I know someone in Sydney, who does not even bother to visit Kuala Lumpur when he comes to Malaysia, because his reply is " It's just another asian city".
Condos in Malaysia are the best in Southeast Asia, they are cheap with very luxurious facilities. If you do research, there are other cheaper ones with the same facilities
Absolutely agree & thanks for pointing this out. There are definitely other fantastic options at half this price point or less, just a bit further out from the city centre. Thanks for the comment!
Indeed
Location location….
WHERE do you search online for condos?
I do live here under MM2H and he is paying for the location. I have a 3 bedroom, 1,600 sqft flat with balcony and paying 2850 RM/ month near MidValley Megamall. Depends on where you want to be but his view his fantastic. By the way, does he mean 700 USD or 700 AUSSIE dollars? That would make a big difference.
For this price I’ll only get a small partitioned room in NYC
You again
Loved your comments. Please don't die💀

I admire your motivation to uproot from home and go seek new surroundings while still earning a living. KL is going to be a must see place for me before too long, but not has a place for location independent working. I'm about 5-ish years away from retirement and I'm patiently waiting to see what the Malaysian government will do regarding the MM2H program that is currently under review. Fingers crossed they structure something that is similar to the pre-covid MM2H program (which was very popular). With more realistic requirements, my pension will be more than enough to live comfortably in KL. Cheers. ☺
Thank you for your comment. Absolutely, I hope it works out great for you! 🙌
Lots of us soon-to-be retirees waiting with you! I'm in the same situation and would move to Malaysia in a heartbeat if they went back to the old rules.
Malaysia welcomes affluent individuals and families, not the mediocre or even the very high net worth ones. That's why the requirement is monthly offshore, onshore income of US$9,000 a month including minimum liquid assets of ~US$300,000. It's not that high really, for those who want to base out of South East Asia.
Do agree Malaysia is absolutely a good place to retire. But I wouldn't get my hopes too high that they will dial back the requirements dramatically to match what was before. They may just make small tweaks such as lowering monthly income to perhaps $7-8K from the current $9-10K. The goal of the program is not to provide retirement places for the global masses but to attract affluent individuals/families who can help Malaysian economy. Personally I think the low requirement days are over.
Doesn't seem too bad. I'm assuming retirees would just have to show that that's their investment interest + pensions/social security@@leealex24
this looks great dude.
Thanks Mason! Was a big step in my self development journey
Thx for the video. Interesting to see my neighbors 😀. I am living 10mn from your place, just across klcc ..

@@JackAlderton right! And for the price you pay, you can get a 3br with similar facilities. Try searching up unio residence
Superb condo for that price mate!

Well done video presentation. Especially like the time saver, chapters, captions you provided. Shows respect as well as good/great organization skills.
Am guessing Aria (et al.) will be going up in price after the news gets out and demand goes up.
Wondering what you think re: the MM2H rules that just came out recently requiring 1 Million Ringgits bank deposit (from foreigners looking to live/move to Malaysia) ? ($215K USD)
Appreciate your comment and kind words - thank you for the feedback! Yes, it does look that way, it's probably up on when I signed the lease so this is something to keep in mind.
As for the MM2H, I can't say I quite understand the logic. Attracting foreign capital and inflows is beneficial and I think increasing the requirements significantly makes it a much less feasible option, especially compared to other surrounding countries. Hard for me to say though, I'd trust they changed the requirements for a reason/there is at least some data/modelling to back up the logic.
I’d be paying £3.5k for an apartment in downtown London😢 Very smart of u Jack! I’m M’sian but working mostly in Europe where I can only endure their Summer as Winter’s way too miserable to put up with to be honest! I’m home in Msia for a visit now and the heat here is killing me at the same time, I don’t know what to do now 😅
I feel you! I hear London is outrageous these days. My family is from England but I've never visited, mostly because of my impression of the weather haha
I can imagine the weather is very different! Cool off in the pool and blast the aircon like me 😆
The place looks nice & you are so handsome 😊
thank you, appreciate that
(algo time) Am now in Sydney freezing my arse off in 3*C, worrying about inflation and a myriad other things; watching this came at the right time, thanks mate.
(Not sure about having the US Embassy within cooee making it more secure though 😲)

No worries mate, great country - thank you!
i live in aria, i dont like how they barely have any facilities but i love how klcc is close to the apartment.
👀 where are you from? It has great facilities & everything I need but I come from a country where these condos are completely out of reach. Yep it's a good location!
Very good choice Jack, I live in Sydney for the past 10 years, and planning to leave this place pretty soon. Expensive and over rated city.
100% - hope you find an awesome alternative, there's so many lovely places in the world to explore!
Damn I guess I’m coming to live in KL see ya next year pal 🤣🤣
haha see you mate!
That looks like a really great place!
In another UA-camr's video tour of a different complex, he showed the gym, and said it's fairly warm (ie: uncomfortable). How's the temperature in Aria's gym?
Also, I work from home, but I require hard-wired internet. Not just wifi. Is that a possibility in Aria, to have a router/modem?
Hey Gabriel! The gym is cool enough (aircon). I usually jump right in the pool after either way.
For the internet, yes you can wire it to the router but might need to run a long cable depending on where they set it up. In mine it's by the main TV, so if you worked in the study area it would be about 10 meters. Hope this helps!
wow.
pretty good right!
In the city centre u can live comfortably there
Generally it's around $600-700+ monthly
It's in the epicenter of KL unless people like to walk far then $300-400 Oyo or $500+ budget hotels are aplenty
that's it mate
Where can you find these type of listings airbnb is showing 1k+?
Great video!! Can you show us the process of how to move to Malaysia and KL?
Hi Jason, yes it's a good idea for a video. Primarily you'll want to secure an employment pass to stay semi-permantently, otherwise you'll be stuck with 3 month tourist visas with border crossings. If you have a lot of money, the process for MM2H would be much more straightforward and flexible. Hope that helps!

Hi Jack..Just discovered your channel..Wondering what the COVID restrictions are like at this moment ?
Glad to have you! Yes it’s all gone now, no restrictions or even forms to fill in before arriving 👍
Love the apartment Jack! Especially the work from home space is excellent.
I'm planning to come to KL for a few months to work from there.
Do you know if apartments in Aria Residences can be rented for short term lettings as well.. For say 3 months?
Cheers
Thank you! Great, sounds like an awesome plan.
They are not supposed to, but if you do a sneak search i suspect you might find a few available ;)
Otherwise there are plenty of options, if you have the budget I'd recommend Somerset serviced apartments, just around the corner.
Hope it goes well for you!
@@JackAlderton great tips. Thanks Jack, appreciate :)
Nice place 👍 I guess prices went up? I’m seeing the cheapest condos in Aria are about 3000 RM
Thank you. Yeah prices have gone up. This was a relatively new building that was not at capacity after 2020/21 so I got a better deal. Althought now around 3.3krm = $700!
Amazing. What a bargain. I have no problem if rental double of what you are paying now
I agree, the value is insane relative to Sydney 😖 cheers for the comment!
Hi Jack, really love you video. Can I ask, that do you need to be on a long term visa such as MM2H, or Working visa in order to have this long term lease? If we are on a holiday which only gives us 90 days visa, bet we can't have such a cheap $700 monthly rent condo, right?
Hey Raymond, yes that's most likely the case. You might be able to sign a lease, but it's strictly 12 months only.
You could try a site like speedhome, but you end up paying double the market rate or so. Airbnb would then be the best option.
Hope you're able to get what you're after!
I live in Dublin. I'm extremely jealous 😮
I would love to visit Ireland one day - I guess we must all learn to appreciate what we have, while we have it. Thanks mate!
@JackAlderton Make sure you save up, it's stupidly expensive! People tend to have fun when they visit though!
KL is one of the spots I'm considering moving to but I'm not old enough for a retirement visa either. Do you think it's feasible to sign a 1 year lease and just visit Thailand, Singapore etc every few months? I've heard of people staying in Malaysia for years just resetting the 3 month tourist visa.
Hey mate, yes I do think that should be no issue. It's easy to cross into either of those countries and it should be no issue getting in again. I think it would depend on your passport though with how lenient they may be after a goes of doing it, having said that I've never had a bad experience (so far!)
Great video! Can I ask HOW you went about finding this apartment? Like are they for sale and you are renting from a private owner or would I go to the Aria KL website and be able to rent from there?
Hi there, thank you! Yes you should definitely use iproperty or propertyguru and enquire with a reputable (registered) agent. Almost all of them are, particularly for higher end condos. Renting from a private owner, dealing with an agent. The process is smooth and you're treated very well. I personally believe KL is the best (or one of the best) rental markets in the world.
Wow, love the cosmopolitan feel! So 700 AUD or USD? And does it includes utilities?
Nice right! Cheers - this is 700 USD, utilities will be about 75 USD additional.
You can easily find condos for
It's fascinating how here you are promoting living in Malaysia as an Australian, and here I am born and raised as a Malaysian going to move to Sydney somewhere around Sept.
Have a great time mate! You'll love it. Totally depends on your situation, I was lucky to get a good job here but most Malaysians will probably have more opportunities in Aus. Moving countries in general is a fantastic idea to see different perspectives and ways of life.
@@JackAlderton I look forward to that mate! Thanks. Hope Malaysia has been treating you well so far. Dont forget to try all the local cuisines especially from your local neighbourhood mamak or some nasi lemak. Cheers!
My friend and her family booked a two week holiday in Australia but after a week they returned home as they found it so boring. But my cousin's daughter is a vet in Sydney. She returned home and worked here for a while but decided to return to Sydney. My three nephews also work in Melbourne and another cousin, who's a physiotherapist, has lived in Australia for maybe more than 20 years. I've never been as I've never been attracted at all to Australia. Also I heard it's very expensive.
Sorry but your friend and her family sound like they are the boring ones. Australia has probably the most diverse natural landmass in the world, not to mention holding multiple of the top 'liveable' cities (as much as I disagree with that term) - it literally has everything that every other country has so i'm not sure how anyone could be bored, unless they stay in their room all day. The major cities are very expensive, yes that is definitely true and a con for living there, as for other western major cities.
@@JackAlderton my other family members seem to like it there. As I said my three nephews work there after having graduated from the university of Melbourne about 4 years ago and my youngest sis stayed in Perth for about 8 years. Maybe my friend and family should have gone to the Gold Coast etc. I think they limited themselves to Sydney only.
❤🇲🇾
I like Aria but it is along Tun Razak, a major highway. In KL there are a lot of crazy and noisy motorcycles and cars especially during the middle of the day. 😡 I hate that road so I looked for condo/flats away from major highway
That's very true. It can be super convenient but also noisy and busy at peak hours. Luckily I got a very high floor so I can't hear much of the road noise at all, if any 🤞
The windows are soundproofed arent they..
How was the sound bleed from neighboring apartments?
Are there any housecleaning services offered?
On-site laundry? On-site restaurant?
Hey thanks for your questions. No sound bleed at all, but I was on a high floor. i only had one neighbour, as each block is very private. They had their door open all the time but I couldn't hear them unless I also opened my door.Only minor concern might be the pool - it's fairly open and neighbouring buildings can see.
There's no dedicated housecleaning, but it's super easy to find good cleaners in KL.
There's a laundry service in the building/condo next door & surrounded by lots of restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for sharing. Nice apt. Do you also need to pay agency fees to rent it?
Thank you! There is a small agency fee, but it's not significant (few hundred RM) - the agents do a great job here going above and beyond.
@@JackAlderton that’s great, thank you so much for replying. Do you have any recommendations on agencies, or I can ask the front desk when I am there
Wow! Only $700 a month. That's a steal
Pretty good right? Cheers!
@@JackAlderton Congratulations, you've cracked the matrix ;)

💯 crazy good value over here!
Came across your video today and loving it. Subscribed! How about transportation? How far are you from Jalan Alor? Any direct mrt? How do l apply for a short term stay of 2-3 months as l will be visiting Msia in the new year? Through Airbnb or ??? Your help would be much appreciated. I’m a Malaysian Chinese ( with Dutch blood ), born in Penang and now living in North America. Malaysia is now new to me! Lol
Hey!
I work nearby so it was easy for me to walk to office. Grab (similar with Uber) is easy to get around in KL if you are not after public transport. Jalan Alor is walkable from Bukit Bintang MRT station.
Assuming you are holding Malaysian passport, you can stay as long as you want. Otherwise you should be able to get a 3 month visa on arrival no worries.
Generally the rental lease here is minimum 1 year but you can discuss your need with a rental property agent and they should help you with it. Otherwise, Airbnb is definitely the easiest or websites like Speedrent/Trovit is good for short term rental too.
Hope that helps and you have a great trip!
@@JackAlderton Terima kaseh……..for the great info. Unfortunately l gave up my Malaysian citizenship many years ago….. a great regret! Can you recommend any condo or apartment much much nearer to Jalan Alor area. Would prefer that to taking grab or any other public transport as l will be travelling alone ( don’t like walking around or taking public transport home alone. Don’t feel confident and safe enough..yet ). Thanks again
@@msisoo I also speak Penang Hokkien.
For short-term stay, 90 days will be the:
Platinum Face Suite KLCC. Famous for its infinity pool overlooking the KL skyline
One @ Bukit Ceylon at Bukit Bintang not far from Jalan Alor. Famous for infinity pool.
Ceylonz Suites @ Bukit Ceylon not far from Jalan Alor. Famous for infinity pool.
For long-term, will be the:
Pavillion Residence KL. The best and the most expensive. Smack right in the middle of action; KLCC, Pavillion mall, Bukit Bintang, Jalan Alor, CBD
Why Jalan Alor? Besides food it is also famous for night pubs where many expats are having drinks and a good night out.

Thank you! I can see this tower from my office window - it's spectacular!
@@JackAlderton which one the blue one.. it will done this years...
How did you find your condo? when I look on Airbnb the prices are about double. Do you have to use a local agent or something or is there a website for KL? I am going to KL in next month.
Local property websites (iproperty / propertyguru) , or you can try Speedhome.
I'd recommend Airbnb or Agoda/hotel websites for short stays - it is more expensive, but still great value IMO
Hope you have an awesome time!
Could you please tell us about neighbouring noises? Are those condos well soundproof from one to another ? Can you hear for instance your neighbours living above your apartment walking ?
Hey! sure can - it's set up so there's 2 condos for each / level / lift. So there is only one condo next to me. If they have their door open and are loud, yes you can hear it.
You definitely cannot hear neighbours above and below, only next to you.
Hope that helps!
@@JackAlderton thank you so much and yes I does help ! I am Willing to buy a condo in KLCC but not sure about construction quality ! And still hesitating between buying here or Bangkok !
You cool bro

Hey Jack. Thanks for the video. Is that $700 USD or Aussie per month? Is that a long term lease? 6 months or 12 months for example? Really nice condo with a great study and nice size TV’s Jack. Thanks mate 🤝
Thanks for the comment Rob! It's 700 USD and a 12 month lease. If you go 10-15 minutes out from the city you could find something similar for 700 AUD - hope that helps
@@JackAlderton Hi Jack. Thanks for that mate. Yes, very helpful. All the best 🤝
I'm sick of Sydney too with all the obsession with beach and harbour and fitness without hand eye coordination....and there you are in the gym!....any comments on the tennis, squash and golf there?
haha for sure bro. Squash is available but probably not as popular as in Aus. Golf is everywhere, you can play well here but it more runs off a membership model
Hi nice videos! I'm in Malaysia now, can you explain your research process for housing? Is this the same price in 2024? Did you use FB marketplace or groups, bnb or agent? Did you have to pay in cash? Did they ask for reqs for foreigners?
Hi, thank you! Welcome to Malaysia.
Sure, use iproperty or propertyguru and deal with licensed agents only. You can use FB marketplace but I think it's risky/you're asking for problems.
No, all paid with a contract via bank transfer. Only requirement would be passport and possible visa information but it may depend on your nationality. And a deposit is normal for a longer term contract.
There are some differences here, as in they will ask for your race. It's not good at all, but it is what it is. I recommend just telling them what country you're from.
Hope it all goes well for you and feel free to reach out if you have any more questions!
Cool video jack. Can you offer any advise for how to get into an apartment like this? We're a Kiwi/Aussie couple with the 3 month tourist visa. We looked at renting an apartment but there were so many fees associated with that. When we come back from Bali in a months time we'll have a look at SpeedHome, for a 3 month lease, but not sure what their requirements are. How have you done it?
Thanks Michelle! Sure, so typically you sign a one year lease agreement with 2.5 months put down as a bond + as well as a signing fee if you go through an agent. There are also known issues with getting the bond back. SpeedHome would probably be the best option for you as you avoid the bond and other fees and should have no issues with a 3 month stay. By the looks of it, SpeedHome charges about 50% more than what the 1-year rental rate would be to compensate for the added flexibility. You might also be able to get a good deal on AirBnB for a stay of this length. Good luck and hope this helps!
@@JackAlderton Thanks heaps for all that info Jack. Yep, we've been doing AirBnB for the last 3 months but it can get pretty expensive. All good, we'll check out our options when we get back. Thanks again for your reply! 🙂
How do you get around? Like going to the popular mall you mentioned? Is there a nearby metro line? Or do you just take grab? Any restaurants in a short walking distance.
Thanks for the question. Super easy, the condo is right next to an MRT station and walking distance to KLCC, malls and restaurants. For anything further, it's super easy and cheap to get a grab. Personally I do not think you need a car at all.
It's an 8 minute walk to the nearest mall (I timed it)
Thanks for your answers@@JackAlderton
Are you doing a long term lease or a short term AirBnb? I'm curious how do you can nice apartments in KL. Do you use a real estate agent or a website like Property Guru? @@JackAlderton
Hi Jack how much is a place like this in Sydney cost? *I’ve visited Melbourne before never Sydney.
Hi! Honestly I don't think you will find a place that has all the same amenities within an even remotely reasonable price range. My studio (tiny) was $400 AUD a week. A high-end 1 bedroom apartment in a great area will cost $600+ a week!
Are you still living in this place ? Looks awesome- how can I message you a couple questions about moving to KL ?
Thanks Chels, I'm living right near there atm (video soon) & very familiar with the KL property market. Send me an email (in my about section) or whatsapp +61 419 461 829 & I'll try to help you out.
@@JackAlderton I think you missed a digit on your phone # ?
Hi, I am very sensitive to sound. Staying on high floors of 5* hotels, I can still hear lots of sound, for example from motorbikes, mosques and bars. Are you sure you can't hear any sound at all? I heard people say that before, saying it is dead quiet, but when I try myself, there is still a lot of sound, so others are probably better at ignoring it. Please let me know, as I have been on a long search to find a really quiet place to live.
Hi there! Personally i hear very little to the point that it doesn't bother me at all (windows soundproof), but if you are particularly sensitive it's hard for me to say. BUT I will point out that there are 2 towers in the complex, A and B. Mine is in block A which is closer to the road, and in theory, louder. Block B is quieter still but it's also a little bit more expensive. I would recommend viewing a condo and seeing what it's like - hope you find what you're after!
@@JackAlderton Thank you. Are there any mosques that you can hear?
Nope. With windows closed you won't hear them.
Do you have to pay for utilities on top of that price or is it included in the rent? If it's separate, is it complicated to get that all set up in Malaysia?
Hey mate, you do have to pay on top. Electricity and water is super simple as it stays in the name of the owner, you just pay the bill. Internet is a bit more complicated as u have to sign a 2 year contract + pay a bond that u can pass on if/when u leave. There are some month to month options now though. Overall, it's pretty straightforward to setup.
@@JackAlderton appreciate the response, I'll be heading there after Christmas!
So as a remote worker how many months do you plan to stay here??
A while longer, I've been here for 2 years so far.
Hello Jack, what did it cost you to move in?
Hey! You have to cover a 3 month deposit, other than that, not much as it all condos come fully furnished!
Hello Jack, regarding the $700 rent - what currency are we talking about here? Curious from Canada.
Hey Alfred, it's USD. Rents have gone up a bit now, but so has the USD, so should still work out to be around $700 - thx for watching!
Jack how long are you going to stay in the condo 😊
we'll see, so many great options in KL
I want to move here Jack. Who do i get in touch with i paln on moving to Malaysia next month for work. Ill be staying for around 6 months
Hey mate, have a look at iproperty or propertyguru, most of the agents are super friendly and helpful and will sort you out fast. If you want my specific contact shoot me an email or a DM on one of my socials. Let me know if I can help out with anything else - hope you have a great time!
What visa you moved on? And what about taxes and stuff here??
EP - taxes are much lower than Aus but consult a professional for your personal circumstances.
Fantastic tour - thanks for sharing your condo apartment with us! I may have missed it, but can you tell us what you pay for utilities? I'm assuming you might pay for gas, electric, water, trash, wifi, etc...separate from the $700 a month?
Thanks Linda. Good question, i was paying about 250rm/m for utilities (electricity - water is basically free) and about 100rm a month for wifi. So in total it would be about ~$76/m for utilities. Hope that helps!
all the condos near kuala lumpur have rooftop pools...

Any idea what a three bedroom unit cost per month?
Hey Trent, totally depends on location and the reputation of the building. You can find a three bedroom from 2k rm within 15 mins to KLCC, up to 4k rm for a pretty good one in KLCC.
How hard is the visa process?
Depends on your situation. For me it was a little difficult as I moved during 2021. Otherwise it's simple process if you get a job here. If you just want to visit, most countries will get 3 months at a time, which is easy to renew. Retirement they've made a lot harder, I wouldn't recommend it unless you have the resources.
are this condo available for daily rent?
Hi there, actually Airbnb/short term is not allowed here but there are a bunch of similar options that you can rent daily. Somerset is just down the road.
Does this include all bills? (Water, electricity and wifi?)
hey! no bills. Total utility cost would come to ~80 USD a month, depending how much aircon you run. I run it a lot!
@@JackAlderton Thanks Jack! I'm a young (25 yo) expat moving to Malaysia and the quality of life in KL looks amazing compared to what we get in the UK! I can't wait to live in ARIA! Do you have any suggestions for places near by to visit?! :)
USD ?
Also how much for the 1BRM ( without study ) ?
Yep USD. 1BRM would be a little cheaper, around 3k rm or 650 USD, depending on the exchange rates.
@@JackAlderton Thanks 👌🏻
May I know if $700 is in Australian dollars?
Hi there, this is USD but you can definitely find a similar condo for ~700 AUD, it'll just be a bit further out from the city centre. Thanks for watching!
