the canon version of what happened. Well played!
It was deliberate - I knew that's how Sagat got the scar on his chest, so had to make it canon 😆
Actually, it was a hadouken that knocked Sagat out. He charges at Ryu in a blind rage, after receiving his scar, and runs straight into a hadouken.
