If it doesnt work: YOU MUST HOLD POWER BUTTON WHILE CHARGING THRU USB2.0 is a MUST, - hold tight ur watch with a finger to ur charger (that is connected to USB2.0 port on your laptop), and at the same time hold the power button with some thin stick, IT WORKED !, thank you!
Where do I start! We thought my CEX Christmas gift Samsung Galaxy Gear Watch was dead! But, after googling, finding and choosing your video like a phoenix it lives and is 100% charged from my laptop... it came on immediately after plugging in and after a short time showed it had charged effectively which had not happened using the original plug and cable! I was delighted when I opened my present but this was short lived and if I hadn't thought to google and subsequently find you, it would have been returned much to my and my partner's utter devastation! it totally worked I had assumed my samsung watch was completely dead. Because like everyone else I use my wall charger, but I googled my issue got this video. Disconnected it from the wall, got a q-tip cleaned with alcohol/dry side, connected the USB to my laptop, wiggled it around maybe 20 times and bam I'm not at 40% already in 27 minutes. Think I should note I hadn't use my watch in over 8 months. Thank you thank you!!!

Is it not frustrating how much we depend on technology and it stops working? Grrrr! LOL. Thanks Chad for this advice, I am going to try this and let you know what happens. I would think that Samsung would supply a charging block with a detachable USB instead of the one that comes with it. I am sure that the R & D department knew about this "glitch" before it was released to the public...
The USB is another way to slowly charge the battery up, just a bit less amps you could say. Almost like a trickle charge on any other battery. The regular wall plug is to hard on it when it's dead. Thanks for the video it worked for me after about 1/2 hr in the usb. Question, can you turn it on while it's charging?
Ok just tried to turn on my Samsung Smartwatch after two years of it sitting dormant and at first it wouldn't work just as everyone else said. After trying everything else I tried plugging into the computer and after about 30min it lit up I now have power. Thanks.

Thank you so much for the help. Sent watch in to samsung for repair of this problem under warranty. Happened again and they wanted to charge me $65 to repair. It was 2 days out of warranty. Refused repair and they called me for 2 weeks wanting me to have repaired for the $65. Told them my next phone and accessory purchase would not be Samsung. Loved their products until the problem with the watch. Wish their technicians were more knowledgeable about their products. Watch charging. AGAIN THANK YOU!

Okie dok great thanks very much for the tips n tricks. I bought me the Gear S2 Neo but had to order a charger cradle dock for it. that came in last night so I hooked it up n threw it on the wall outlet. it has been there since last night but doesn't seem to have made a difference at all. worst part is I'm not even sure whether or not I could even tell if the charger was working to begin with by this afternoon with it not showing any signs of a charge on it. I tried lil while ago hooking it into my Desktop but didn't keep it there for much of any real time. so here is my question for you, and that is approximately about how long did it take you to fully charge or even for that matter to atleast verify it's charging at all???? Either way thanks again for ya advice with it!!!!

Thaks for help dude. if some people are struggling to get it to work, put you gear in the cradle, connect to the usb'> laptop and press power button on your gear while it's in the cradle (I used scizors).
Thank you, it worked, I think it has something to do with the charging current capacity of the cable. The Gear charger cable is very thin and so it has a higher current resistance, a standard USB PC connected is often significantly thicker and can carry a increased charging current. It looks like that is what kicks the Gear back into action. I have had the same issue with external hard drives that refused to spin up until I used a 'stronger' cable.

how long did you have it plugged in the laptop before you got some type of charge screen on the gear? Ive had mine plugged for about 30 mins now with no luck.
MMike913 Mine was almost instant once I plugged it into the computer. If it has been 30 minutes there may be another issue with your watch. Perhaps the battery is shot all together. I'm about to research how to take it apart because it looks like my screen is coming loose.

people I have a solution you do what I did. wear the dead watch around 6 hrs, wrist should be sweaty when removed, then wait 30 secs do not dry off the prongs in the watch ,then after you waited 30 sec charge it, then wait 3hrs to check up on it and when you do it should work and cut on. it worked for Me and my watch was dead for a whole 2yrs and now it works good as new to this day, reminder after this works for you keep battery levels high, and wear and charge daily, or you'll have to repeat this process! This probably sounds fake but truth is when the electricity touches the water/sweat it creates a tiny spark when then allows the electricity to flow through the watch.
Thanks for the info. unfortunately it's not working for me. Until a couple of days ago my watch battery lasts about a day and half of normal use. After letting the gear go flat it will not charge or turn on. I can't charge it with my USB chargers, pc USB, laptop USB or wii u USB. I have also tried a variety of cables in all permentarions. Anything else I can try?
It worked, I couldn't find the original dock, so bought a new charging port, turns out you gotta have the original, I somehow found it lol and connected it to my laptop, and after 20 mins it turned on and started charging!
