Johnny Fever vs. Mama Carlson highlight reel

- The eternal struggle for balance.
Anti-establishment verses the paleo-conservative.
Johnny sometimes calls Arthur Carlson 'A.C.'.
At the end of the last episode he shortened it to Ace.
A minor detail, but it stood out - Розваги
The encounter with Fever and Mrs. Carlson is probably one of the best moments of the series. Showing that Fever can be a great gutter fighter when he puts his mind to it. Bravo.
And I always loved Ian Wolfe as Hirsch. "Madam! Your physician is here!" And then Hirsch rushes out with that wonderful smile on his face. Love it!
I’m the houseboy.
I always sort of hoped that Hirsch was secretly robbing that greedy old snob blind. Just on general principle.
Agreed !
Can’t remember the episode but Mrs.C had a guest over and ordered Hirsch to make coffee and instead of making her the usual swill he made an epic pot😆!
@@johnschaefer2238 I don't either, but I do remember Mrs C complimenting Hirsch on the coffee and asking why he didn't make that normally. Hirsch replied, "Well, Madame, today, we had guests in the house." Leaving Mrs C a little put-out. 😆😆
WKRP in Cincinnati was one of the best sitcoms that had a radio station as its center for laughs. From 1978-1982 it was filled with huge laughs. Unfortunately, the show was moved around a few times that it lost most of its viewers. The idiots who program the time slots in Hollywood sure know how to kill a show. Thanks for uploading this...great memories 👍
It's more likely the yutzes in New York offices who handle the scheduling. Cali is only for filming. I too was disappointed when KRP was canceled.
Kinda like Mrs Carlsons WKRP. 😂
Most memorable laughs for sure ❤
It's network jerks. They who are supposed to know so much, know so little about the audience!!! Glad you enjoyed it. I was a big fan. It should come back on in syndication!!! Anybody out there agree??
The Banter between Hirsch and Mother Carlson was always so fantastic. Carol Bruce and Ian Wolfe. did wonderful scenes together. two Pros that is for sure
The Doctor rocks on! Gods speed Johnny Fever!
I found this hilarious especially considering that the Bengals just lost the Super Bowl. Talk about a time warp.
The Bengals need to spend the money to give Burrow what he needs.
@MLC Rider Agreed
Now if we could do the same with the music...
@@brianjacob8728 I don't understand. What does that mean? 🤔
I don't think the Bengals are going to this Super Bowl. I pick the BILLS! Go BILLS!
"So deeply warped even I get it" best thing ever said to management!
Loved Hirsch….
“Madame, your physician is here!”
I liked the way Hirsch first asked Johnny, 'It is doctor, isn't it?' ;)
@@DaveNarn after everyone leaves:
Mrs Carlson: “Hirsch, this coffee is delicious”.
Hirsch: “That’s because we have company Madame. When it’s just you and me, the recipe is a little different”.
No one could play Hirsch the Ian Wolfe did.
"Look like you going to work in the BIG HOUSE!" Venus with the zingers!
Travis, "I'am dating Mrs Carlson," Fever, " his mother or his wife," Travis, "his mother, what kind of a guy do you think I am. " Love that back and forth. Funny. I am still laughing.
I once, long ago had a button made up that simply read “Deeply Warped”. I wore it through my teenage years. I wish I still had it today. Thanks for the memory.
Nowadays instead of a button that would be a tattoo in a prominent place. May as well go all the way and do the whole line: So deeply warped even I get it. Bet that'd be quite a conversation starter.
Thanks for this post.
Up until a couple of weeks ago, I hadn't thought of this series in years.
I forgot how funny & ahead of it's time it was,
RIP Dr. Fever.
Thanks again. 🙏
You’re welcome. I guess kids now days would think it all pretty ancient, phones with cords and big vinyl discs. Funny that we all still like the music.
@@DaveNarn
Musically, I still live in the 70s & 80s.
As a matter of fact, I never left.
I've acquired other musical... 'flavors' along the way, but the 70s & 80s tunes are never far away.
I think this is where Dr. Johnny & I would've been on the same page.
One thing, though, digging back into this series...
It's fascinating how much society bought into the Loni Anderson brand.
She was gorgeous, & that voice was angelic.
But, that 80s hair....
2 hours to do her, I bet.
(I know from experience. My old girlfriend, back in the early 90s, was still carrying her 80s hair with her. Took her 1½ hours to do her hair, then it couldn't be touched until the end of the night. 🤣)
@@waden9815 Lol, I hear ya. Musically I live anywhere but now, real talent and originality is scarce. And that's being nice. Used to be I could press the search button once or twice on my radio and find a great tune, now it'd take a half hour to find something good.
Johnny and Venus, were the two kids in the classroom that always had to be separated for continually disrupting the class.
i blame characters like this for having me continually disrupt the class...
@@DickDiamond74 But you had fun though.
Some of my fondest memories were of those unexpected and well-timed comic interludes courtesy of several class clowns. Provided a welcome break from extremely dry and boring or intense material.
@@msr1116 Indeed, the disruptive forces of mirth deserve our deep and abiding respect.
@@Itelkner ....God love the goofballs in this world.....we so need them for comic relief. Long ago, I worked with a very reserved, polite young guy who attended Mass weekly.....and he turned out to be one of most hysterically funny, goofy, wacky guys I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.
Thank You! I love Johnny making Mrs. Carleson know what it feels like to be a worm on a hook. I love the last section, even if it was a bit rough to see.
Glad you liked it.
The last section was from the final episode.
I’ve seen a lot of the full episodes uploaded on youTube.
But Fox had a copyright block on that one, maybe due to one of the actors in a scene - I don’t know.
WKRP could have gone on four more years.
@@DaveNarn I’ve seen other UA-cam channels post this without blocking. It’s a great scene nonetheless!
@@DaveNarn
I think someone might have thought they were discussing illegal tax evasion.
There was at least blackmail going on.
this show was a riot..the episode with herb dressed as a carp fighting the wpig pig is in my top 4 or 5 funniest 30 minutes in tv history
Jennifer letting Johnny caress her leg while both sip rotgut hooch. Mmm hmmm... And that knowing smile of hers at 3:09 when everyone thinks she's distracted by her book. Jennifer ran that place!
BUT bailey was americas Sweetheart!
Great clips! I worked with Howard on Head of the Class. A fine actor; he is missed.
Thanks!
I've never me him, but I've always enjoyed his work.
Mrs. Carlson’s butler was great
Love their interaction!
Thanx for the upload and the memories!
Best show ever!
RIP Howard Hesseman. You I'll be greatly missed.
You're welcome.
Mrs Carlson’s profit and loss lecture sounds more like the network axing WKRP 4 years ahead of it’s normal run.
Prophetic, I wonder if the writers saw it coming?
@@DaveNarn Seems like you can kinda get the idea of a rough ride coming when you're riding high and the network idiots start moving the show around so people can't find it.
I'm glad this ep was the finale, as it turned out, bc it was a perfect ending.
@@echoecho3108 the head of cbs didn't like ed asner (Lou Grant) and howard hessman being activists. so they separated the shows, so they would both do badly and have a reason to cancel both. unfortunately it worked.
@@ralph0901 That sux. Such stupidity. It always boils down to politics.
Too many good, no, make that great, shows got killed bc of network idiocy, and crap shows live on.
So sad.
@@ralph0901 I have heard the same.
Good stuff! I like how Johnny Fever was able to save the station and save the relationship between mother and son that was about to dissolve . I missed these eps as a kid
One of the best shows ever written for tv funny gags humor no special effects and that the way it was back in the day love all the people on the show even less and herbs wife great memories from back in the day
I wonder why YOU TUBE censors this part? Its a clip from the last episode from 1982! Unreal Corp Hacks. Thanks for the episode and download.
I wonder if they that they are talking about tax evasion.
Check out the carpet in the offices, I’d forgotten how popular the color orange was back then.
Sunset orange, Harvest gold, and Avocado green everywhere.
Ha! Yep. Just like my first apartment ... the shag rug, the appliances, all in that color combo.
Thanx for the memories, Dave!
Avocado green had been around since the late sixties/early seventies. Surprised it lasted as long as it did, considering these tones were so reminiscent of Fall.
I picked up the word reprobate from Mrs. Carlson, making WKRP sitcom edutainment. One of those uncommon descriptions that fit some people to a T.
I love how the antenna fucked up.I grew up in the country and that exact thing would happen all the time. That brought back old memories lol
Phone cops!!!!
"Madam, your physician is here!" I think that's one of my favorite lines in the whole show.
Hirsch (Ian Wolfe) stole the show tormenting Mama Carlson (Carol Bruce) the few times he was featured.
I have the complete series on DVD; always binge-worthy even though some of the music is not original.
Hirsch!!!!
@@c17nav She comes out all happy and finds "Doctor" Fever standing there. Classic!
RIP to Johnny doctor fever
Johnny: "This is so deeply warped, even I get it" What a line.
Love the stroll down memory lane. Fuzzy picture and all. Rabbit ears ruled the day.
Looks like they forgot the tin foil.
@@julien.4617 🤣
Definitely one of the best episodes of WKRP.
I love the way everyone underestimates Johnny and thinks he’s dumb but he’s really not
No one thought Johnny Fever was 'dumb'. At first glance, your impression might be, here's a 'Stoner' gone to 'seed'.
I don't think Johnny is dumb, they just think he's stoned out of his gord all of the time.
Madam, your Physician is here!…..Priceless! Love it.
Thanks, I appreciate the trip down memory lane! The picture is actually better than what I got on my antenna TV as a kid.
4:40 Hesseman, you were a true professional!
Johnny saying - Booger is missing! 😊
I hadn't seen this one before, but kudos to the Dr ❤
Awesome. Saw every bit of it regardless of the static Tks !
The last scene was dynamic, THX Dave well done and well said.
Thanks for posting such great moments. Next time include Carol Bruce singing Gershwin. I love seeing her get misty and sentimental.
I'll use this in the next request video - she's great. :)
Bailey: Everybody stand up on their feet! I say go right up to the office and .........pass out 😂😅😆🤣
Redddddd wigglers 🎶
The Cadillac of worms
the. Cadillac of worms
🎶. 🎶. 🎶
Carole Bruce really had a beautiful smile. =^..^=
I can picture the video, but then again I watched on TV. Such a great show.
That last scene, one of the last of the entire series, has always been one of my favorites. It gives the entire premise of the show so much authenticity. And being forced to give it the rabbit ears effect made me feel like I was in my dorm room 40 years ago. :)
Thanks for the upload.
Why does this show feel more modern and cutting edge than today?
@ Nature and Physics. Maybe because of character development and the fact that the show doesn’t revolve around setups for cheap punchlines.
Thanks man. That was the best I could do, glad you liked it.
@@DaveNarn ....I rather liked the ever -changing, textured picture effect meself. Quite trippy.
That really fired my geezer self up! I really do want a come back in re-runs!
Awesome characters, awesome actors, great writers.
Omg, the rabbit ears video. Took me back living on the farm.
I miss this show... it's not in syndication anymore...
Problem being the large hike in music royalties (when it came to renewing them).
Is that why ME TV drop it , I loved the reruns, it took me back when it ruled comedy television, it was and still is the best ! LOL !!!
Holy crap, a show from the 70s that still holds up.
ALL of the shows from the 70's hold up, 1billion % better than ANY show today!
I agree. There has never been a tv show with this kind of depth, writing, you name it. I really was not a comedy per se......all of the the things you see in episodes happened in real life at various radio stations. It was a true crime when it got canceled, and the network knew it.
Carol Bruce added a wonderful dimension to the show
When the clip was over-I was expecting to hear the gibberish ending music 🎶
"You don't even have to call me 'Dad.'"
I do not remeber this one, nice to see something for the first time....again!
I was seated next to Gordon Jump on a flight from LAX to St. Louis (he was headed there to film "Maytag Man" commercials). We had a mutual friend in Bill Dial, who helped create the show, and we had an interesting conversation. We talked about how we both loved Sylvia Sydney. She was wonderful in the 1930s and even more delightful in the 1980s.
Oh yeah, Bill Dail the writer who played Bucky Dornster. I've not seen much of Sylvia Sydney, but that's a good story
I loved this series and all of the actors. A lot of good humor. And imagine no filth! How can something be funny without cussing? I don't know, i guess you can't eat your pudding if you don't eat your meat! No actually this is one of very few things I would watch for 20 minutes on you tube.
Thanks,
I think the show was conceived and produced with a lot of heart and the best intentions.. besides that need to make a profit for the network.
The idea of the ‘Fever’ and ‘Flytrap’ using real music from upcoming bands was gave the show it’s credibility.. and few years ahead of MTV
Rum used to make me feel tingling 🤣
1:13. Imagine that exchange if it was a male executive and a female employee.
One of my mom's typists worked for WMA and knew Gary Sandy.
Back when TV shows were funny and something to look forward to once a week!!!
KRP was the funniest show ever. Watch some old comedies and they seem dated. KRP is still hilarious! Perfect casting. Nobody in this show could be anyone other than who they are.
Thank you. Wish you had included mother Carlson singing. It was lovely and funny. But, again, thank you.😊🌹
Hirsch was hilarious.
"A very interesting turn, don't you think ?"
"Look like you gonna work in the big house" is a laugh out-loud line.
“No ifindi, no heat!”
Damn! Maybe it's because I'm 67 years old. But I 'swear', Arthur Carlson's 'Mom' was truly as 'hot' as Jennifer was.
Why doesn't anyone steam this? I would gladly pay to see the entire turkey episode.😂
The rights to the music make it impossible to show any more.
@@a2ndopynynThat explains a lot. Thx
Simply the best tv show ever produced.
Let’s not forget that other 70’s gem Taxi! Remember Jim taking the test for his license at DMV? “ What do you do when there’s a yellow light?” That had me in tears!
14:28 I was well into adulthood before I saw this practice- in my instance, in the hotel business.
I miss these great shows
Of course, the last episode was actually a retcon of the entire series up to this point. The whole premise was to increase ratings and make money. That’s why they originally brought in the Andy Travis character and changed the format. In the end it was essentially revealed that the station kept all those ridiculous characters because they wanted the ratings to be bad and to lose money.
Interestingly, they also did something of a similar retcon to the backstory of the Venus Flytrap / Gordon Simms character during the series.
Mrs. Carlsson was a cougar .
My favorite show. 😅😅😅😅😅
Hirsch was awesome.
Jan Smithers at 9:30....wow! so beautiful.
Radio Gold!!!
Wooing 😮
A shame you didn't include Andy & Venus at the end. "I've got four things I want to say to you... number two..." (Passes out)
good one, lol
I saw enough of this snow growing up
Nice compilation!
Mama Carlson what a gilf.
Or milf
17:24 RIP fellas
Septimus and Mr Atoz!
He was good as Septimus. I liked that the Romans lived in modern times too.
Burt Reynolds never stood a chance on keeping Loni Andersen..proves you cannot win them all
Was this the last episode of the entire series?
Yes, the last episode of the original series. :(
I miss Howard Hessman
How do I find all the episodes I reall love this show. UA-cam dont have all the episodes
I’ve got the DVD box-set from Shoutfactory.
UA-cam blocks a most of the episodes with guest stars.
I tried to upload the episode of Mr. Carlson putting coke in his shoes instead of foot powder. YT blocked the whole thing because of the guest star.
I've missed the kitty.
Loni Anderson....Hi! Lol
Why is that old woman wearing Steve McGarrett's hair?
Hey user you killed me that one Steve McGarret’s hair. Don’t know if you’re a 50 fan but in 50’s first episode an actress named Nancy Malone played McGarret’s sister. She was from Queens Village NY. My mom and her were friends. She starred as Paul Burke’s girlfriend in that show. Boy was TV great in the 50’s through the early 2000’s!
12:18 Bundy Fox viewing positions
Love the gamma poster
Why did we have watch the clip through a freaking BLIZZARD?
1
2:10 Why is this part banned on UA-cam?
How about a coat hanger with tin foil?
Holy shit 4:38 how did that happen?
contact me and we can "repair" the end of this video. Good highlights.
Good heavens, Loni Anderson's stockinged foot in my lap would've broken the stitches in my Levi's Jeans! Howard was an oak.
🙈😜🤣
How come nobody else realizes Jennifer was an escort on the side?
Should’ve warned us about the last crap quarter.
He did. 12:12
