Yeah I’ve always thought 2013 was pretty forgettable (main standouts being Denmark and Ukraine obviously). I definitely don’t feel too bad that I accidentally missed the grand final 8 years ago😬
The backtracking continues (i am dedicated to my craft) Unfortunately not one of my favorite years but I like to be optimistic so I believe there aren’t any truly terrible years, just okay ones. Expect this commentary to be a bit more dry compared to the others because there’s just not a lot to say. 39. Yeah, this one’s just a mess. 38. You know how there’s always that one country I always forget competed? This is one of many honestly. 33. Yeah, nope, this one just annoys me. At least it might have some entertainment value so I’ll give it a half-pass, but I just can’t with this song. 31. I think this might’ve been my last place, it’s another entry I just can’t stand. 30. I remember being like, “Woah Cascada was in Eurovision!?” because I used to really like their stuff but then I actually listened to their entry and being kinda disappointed. Still appreciate the efforts though. 29. Is it bad that I actually like this one? Yeah it’s honestly kinda cheap but it’s also kinda fine too? Maybe with another singer it probably would’ve been better? I just can’t quite put my finger on this one. 27. Ah this one was so infamous for those costumes. Apparently none of them had any control of what the costumes were and the message probably got lost in translation which might explain them? Not quite sure what went wrong but I’m not an expert either. 26. I have a soft spot for entries that introduce a new language, even if the song may not be the best. Rest easy, Esma. 25. God, this entry is so divisive. Everyone either rips this entry to shreds or absolutely loves it. My friends like to say if something is divisive then something was done right and it holds more memorability? I think they might be right in this case. 24. Yay, someone agrees here. This song would genuinely be banging if the vocals were better. 22. One of my favorite Albanian entries, which might be weird taste but...ehh I’m rolling with it. 19. Last Estonian language entry...they went with a bang though, this is a lovely song to listen to. 18. I just cannot listen to this song without thinking she’s saying “FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU YEAH I’LL DO IT FUCK YOUUUUUU...” Even after realizing what she’s actually saying I STILL hear it. 17. I bring up America a lot in these weird commentary stuff but I swear this is usually one of the first entries people from here stumble upon. I can’t tell if that’s a good first impression or not but considering we made a whole Eurovision movie (that I have yet to see but I heard it was pretty okay) ...it probably is... 16. I normally don’t fangirl over artists but man Roberto is so precious. Just look at him go! 15. 2013 was such a weird year, there’s a lot of stuff you think did way better and then you find out it got like, 33rd place 😔 13. 2013 seemed to be the year everyone sung in their native language and then didn’t do it again. 12. Feeling quite the opposite for me, I feel this is probably one of their more forgettable entries (Again, I forgot they even competed even though they were literally hosting) 11. Ah, before San Marino started shitposting/finding their footing. It’s a shame their genuine efforts didn’t quite get them far, this is such a great entry. 10. This is so over the top but also kind of a product of its time. It’s very 2013, but I still think it should’ve qualified. 6. Once tried to mash this up with We Are Number One. Was too lazy to finish it but it sorta worked. That aside, ALCOHOL ALCOHOL ALCOHOL IS FREE! God this entry will never get old, this is s-tier shitposting. 5. Apparently the singer’s sister did some of the backgrounds for the MV and the LED stuff. Kinda cute. 2. I remember having the 2013 final on as background noise, and when this song came up I stopped what I was doing and went “huh, this really isn’t that bad” and that’s how I fell in love with this entry.
O hello there :) I don't think this year was nearly as bad as I remembered but it is a bit basic. 30. Famous artists in ESC these past few years have been kind of disappointing :( 29. I stan him ironically tbh, I think he makes the song. Maybe it could've been a decent pop rock thing with another singer but he just looks high af the whole time, it's incredible. 27. Yeah, delusional costume designers are a problem at ESC, and actual entrants hardly ever have the power to complain. 26. Same, I love hearing minority languages in particular at ESC! 25. Oh, yes, this may be one of the best remembered NQs in recent history! Pure chaos, makes me love it more. 22. It's not one of my favourites but I recently noticed I love almost every Albanian entry! So yes, they are absolutely iconic. 17. I'm honestly fascinated by how people with no familiarity with the contest discover it because it's pretty much always been a thing for me! This is rather iconic. I'd hope that people who stumble upon the contest realise that it's often ~ high quality ~ and not just wacky early on, but Cezar is a good and valid gateway drug. 16. I love when singers are absolutely endearing!! He's just a sweetheart, bless. 15. Literally! Just hearing this makes me think it should easily have placed in the top half of the final, but nah, the viewers randomly rejected it. 13. I do feel like this year was one of the last few before Eurovision started looking more shiny and professional than ever before. So maybe that has to do with this being the last year of singing in a native language for quite a few countries? Like in 2016 how almost everyone came along with a glossy radio-friendly pop song... I'm not sure if I'm making sense, but yeah. 12. I'm honestly lowkey sick of Sweden being ~ professional ~ and getting constant top 5/10 finishes so a quirky cute underdog song goes down well with me :) 11. I hope Serious Marino makes a reappearance one of these days, Miodio and this entry are my two favourites from them, and there's something so charming about talented artists from a tiny country taking to the stage! 10. The wub wub dubstep is very dated but I kind of like it, it's not fresh but still super fun. 5. HE IS SO EDGY NOW OMG. I can't get over it. I think I vibe more with his cute indie kid form. 2. It's such a good underrated song! I love when artists are just FEELING it, too bad that scares off the voters...
Here are my personal votes/rankings, i'am from the Netherlands 12 points: Denmark - Emmelie de Forest - Only teardrops 10 points: Azerbaijan - Farid Mammadov - Hold me 8 points: Norway - Margaret Berger - I feed you my love 7 points: Georgia - Nodi Tatishvili & Sophie Gelovani - Waterfall 6 points: Belgium - Roberto Bellarosa - Love kills 5 points: Germany - Cascada - Glorious 4 points: United Kingdom - Bonnie Tyler - Believe in me 3 points: Italy - Marco Mengoni - L' essenziale 2 points: Sweden - Robin Stjernberg - You 1 point : Ireland - Ryan Dolan - Only love survives
For the 2nd place thanks. I had her 8th despite the too slow tempo not enough accessibility and good live but I'm conviced she must returns with a piano ballad as I'm in love with her voice and eyes
I thought it was bad but I'm surprised by how many songs are pretty good?? Also yes very valid Valentina is a queen 👑 Also also shh stop doubting urself 😘✋❤️
I don't think 2013 was a good year but there were standouts - the winner's pretty decent, Greece is a authentic Greek song that is just high energy good time, Moldova proved they don't have to be wacky to be great, the Netherlands proved that they could be great in the 21st century, Hungary were a warm hug personified and a big reminder of why we miss them. I liked Malta too and the first outing of Marco Mengoni. I get why people like Norway but it's not my bag. Ukraine is overated and your comment on Russia is what got you the like ..... It needed saying this is the first and most egregious of the Russia's great hypocritical pablem and although it sucked for Dina I completely get why she was booed.

Amazing top, my winner was Netherlands (again...) but I also love Denmark, Norway, UK, San Marino, Ukraine and Germany
Good set of songs, Birds was really beautiful :)
2:13 As a spanish I had to vote for this song xd.
Right?? He named his shoe after your country!! How international of him.
He means the one is called "love" and the other is "pain", this would make sense xD
It's litteraly my third place.
He mixed s with p, that's why it sounds like Spain.
Thanks for the second place ! My personal winner was Iceland. So touching...

Justice for Cascada and Germany 2013! Deserved way much better, top 10 at least. The media were so nasty against Natalie and Glorious snh
Finally someone liking Zlata as much as I do

thank you so much!!
I'm afraid, apart from Madge, '13 kind of disappeared quite quickly, and Madge is hardly an evergreen.
