Its sad what our people do to each other ....Artcaffe was also notorious for giving better service to its white and other foreighners of lighter shades and ignoring the locals.Such a shame but our people need to change their mentality

My friend experienced this same racism and blatant favouritism of white people which is so crazy that high class hotels in 2024 would still be doing this even in the coast. Unfortunately the Serena camp situation is still a common occurrence in Kenya tourist destinations, I've heard of similar stories mostly in the coastal areas, its unfortunate as a fellow +254 babe its disappointing to say the least! Nevertheless I'm glad you all were able to still enjoy the safari. Xo

I would say in Kenya going to Naivasha for a glamping feel by the lake was the best experience, the accommodations rivals the Serena and their staff are so lovely and accommodating without racial bias ( I'm eastern African too)... I would say in Africa avoid using big chain hotels there are more modern boutique hotels with better service

omg ! I left Kenya sooooo long ago , been to Kisumu once about 34 years ago , I was 4 my dad worked at a major textile company so he moved around .....I was only 4 but I remember Kisumu , the lake air, the rain , the stories I heard about the animals even years later . This is making me relive some of the most beautiful memories ... oh ! thank you for sharing . Traveling to Nairobi with my family in a few days , going to Mombasa as well, I am so excited to share my country with my family.
