      Keep it simple and get in touch with what your nymph is doing and it is quite an easy, efficient tactic to play with :)

    This easily the best fly fishing channel on UA-cam. Great video, superb casting by Amelia, and great teamwork by Spotter Dave! Graduate level tutorial here, folks. 👍👍

    Good times!! Beautiful browns and the emerald green water! Reminds me of the Owyhee River system with the cliffs and water color. Bigger river, for sure but similar. Liked how you adapted Dave with the right line Nymphing for those close fish! Loved the video! and the lessons taught! Thanks for sharing Dave and Amelia as always!! Like the blue Orvis shirt Dave!🤣😎

      They are great fish - when that river is clear. It has flowed a brutal brown most of the year as the dam outflow is PUMPING to feed the irrigation network downstream. Hopefully we get an ounce of rain this summer. It's been rough. The nymphing adaptation is something neat and easy once you get the approach in tight and see those smudges working the shelf :) And blue is my color, you know :)

    I wish I had water to fish like this loaded with big trout without taking a bus to light rail then a longish bicycle ride to a canyon know for bighorn sheep. Also, in this mysterious canyon I have to use flys so small I can’t see them. You two are water and talent blessed! Thanks for sharing this video!

      Glad to hear you enjoyed it. We blew up our lives 5 years ago so we could take a step back and live near trout water - this is and was a present & conscious decision to live our lives while we're living, to enjoy life. We worked several decades to get where we are and it was time to step into a new chapter in life and take it on in a new way :) Hopefully our share encourage people that ff isn't difficult and to get out on their water :)

    How do you set up your dry-dropper? Tippet attached to eye of dry or attached to bend of hook?

    • @jensenflyfishing
      @jensenflyfishing  8 місяців тому

      we do it off the bend of the hook generally but there are 3 or 4 prime ways to do it: bend of hook, eye of hook, dropper off the main leader, or surgeon's knot below the eye of the dry fly as a depth control slider. Hope that helps

    Why do you lack the confidence to go barbless? You are both amazing fly fishers. It’s inconsistent to your message and your brand

    • @jensenflyfishing
      @jensenflyfishing  9 місяців тому

      Why the projection to use barbless when there is literally no difference in survival of the fish? Why the projection to do something so irrelevant when there are dozens of far more important issues in trout conservation to focus on instead of one that is irrelevant to trout survival? Sounds like you need to question yourself on that.

    • @marcelinomenendezvallejo8350
      @marcelinomenendezvallejo8350 9 місяців тому

      @@jensenflyfishing You are correct there are bigger issues towards conservation. Barbed hooks show 2x mortality rate. In your skilled hands perhaps less. But you are an example to the rest of nice people here and it doesn’t take science and tests on mortality. It take common sense when every year you catch dozens of deteriorating lipless trout. Definitely we can do more for the rivers but at least you can reflect on what example you are giving. I went barbless long time ago and I feel good I don’t have to overhandle a fish to release it, I also don’t feel I loose more because of going barbless.

    • @jensenflyfishing
      @jensenflyfishing  9 місяців тому

      @@marcelinomenendezvallejo8350 barbed vs barbless is about 0.1% difference in survival - and the difference may or may not favor barbed vs barbless depending on hook size and who is handling the trout. Watch our videos for the fish handling, releases, etc... that's our focus, not whether someone, somewhere in one jurisdiction or another where barbed or barbless may be legal or not, accepted or not, that's our focus... fish handling. There is incredibly little difference in fish handling between barbed and barbless if you know what you are doing and how to treat a fish to ensure it lives. That's our focus. All the best.

      It's in Canada but applicable literally to every trout river - don't miss the point of the video 😊🍻
