I’m a huge Lee Morgan fan and would love this set - but I’m in the UK, which means £275 all in… Not sure I can extend to that. I do wish that BlueNote would begin to offer these specials through their local stores. No reason why some copies shouldn’t be allocated to the EU/Europe - particularly given that we are more populous than the US. Anyway, great looking set and thanks for the opening - would love to hear how it sounds.
It looks to be a beautifully curated box set from Blue Note. Is it expensive, yes but it does appear to be full of fun and informative stuff. I haven't bought it as I no longer have an analog front end (I transitioned over to hi-rez/immersive to physical product) many years ago but as a lifelong music fan and audio collector/phile, I still enjoy all things analog and occasionally buy records for my best friend who inherited a mid-late 70's Thorenz. What fun has he been having discovering records from multiple decades and genres. I have followed you for decades, enjoy your work and respect your views/reviews. Cheers!

Hi Michael, really enjoyed this thoughtful review (even though you have neither read nor listened to the subject matter yet!). Don’t know how much this box costs but am inclined to say it is worth it in a world where you can spend £100 on a steak and chips! Imagine going round to someone’s house for the first time and seeing this Blue Note box on their living room shelf. You would just know they were a class act and an interesting person. Best wishes for 2025 from London.
@@trackingangle929 Sweet Honey Bee....one of my favorite Duke Pearson songs from the Sweet Honey Bee album, a real favorite. I have learned from the Tone Poet Society newsletter that the original master tapes for that album have disappeared. Such a shame...I was hoping for a Tone Poet re-issue.
No. I just had my hearing tested actually, and it's still pretty good. As good as when I was 20? No. But listening is a combination of ear equipment and how the brain interprets it. My hearing is also tested by every equipment and record review I write and if you read both and the comments under them you'd see that what I hear is confirmed almost 100% of the time by ears younger than mine. In fact, we have a 19 year old reviewer with spectacular hearing and the two of us almost always hear things identically. But thanks for asking.
As the train slowly downshifts into Station 72 my need for records is diminishing at about the same rate that my tinnitus is increasing 😅. After reading a mo fi phonostage review you did l looked in to purchasing the new Rhino Van Morrison His Band and Street Choir. $40 plus 8 for shipping!! For 1 record! Ok l can afford it. But l guess I'll wait. It's already $1.50 less for a once played copy on discogs😂❤😊
@@stillaliveandwell5291 please factor in inflation when considering record prices! Records in the 1967 cost $4.98. Adjusted for inflation, $4.98 in 1967 is equal to $46.43 in 2024!
Michael, vinyl is like physical books, there will always be a place for it! Especially now!😊
Your show coverage recording and editing keeps improving. Thank you for the time and effort, it shows.
Thank you. I appreciate your comment and I also continue trying to improve what I do...

Blue Note is great and I've never regretted buying any of their albums. To me they are a symbol of quality.
Anything Lee Morgan I’m all over. Thanks Michael 🙏
Love Lee
Excellent comments, totally agree.
February of '64 I was in Allentown, PA, since you asked.

Hearing degradation is a great excuse to buy better gear!

"only a few people" - well that explains their idiotic Tone Poet Subscription US only misstep
The way the stereo channels are out of sync is killing me
yes. Not sure why that happened...sorry.
Another boring video as usual. WOOF...WOOF!
another boring comment from a pathetic troll.
Your mic needs adjusting .sounds ugly
Was not overmodulating so not sure what kind of adjustment I could make.
Thx.
