      It’s crazy isn’t it! I thought I was doing good for my hair by putting it in small sections before brushing it!… the improvements since changing are so clear! So I’d defo recommend trying this new way. The first few times I did it felt a bit awkward. But stick at it. Xx

    Very interesting. I detangle in four sections and my hair is already fine and I too suffer shorter hair in the middle and my crown area also gets very tender. I am going to try this it make so much sense. This maybe why my hair won't grow besides in layers. This is going to be a game changer. I'm so excited I am going to take pictures of my progress. So excited!
    Your hair is gorgeous by the way. Your hair is so strong my hair is always shedding or coming out. No matter if I detangle it it sheds from just touching it at times. I do have eczema on my scalp and I blame that for my hair condition too. I have not seeked medical attention for that. I know my hair won't be like yours but if I can get my hair the same length all over it would look fuller than now.
    Again thanks for this information. New here just subscribed!

    I have noticed a tender spot on my crown as well and i detangle in those four sections. I’m not sure if this method would work for my though since I have really thick type 4 hair and it doesn’t lay down for me to run the brush through like that. But I will definitely try brushing the crown in a single direction rather than splayed!

    YES ABBIE LET EM KNOW! I went through the same issues that stemmed from similar problems. It can be kinda annoying because it creates this frizz halo in my crown section but I’ve taken the time to re-adjust some things in my routine to help it grow (and it’s been working :))

    Hi, I have the same issue with my crown area. It's very short compared to the rest of my hair. Can you show your entire process for doing your hair? I mean the techniques you use while shampooing, conditioning, and then styling all in one video? My hair is thick and at each stage I feel like I'm just breaking hair off maybe because of using bad techniques throughout this process.
    All the best!

    The thing is, a denman brush is not a detangling tool, it’s a styling tool. It should be used after detangling. That’s probably why you have the breakage.

    • @yvonnestarr8933
      @yvonnestarr8933 2 роки тому

      Absolutely.! When using the Denman brush for detangling, it should be held vertically and horisontally for styling. Otherwise you loose too much hair.

    Great video! For some reason, it's like we all have crown breakage at some point. Mine was from years of parting my hair in those same 4 sections repeatedly, not for washing, but for styling. I had to change the way that I styled my hair so that the crown could start growing back slowly, and it has! I do less styles where I have to part in 4 sections, and even 2 sections can be damaging. I use less tension in that area.

    I haven’t noticed breakage in my crown area but I’m also using the Denman D38 paddle brush which is for detangling. This brush is more for styling so that could be the reason you have breakage but at least you figured out a solution 💯

    • @AbbieCurls
      @AbbieCurls  2 роки тому

      I love the paddle brush but I only tend to use that when my hair is blowdried. It works great on stretched hair but I haven’t found it very good for detangling my hair. I used to use those super gentle detangling brushes which are amazing! But I always tend to gravitate back to this denman brush. It’s what I’ve found most gentle and effective at getting my knots out xx

    Okay I’m locked in and interested in this because I’m suffering from breakage at the back of my head but close to the parts and I feel like it’s because I’m pulling those hair sections across to detangle. I can imagine that if my hair was out and straightened it would look like an upside down V if that makes sense. I’m apprehensive about trying this because my hair is thick too!! So hearing you say it works for you makes me a little more eager to try. I’ll let you know how I get on!

    Great video. Another reason you might be experiencing breakage is due to the use of a styling brush to detangle instead of a detangling brush. Denman actually sells a great detangling brush, but it’s not the one you are using. Hope that helps.

    I want to give you another advice, This brush Isn't the best to detangle as the bristles are harder and it pull and stretch the hair harder causing more damages in time that can translate in breakages, the best brush to use for detangling should be one that are specifically made for detangle as it has more flexible bristles that won't pull or stretch too much the hair, it will be more gentle causing significantly less breakage if it says "detangling brush" and you touch the bristles and see that they aren't as hard as the typical of demand brush but are way more flexible then this brush is better for detangling, i use the wet brush which is great and really gentle, brushes with harder bristles like denman brush are better to style and define the hair when the hair should be already detangled. If you want, buy a detangling brush WITH FLEXIBLE BRISTLES (like the wet brushes) and try it in comparison with the brush you're actually using and you will see the difference

    • @AbbieCurls
      @AbbieCurls  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Giselle!💖 Thanks for the tip. I’ve tried the gentle detangling brushes before. And I agree, they’re amazing. But I do find that because my hair is so thick, that they’re a bit too flexible to actually get through my hair. I’ve always loved the denman brush for detangling. I seem to always end up going back to it even when I try other great brushes. It’s the one I find the most effective and gentle at the same time x

    I stopped using brushes while washing/conditioning, and moved it to styling! I also would never use a denman brush ever again, because the D3,7, & 9 are not made for wet hair application. They’re smoothing brushes for blow drying! So now I just thoroughly finger detangle, then use my Felicia leatherwood brush while styling! Best decision ever

    Sometimes I ask myself..is it just me??
    The reason I say this is because I NEVER brought into this method of detangling with brush or comb. I just can't do it. My fingers are my best and trusted tools when it comes to detangling my hair. I can actually feel and isolate the tangles with my fingers so why would I want to use a mechanical tool? No one will ever convince me that brushes do not break the hair. Now I'm not saying brushes do not detangle the hair because they do. But they also cause breakage. And that's a fact. But some people want or are willing to cut down time detangling with risk of breakage.I don't. I have the satisfaction of detangling with my fingers.
