Welcome to my hometown of Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania. Please read the description for more information about this video. One correction, the Plank House is believed to be the home of the mistress of the pirate Blackbeard rather than Blackbeard himself. Enjoy! 😊
man I did so many things in that town growing up in the 1960s and knew so many people all over marcus hook, I shoe shined in every bar in that town in 1963. I remember working for ben jones, marie jones husband on a huckster truck in 1966....I have been all over that town thousands of times and will never ever forget my childhood days there.
Isn’t that the truth James. I loved growing up in Marcus Hook in the 1970’s. There was nothing like it. We had so much fun. And yes, I shined shoes too and made a pretty good living doing it. Thanks so much for watching the video. 👞
Thanks for the nice tour, I grew up in that area, Delco, and the auto part store jogged my memory. If I’m not mistaken it was the enterprise of Clark Turner. Some of the other Auto related players in the early days were, George Kerezi, Charlie Fenza, Meroni and Cresta. The word on the street was Turner was running a chop shop.
You are correct! I believe it was the late 1970’s or early 1980’s when Clark Turner was arrested along with “Gordy” (cannot remember his last name) and others. But because it was so long ago, I don’t remember who else was involved. I have many fond memories of my younger days in Marcus Hook. Thanks so much for stopping by. 😊. BTW: My father went to HS with Charlie Fenza.
Hello 👋 friend, I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. I moved out of Marcus Hook in 1985 and left Chichester in 1993. I have wonderful memories of my 10 years in Marcus Hook. I wouldn’t trade my experiences for anything. Thanks so much for watching. 😊
First of all... my best wishes to you, Terri Jo, for a year full of joy, love, happiness and good health! Your sightseeing videos of the towns all around Pennsylvania are always interesting. But this one is special, as you yourself have lived there for many years and that way you can share so many of your personal memories. I guess this town visit was special to you as well, comparing the situation now and from when you lived there. We also have a lot of history regarding the cities, but a famous pirate was never involved. 😉😄 You always were inventive to have some extra adventures, apparently. Telling your mom you had to work till midnight and enjoying some social time... 😉😄😛👍 Some sad memories too. That's how life is, right. Interesting about the church and graveyard! All and all, it seems a wonderful town to be living and growing up in. Thank you for sharing all, Terri Jo! 💙👍
Hello 👋 Carina, I had a wonderful time growing up in Marcus Hook, many fond memories indeed! Oh yes, life is one big adventure, LOL! When I was young my best friend and I used to call ourselves the adventurers! Aah, what a carefree time it was. ☺️ Thanks so much for your feedback and continued support. Peace and blessings to you! 🦄
I lived in Marcus Hook from 1945 to 1960. I wish you had shown the library, the movie theatre, and the building of American Visco where my father worked. I attended the public school and my sister and brother attended the Catholic school.
Hi I came across your channel with interest in Marcus Hook. My grandma lived in town in 70s in a rooming house above or next to a bar trying to figure out the location and name. Starlight or Star Brite. Her last name was Goldie Lucas. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Fran
@@user-oy8uj2qf3p hello 👋 and welcome. I believe you are thinking about the Star Bar. There’s a live-in hotel with rooms upstairs and alongside the bar. The Star Bar offered rooms in the 1970’s as well. The Star is located about a half block from the Marcus Hook bridge, on the right-hand side as you’re entering town. 😊
@terrijofilms305 now they have marcus hook deli they are my go to when I want a cheap hoagie or meatball sandwich they are life savers when I am short on money

Thanks for this. Moved years ago, and had an urge to see "home". This was really good.

Thank you for responding. I remember the sign. I even went down to the bar as a kid with my mom and grandma. It was a different era. LOL
Sinclair (not sure of spelling) was located as you entered Marcus Hook from Chester/
Haven’t been home since I enlisted in the army mom moved out when I left due to the crime going up
@@acekai3477 hello 👋 and thank you for your service. When was your last visit down to Hook to take a look? 😊
@@terrijofilms305 I drove through maybe 2023 my cousins still live in the village so I took my daughter over there
Does it still smell like motor oil everywhere?
Not as bad as it use to smell, LOL 🤣

@@danielszerszen7459 that’s cool! I’ve been to the Marcus Hook deli but it’s was a few years back. The meatball sandwich is tasty and affordable. ☀️
