    Nice! I've gone the same route about a year ago and found a nice little wrap around butt pocket on ebay to hold the 12V battery. I used a T20 with an "Olson" black led, tried it on cats and my sprocker and neither can see it. I mean safely of course, just illuminating the torch in front of them. Lights to about 100ft easily on low. It's on a TX200 which was already a gun weighing 30% more than any of my 12gauges, so a heavy set up. But a lot of fun. In March we had a small outbreak of rats, just 4, but easily cleanly dispathched in pitch black darkness. Neighbors either side wanted poison down, but pets, Kites, sufferin etc I'm not a fan. I'm glad I went this route, £200 but lots of fun and satisfaction, and very effective, runs 8 hours easy. Also good off gun just to look see whats running around in garden at night.

    Excellent video is really helpful, I have just started sourcing the items required to assemble virtually the same set up, to fit the same rifle as weihrauch also a .22lr & .223 as to swap out scopes for night vision means re zeroing, a real pain, this type of set up will fit all 3 cheers well put together video.

    hate to jump into your post Mark but Toolstation do the Floplast fittings at 68 p each,also its worth getting from Ebay a 2x doubler lens(they call them a 2x telephoto lens,they are threaded to fit on a camera but careful use of either a Dremel or similar with a sanding drum/stone to take out thread until its a push fit on T20 ) ,about £7 but doubles the range of the T20,for more help go to the nightvisionforumuk.com website,where I found loads of friendly people and advice when I built my NV.must say after I built mine I sold my Gen1 NV because the homemade was far better,happy shooting all and good luck,Alex

    The best recorder is probably an EasyCap... usually designed for recording VHS to DVD or pre-HD TVs with Xbox and other consoles, but it'd work very well for your purposes. I think you might need a 'T' adapter though.

    Hi Mark, I have virtually the same set up but using a cut down security camera.
    The problem I've got is picture clarity. I used a small old scope to save space (32mm)
    Will a larger objective lens give better vision or just amplify what I already have ?
    Great video m8 am making one now for a Hawk varmit scope.
    Many thanks,

    Hi, we've got it to the stage where the video ends, and are wondering is there a follow up for what to do next? We have got the cross hairs in focus on the screen, wanting to know how to get the picture through the scope clear on the screen so you'd be able to shoot the quarry.
    Thanks!

      +John Pearson Hi John, that is the exact problem I had when I started. What I have done is look at the size of the head of the rabbit in day light at say 30 yards and will get an idea of its size using the mill dots. from this I have been able to range with good success. I hope this size and mill dot combination works for you. Any other questions please contact me again John

      Mark - g'day mate ! we mainly shoot foxes, cats, and rabbits but depending on the region there can be feral pigs, goats or dogs. Pretty much all our shooting is of introduced animals. There is some culling of kangaroos but it is fairly strictly controlled. Interesting video, I've just started looking into this stuff

    • @mikeread9741
      @mikeread9741 6 років тому

      Just like to point out the cats we shoot in Australia are not your domesticated moggie they are feral wild cats that kill native animals. Like most introduced species that have been allowed to go wild they pose a threat to native animals this also includes dogs.

      +John West Hell John, thanks for the comment, a number of people in the US have contacted me about this very thing! 99% I must say have found the parts in the US via Amazon. The only thing that has appeared to have caused an issue for some is the flowplast bits. But they have been looking at Lowes and Home Depot not specialest plumbing stores. If I can help please contact me and I can try and help you out. It took me about 3 months to source all the bits for my build. If you look through the comments you will see one from a guy I think it was Michigan built one identical to mine and got all the parts in the US, I think his name was Bob Daymon. He should be able to help you build one, tell him you know me. Good luck John and thanks again for commenting, all the best Mark

    Do you think this is a camera that will work in a night vision project? If not where did you buy the camera You´ve used in your build? Did you specifically to remove teh filter too make the camera able too see infrared light?

    Hi, Mark. Great video.
    I've built a similar setup but I struggle to get decent focus on my screen.
    Can you recommend a distance to set the focus on the camera to?
    My NON-AO scope is zero'd at 30yards.

    • @MarkYaylor
      @MarkYaylor  6 років тому

      Brian Hodgson With my setup the E700 camera has a small grub screw that allows you to set an lock the focus. I then use the focus ring on the scope to bring it all into sharp focus. This will take some trial and practice to get it right, then I've marked the scope so I know how far to push it on the next time. It's a fiddle but it's worth it. Thanks for watching, mark

      Mark Yaylor hi again mark. I'm 95% setup just waiting for battery holder. I've used the same figure 8 weaver mount. but on screen mount. I drilled it and mounted to weaver with supplied screw x4 as left over weaver ring is threaded. is it worth mounting it as far forward on the scope as I can for torch purposes, do you think it would matter? thanks. tony

      Hi Tony, glad that is all coming together mate, I would say that it is totally a personal thing, bit of a cop out from me, but I have had my screen forward and back and prefer it to the rear giving me a comfortable head up shooting position for me. Hope this helps??? Mark

      Mark Yaylor cheers Mark. I've a play tonight. mounted it quite forward so torch didn't touch the top adjustment pot. torch at about 2 clock as you look down the scope. screen postion is great..all the wires tidy away nice in stock pouch also will take battery pack. so it's looking fantastic. been looking around the trees at about 60metre no problem at all..

    Hi Mark. I must say I appreciate the vid and that you´ve performed a "clean" build. looks very nice. There are some other guys that have been tossing their parts together without any thought of how it may look. My q is if there are any filters that need to be removed from the camera before it can send to the screen? I´m going to try to build something like yours, but I´m going to try to make a small box for the battery where I can connect all cables. Have U sorted out the problem how to record video from that xtra (white) cable?
    best regards Christer. (pl exc my poor language as I´m not Englishspeaking)

      +Christer Axell Hi Chris thanks for the feed back. the filter that was on the camera was removed by the people I bought it from they were extremely helpful and supportive.I have sorted the video recording by using a mini DVR recorder. the extra white cable is another video cable!
