    What about when you buy the unit.. and still pay 3000 a month for food... there is no incentive to feed these people heathy food. I' d like like this subject explored. there hase to be a way for people to complain without fearing retrobution

    Currently working at a place that has people who cannot get up and go get water from the sink themselves. The company is saying that they are to only have those tiny dixie paper cups to drink out of unless the family brings them a water glass. That I am to immediately stop giving them glasses of water to drink from the facility kitchen. I have also been told that if family did not bring them toilet paper they are not to be given toilet paper. He said that medicaid residents are suppose to buy their own garbage bags, toilet paper and water glasses out of the tiny stipend they get per month. Do I need to just go get another job, or is there something I can do. They have a few hospice residents there who are in the process of dying who are not able to take care of themselves. I am concerned.

      Wow, isn't that sad? You didn't say what type of facility you work in. If it's a nursing home, then they should provide all those items. But if it is an assisted living facility, then their contract with the residents probably says that the resident is responsible to purchase such personal items. Maybe you could ask the facility social worker to contact family and ask them to bring in some items. Good luck.

      @@SofiaAmirpoor It is an assisted living. So, residents get about 200 cc liquids for dinner. Those little Dixie cups look to be 2-3 ounces. It appears the only way out of there for many of the medicaid residents is to experience the medical complications associated with dehydration.

      Some assisted living facilities accept Medicaid like nursing homes do. This does require spending down your assets until you’re at a poverty level though so you have to be willing to do that.

    They are rip offs!
    My mother went to live there independently and they assessed her and ended up charging her an additional $1200 a month in Denver. Rip off!!!!!

    Can you bring your adult child with you and a support dog? Can Medicare pay for it? What if low income?

    • @SofiaAmirpoor
      @SofiaAmirpoor  Рік тому +1

      That’s such a good question! The adult child would need to meet the age criteria of the facility… and I’d ask the facility of they need to have any physical limitations, but I don’t really think they do. And, yes, I’ve seen plenty of dogs and cats at assisted living facilities! But I suppose that would be up to the particular facility….you’d probably pay a per fee. The owner just needs to be able to care for the pet. I think parent and adult child both moving in is a great idea !

    71, homebound & assisted living next. I was in a nice one in 2016 for 2 months & back then it was $3,000 a month plus expenses. Private home but now its like $5,000 & i can't afford. I could smoke my medical marijuana in my room or outside & now it's still important since I have chronic pain but I refuse the vax now. Not an anti-vaxxer just this one.
    I'm very scared over the whole ordeal. If i don't like it then where do i go? I have no more options.
    & I'm a loner. I'd want my food in my room but would socialize a little in my own timing.

    does medical) pay for assisting living?

    • @SofiaAmirpoor
      @SofiaAmirpoor  21 день тому

      @rosamunoz7066 if you mean Medi-Cal in California, you would have to apply for the assisted-living waiver program. If you mean Medicaid, in other states., some states have an assisted living with her program and others do not.

      Do a Google search for Assisted Living Placement services near you. These are usually free services, at least I know that A Place for Mom is free. Good luck on your search!

    Can you accept resident that is memory care in an assisted living?

    • @SofiaAmirpoor
      @SofiaAmirpoor  2 роки тому +2

      In some cases yes. Some assisted living facilities have special units for residents who need memory care, but not all assisted living facilities have this.
