Thanks for the tour! The philosophy and information that is behind the boot is just as important as the boot itself!

I love my Lowa boots. First pair (Renegade GTX) I got in 2010 and did quite a few hikes along the Florida Trail, AT, and parts around Germany before using them on a round the world bike trip from 2013 to 2015. Sadly near the end of the trip the soles started going, but I continued wearing them until Jan 2016. I wanted to get the soles replaced, but with the Renegade that is not possible, so I upgraded to the Camino because the soles are replaceable. The Caminos are my daily shoe and I wear them everywhere, hiked a few times through Spain, Germany, sections of the AT and Florida Trail, as well as just everyday walking! These are my daily shoes! Anyway the soles needed replacing and this is how I stumbled across your video. Searching on Lowa sole replacement because I just got them back from the local Cobbler and sadly they did a bad job replacing the soles. It's like they used a Vibram tennis shoe sole instead of a Vibram hiking boot sole. I noticed that Lowa is currently not accepting any new orders for sole replacement which is a bummer. In the meantime, I did order a new pair today and will continue walking around in my older pair until I can get the soles replaced with proper soles. Thank you for the video.~Ron

Hello from NZ, 'Lowa' Tibet boot is my go to boot. I was a mountain guide for nine years, have been in the NZ mountains for 50 years, taught bush craft survival etc and at 74 , still in the mountains. Last year I did 67 tramps (hiking), this year so far I have done 38, from 1 day to 5 day tramps (hikes). A pair of Lowa boots will last me 2 years, I am very tough on them (of course, if you you only tramp (hike) a few times a year, they will last longer).
In NZ they will cost you $800 a pair. I have worn them down to beyond the soul and find that they are beyond repair, resoling cost $200 approx. I find also that the inside back of the boot (heel) wears and splits, there is not much I can do about that except put tape across the split to avoid chaffing of the heel.. When all said and done, I find this to be the most comfortable boot I've ever worn. It was very interesting to see how they are made. Cheers from NZ

take something like barge cement, a really good adhesive, cut a piece of thin leather like buckskin, to fit area, and coat both boot area and piece of leather 2 times to almost dry to touch and put together. i have done this to save good boots. works. hope this helps. better than tape

They do have a number of plants throughout Europe that specialize certain parts of the boots but this is the original and main plant for them.

Every pair of boots and shoes I have ever owned that came with EVA midsoles or cushioning compressed to make troughs in the midsole that killed my feet. I’d get at best 4 to 6 months of wear before having to retire the footwear. You’re saying that polyurethane midsoles or cushioning will not compress like EVA and will last as long as the boot. How long is the boot’s lifespan projected to be? Will the polyurethane compress to form troughs in the heel and forefoot? I just read an article that says polyurethane breaks down whether it’s used or not. “The biggest difference between EVA and polyurethane is that polyurethane breakdowns down regardless of use. The technical term for this is “hydrolysis.” You will lose the shock absorbing qualities of polyurethane while your boots are stored in the closet. In fact, polyurethane will literally crumble after a time, even if you never wear them.” What am I supposed to believe. Who wants to pay $400 for a boot that you can’t wear 4 to 6 months later? Not me.

... Except polyurethane foams take 20-30 YEARS to noticeably deteriorate.

Would be interested to know if there is big difference in quality between the men and womens Lowa shoes/boots. I just bought a pair of Lowa Renegade LL Lo, although I am a woman I got the mens model. The shoe is beautiful, looks sturdy. Should arrive in 3-4 days. I read about the pink tax however, where a study showed articles made for women are made to lesser standards in general yet cost more. One theory behind this is that many women follow fast fashion and therefore tend to change their clothes/shoes more often, whereas men tend to hate to shop so once they find something they like they buy it and want to be able to use for many years. Cheers from 🇨🇦

Lowa is the opposite of fast fashion and these boots are not made for fashion. The womens and mens boots are identical in build quality and the womens boots are not more expensive. Aside from different shaped lasts because of the difference in foot shape between men and women, mens and womens models are exactly the same when you compare the same euro size.
