When I livestream events, I like for the crew and commentators to be able to communicate via that output while muted during breaks etc.

Another great video! *Question* There's no dedicated Aux send on this mixer, so you used the FX Send and controlled the send level with each channel FX knob. Doesn't that also increase the effects on that channel - something you probably don't want? I need to send a feed of the entire mix to a single large Bose L2 or a powered subwoofer. How can I do that with no dedicated Aux send? Can I use the Phones jack and then control it with the Phones level knob? Thanks!!

By far one of the best explanation of how to set up. i'm planning to use this mixer with my Roland drum Kit, it uses TS cables out, will they work or will TRS or XLR give a better signal?
Super informative. I do have a question though. If I have a condensor mic plugged into channel 1 and a guitar in channel 2, will the phantom power have an adverse effect on the guitar sound?
I used a cable like what you recommended to connect my phone output to one of my Mackie ProFX10v3 inputs. The problem is you can barely hear the music from my phone. I tried different channels, some with gains and nothing improved the sound level.
I want to ask you a question that if output of an audio mixer is very low that active monitor is not able to deliver proper audible output then how to boost up its output to get a clear and boosted output.

Hi great video very helpfull for me who start to use a mixer and PAs system. Quick question where do you recommend to plug an edrum? on the balanced XLR (so using 2 XLR inputs) or in a common line inputs with Jacks?
Thanks for sharing these tips! I did not see the link for the recommended XLR to TSR cable. Can I use the FX Send as an Insert (meaning can I send the signal of all instruments that I have applied FX send to an external reverb (for example) and come back processed)? Or, if I use the FX Send with external unit, would I have to then send the external units output back to the Mackie (then, losing an Input!)? Thank you!

I've been watching a lot of your videos of weather to get the Yamaha mg10xu or the Mackie profx10v3 and I just want to get your opinion I plan to do some dual pc live streaming and some vocal recording, thank you
I think the mute buttons on the Mackie are better for live streaming and the blend knob on the Mackie is better for recording. It's a couple extra bucks where I live, but it's worth it IMO. The only big downside is that it has 60db of gain vs 64 on Yamaha.
So essentially, the insert port is an input and or output that goes to a standalone effect unit and then returns to the dual xlr input? ok i got it, y cable is needed, very cool feature
Hi should the "level set" LED on my Mackie ProFX10v3 light up at all? So far I haven't seen it light up once, am I doing something wrong??? Any advice on this would be extremely helpful as I'm using it at a live gig on 18th February 2022???? HELP please😳
I sing with a 4-member a cappella group, and it looks like that the 10 would work well. However, if we were to consider hiring two more singers, how easy would it be to mic them?
can you do a video setting the profx up with a windows pc. midi controller, and mic? I have everything working together until I try to play an audio track back from the pc while playing piano on the midi controller. At that point it's one or the other but never both. I've tried the 3-4 in out button as well as the 1/8" in from the PC out. It's holding me back big time and I'm about to switch to a standard analogue mixer with interface.
I think it makes more sense to output the signal from the control room jacks and mix that volume with the control room vol knob, rather than using FX Send as the control room/floor monitors pathway. This way you can engage effects through main mix. My question is- would the main mix effects also be layered in with the control room pathway?
With what you've described, you wouldn't be able to give the musician a custom mix in their floor monitor, they would get a copy of the main stereo mix. Most musicians really just want their vocal in the floor monitor.
I like this question! Just tried both FX send and control room out for floor monitor. I agree with Jordan that FX send works best for floor monitor, though it appears neither are able to give you an exact copy of what is coming through your main outs IF you use an effect. When you use control room outs, you only get a copy of your channel knobs, including the channel FX levels. Since you always need the FX level knob on a minimum to get the effect through your main outs, you will ALWAYS have way more effect through your control room outs than through your mains. So not an option in my opinion! When you use FX send (ie for floor monitor), the FX level knob (bottom right) does not influence your FX send, only the relative amount of effect to your main outs. The channel FX levels determine 1) the amount of volume to your FX send for each channel, and 2) the amount of effect (FX not muted) of each channel to your main outs. So to conclude for FX send: if you want effect through your main outs, you need to go in the audience to check if the amount of effect is what you want, since the effect doesn't go to your FX send. Since you don't want too much effect most of the time, that shouldn't be a very big deal I I think, but still something to consider. Also headphones don't help there, because they get the same copy from your channels as control room outs. Hope this helps at least one more person than myself 🙃
Please help me I have a laptop and a pioneer ddj-rb controller with RCA outputs, but will it be better to send the Audio through usb to the mixer? this way we save valuable channels. Will the audio quality be better through USB or RCA?
I have a single big speaker in a room with one main XLR cable plugged in. If I run a 1/8" TSR from my phone to two 1/4" TS cables into, for example, the 5/6 inputs, am I losing one side of the stereo channel? Should I use a box to merge the two TS cables into a single channel input for the mixer? My speaker also has a 2nd XLR input, so maybe it would be better to run two XLR cables to the speaker instead for the two main outputs? Or do I just need to get a 2nd speaker for the 2nd main output to make sure I get the full stereo output?
You have two options. You can either plug the two TS cables into 3/4 and leave them panned centre, or plug them into 5/6 and pan it left (if you're using the left output). Bonus points if you get a 2nd speaker, then you'd actually have stereo.

A question from a newbie Jordan. Is the "Pad" button on the Yamaha MG10xu the same as the the Hi-Z button on the Mackie ProFX? People say the Hi -Z allows you to plug a guitar directly into the mixer (no need for a D.I Box) but it appears to me that the "Pad" button on the Yamaha does exactly the same thing. Is this the case? Thanks all the way from Australia. LOL.

I have a profx16v3 and i'm going to a house event. I'm thinking of using one of the aux outs for a monitor and using a second aux out to go into a denon denon avr-x2700h so i can use their multi room system to also output my mix in every room. Would that work and what cables should i get for that. It will be a 20m run from the mixer to the denon, would a trs to phono cable be good enough or should i not go out of the aux and maybe use the control room out or something instead?
You should have covered ground loop isolators. It is a common issue since most setups use more than one outlet for it's connected components. It is especially an issue for DJ controllers with capacitive jogwheels/platters as it can cause the platters to glitch randomly when doing any scratching.
@@dpapaioannow The issue comes from using more than one electrical outlet for a single setup. Devices with ground lift (such as DI boxes or ground loop isolators) will allow you to connect your setup to multiple electrical outlets without introducing a ground loop. A setup involves every single audio component all the way from source to speakers. If 2 setups are connected to each other than it becomes 1 setup. Balanced connection will minimize the noise from a ground loop, but they won't completely eliminate the noise. To get the best signal to noise ratio don't have multiple paths to ground in a single setup. This will also prevent a DJ controller with capacitive touch to glitch randomly due to a ground loop.
Hey. Does is matter if I run my master outs to the sun and then up to the tops or run seperately? I find it sounds much better when I have volume control over my subs. As long as it’s crossed over at 80-100 it shouldn’t matter correct?
Thanks, very nicely explained, would have been more appreciable if you could have given a sound demo of the different FX effects provided with this Mixer. but still an excellent job!!
Hi there. I have a question. If i want to add a subwoofer independently from the main speakers and I want to control its volume independent of the volume of the speakers and I want to cut the low frequency for the speakers, 80/120hz, does it affect my subwoofer output? because I want to connect the speakers to the output of the mixer not to the output of the subwoofer, but I want to cut the low frequencies that go to the speakers without affecting my subwoofer signal. Is that possible? Thanks.
Are you sure that’s how the monitor set up works? I have the 10 channel and the 12 channel. The 12 has many knobs and 1/4 inch input specifically for monitor. The fx send hole on the 10 channel will act as a true monitor? The yellow knobs just adjusts amount of reverb or effect. Not the volume or amount of monitor. How would you control volume of the monitor while keeping the reverb on?
Bummer. I have the same exact question. This video was awesome!! So clearly explained, but I have been trying to figure out how to use a monitor with this mixer while keeping the effects on as well. I have the larger 24 channel version of this mixing console. I thought the monitor was controlled from the green aux knobs (whichever channel you want and then the master both are up) but I'm confused as to why I'm hardly getting any sound to output when I run a quarter inch speaker cable out to a non powered Sonic brand speaker. I'm going to play around more with it today, but my guess is a non powered speaker just doesn't have the proper capability to it?
When monitor lead is plugged in the fx send buttons act as volume but i’m thing the effects (reverb etc) are not independently controlled, i’ve tried your control room suggestion seems fine, and using the headphone out to a speaker seems fine as well, what do you think ?
You explain in a manner that a novice like me could understand. Great job

Thanks, very nicely explained, would have been more appreciable if you could have given a sound demo of the different FX effects provided with this Mixer. but still an excellent job!!
We have a special video that goes through all of them
How to connect the mixer with a dj controller? Thanks
Great question. Connect your DJ Controller to on of the 1/4” line level inputs.
@@kettnercreative with de USB yo The mixer it's possible?
How do you put a subwoofer on it?
Can the ProFX mixer also be used with passive boxes?
You bet. Just need a power amp.
@@kettnercreative Thank you for your for early response.
Hello bro...is that mixer mackie made in usa or china bro. Thank you
You're amazingly knowledgeable! Just subbed. Thanks alot for sharing.
Good question
@@brianwrightson7092 non powered speakers require a power amp in between the speaker and the mixer board.
When monitor lead is plugged in the fx send buttons act as volume but i’m thing the effects (reverb etc) are not independently controlled, i’ve tried your control room suggestion seems fine, and using the headphone out to a speaker seems fine as well, what do you think ?
On the smaller units like shown the FX output and knobs act as monitor output and controls once the FX is turned off.
Can the FX Send be used for subwoofer?
If you don't need the FX Engine, then you can use the FX send as if it was an aux send, to control your sub - yes!
does this mixer require an amp to run speakers?
Yes
What if I have a subwoofer where do plug it in
Why wouldn’t you play music through the 3.5 input?
You certainly can! Not all audio mixers have this, so we showed the method that most audio mixers have.
How can I use 2 monitors in this mixer
I’m not getting any sound out of my studio monitors
