You can say a lot of negative things about Russo because he was, on balance, a _terrible_ wrestling booker, but to give the devil his due, he was always looking for new stars to make and pushing younger talent, even if not always competently. One of the reasons he was more effective in WWF during the Attitude Era (when he had Vince to filter out his worst crap) was that he tried to make sure everyone had SOMETHING to do, giving the company one of the strongest midcard scenes in the history of the business.
Booker deserves all the accolades for what he was able to do in that transition from WCW to WWE. I personally loved him in WCW, (minus GI Bro 😆) but everything from WWE and on, man he really came into his own. Even TNA, he did some very memorable work. I mean come on, “black snow”?! On days that I need a laugh I genuinely throw that on and it works everytime. 😂

He was right. Without Russo, Booker wouldn’t have finally gotten to main event status or even gotten the championship. He was held down to mid card status for too long and he had all the talent and capability of a main event headliner at the time.

And Russo himself has said that making Booker T the world champion is his proudest moment of his career. For all the criticism he gets & a lot of it rightfully so, Vince Russo also did a lot of great things in wrestling, and giving Booker T the chance to be a main eventer is one of them.
