Baby, If You’ve Ever Wondered, No Laugh-Track
"Venus Rising" is an EXCEPTIONAL name.
Miss that show
Funtime!!! Thanx!
0:25 1:31 5:49 Bailey and Andy are both so hot< 4:41 Jenifer and Les... funny.
We mustn't show people consuming alcohol. That's a bad influence, a bad image. People never consumed alcohol until they saw this. Thank goodness this wasn't about cannabis. Am I even allowed to say that word in the comments?
"I beg your pardon... I mean, Say what?"
I miss Howard Hessman
5:56 So many people viewed Loni Anderson as "eye candy" and on the show just for her looks... But when the writers gave her something to do with some real dialog, "Jennifer" could really shine and deliver - as in this scene with Johnny. A simple "no" became so much more.
Thanx. I love these guys, especially Venus. Someone should put together a collection of all of Venus' Song Intro Monologues. Some are pretty spectacular: "Alright my Children, this is WKRP in C with More Music and Less Nesman. You’re listening to Venus Flytrap, First Officer of Funk. There’s Clearance from the Tower, Seat-belts fastened, Headphones on. The Stewardesses will start Dancing in the Aisle please, as we begin our assent."
Good idea
I LOVED this episode. Johnny Fever's reactions got faster the more he drank, and Venus Flytrap eventually decided he needed a hat. Absolutely classic scenes!

Did you obtain express written consent from the commissioner of Major League Baseball to commit this butchery?
Herb's suits! Where did they get those gawdy things! I don't remember seeing them on any rack in the department stores back in the day.
In ep where Johnny gets a settlement check, Herb says 'A golf pro shop in Kentucky'
Today, saying the F word every 5 seconds is considered 'funny' and moreover perfectly ok...
Loni Anderson anyone? ❤❤❤❤❤
We could be the Skins! Johnny had me laughing out loud again!
I'm still a simp for Bailey.
What man in his right mind would ever turn Bailey down if she asked them out for a Date.
all riiiiight all riiiiight all riiiiight. Mathews alter ego
By far, one of the funniest, most clever television shows in history. When I was going to college studying radio broadcasting around 1990, my production instructor said that all the characters on this show do exist in real life. Exactly as you see them. It only reinforced my desire to work in radio.
Loved the station call sign W KRP (crap!)
According to the late Yasser Arafat, when he appeared on the Merv Griffin show with Lee Liberace and Loni Anderson, he stated that WKRP in Cincinnati was the number one TV show in all of Palestine. He also compared suit jacket linings with Merv but wasn't able to see Liberace's.
Momma is also the big boss lady in BeetleJuice that warns the Maitlands to avoid the bio-exorcist.
Loin Would Be A Nice Butt Buddy !!! (0)
Johnny Fever was the best
I'm _just now_ recognizing Momma Carlson (in the pilot episode) as Sylvia Sydney, who also played the no-nonsense case worker in Beetlejuice. I watched WKRP after high school in the 80s. I saw Beetlejuice in the theater a few times, in 1988. Whoosh! Yes, I can be slow on the uptake. 😂
As my friend Tony The Tiger would say, "This is GRRRRREAT!"
Thanks! Glad it isn't Bill Lumbergh from ''Office Space', lol
The closing credits theme music is still a red hot hunk of rock n' roll, with not one intelligible word in the lyric. I mean, is there any actual words? It's like another language. Whatever he singing he seemed to mean it, and it's the coolest TV show outro tack ever in my books. Does anyone know who did it, and what the deal with the words was? Was it a parody?
I'll answer my own question: The closing theme, "WKRP In Cincinnati End Credits", was a hard rock number composed and performed by Jim Ellis, an Atlanta musician who recorded some of the incidental music for the show. According to people who attended the recording sessions, Ellis didn't yet have lyrics for the closing theme, so he sang nonsense words to give an idea of how it would sound. Wilson decided to use the words anyway, since he felt that it would be funny to use lyrics that were deliberately gibberish, as a satire on the incomprehensibility of many rock songs. Also, because CBS always had an announcer talking over the closing credits, Wilson knew that no one would actually hear the closing theme lyrics anyway.
The part about the announcer talking over the ending credits anyway is gold and fits the show's subtle irony perfectly - thanks
A lot of the scenes in this so-called tribute have nothing to do with Howard Hessman.
What a great series!
Look at the LP Johnny Fever put on, it's already spinning into the record margins!
I noticed that too. Funny that when WKRP was on the air, most radio stations had switched to using tape cartridges. I’m glad to see the records, even if they flub it sometimes.
Carol Bruce was no stranger to comedy, she starred in the Abbot and Costello movie “ Keep ‘Em Flying” in the early forties.
From Toledo but I love this show. Great stuff.
Like most of the other folks that have posted who worked in radio, this is very close to the truth. Like really close. It really was that much fun back then
Got to be one of the best
It's still as funny now as it was then! One of my favorite shows!
Queen of the forest,Ted Nugent
Babys johnny fever 😂

I understand why UA-cam blocks videos, and i agree.. so why are you trying to make money on others work? this is stealing, i still her the audio!
I don't monetize any of this, I just do it for fun and am glad people still like WKRP too.
I was seated next to Gordon Jump on a flight from LAX to St. Louis (he was headed there to film "Maytag Man" commercials). We had a mutual friend in Bill Dial, who helped create the show, and we had an interesting conversation. We talked about how we both loved Sylvia Sydney. She was wonderful in the 1930s and even more delightful in the 1980s.
Oh yeah, Bill Dail the writer who played Bucky Dornster. I've not seen much of Sylvia Sydney, but that's a good story
People laugh at comedy because of group laugh and delivery, you can go to a comedy club and a comedian can tell dry jokes and nobody will laugh. Change the delivery and people will be queued to laugh and others will join in. The funniest comedians, George Carlin, Jerry Seinfeld can bomb completely with poor delivery
Sort of like turning the sound off and just watching the video gives you a different perspective.
@@DaveNarn Yes, sound is a perceptive queue. I watch baseball alone with the sound off in the background and it's a much different experience than with a group of friends or live. The crack of the bat for a ball that will drop to an easy out 20 feet from a home run fence will get the crowd cheering, then silenced.
This was an outstanding show. Such a brilliant cast and writers. These are the kind of characters you talk about 50 years after the show is off the air. So many jokes and one liners. This was comedy at its finest. And the best theme song. I still remember all the words.
Almost forgot fellow babies, ,,,, Booggeerrr.
Good memories
*Karen Carpenter, one of the greatest drummers, EVER.* 🥁🎤 😘 🤘🏽💛🖤💛🤘🏽
Crazy that she sang with no effort while drumming.
Andy's WAAAAAAY too-tight clothing is bizarre to see in 2024. His pants are so tight that it looks painful.
Forget Ginger or Marianne… Bailey or Jennifer!
These clips aren’t honouring Johnny.
When a sitcom was actually hysterically funny!!!!
