Great stuff. I wanted to put some useful keyboard shortcuts on the side bar, but I wanted it to open for every new project or every new mix. So I just replaced the introduction LessonsEN .txt inside Abelton's Lessons folder. Located at C:\ProgramData\Ableton\Live 12 Standard\Resources\Builtin Lessons\TableOfContents\DefaultToc Lessons

That's a great idea! Definitely not for newbies though as it gets to the program files. Some people are not to be trusted with things like this.

For the info text notes i would suggest to simply add a new audio/midi track .Rename it to NOTES and keep them there ,always in the 1 track or always same colour

Definitely a possibility if you don't have that many notes to make. I prefer them on the tracks the notes are for.

Why would you deliberately make it more complicated and bulky?

@@cropcircle5693 For me it is more simple like that .

hmmm the hack seems interesting but so far i don't see anything pop up, the folder names are identical with the lessons folder having the text template inside... anything suggestions?

The lessons folder needs the same name as the Live Set, not any other folders. Perhaps it's that?

Does anyone know of a utility that allows one to export or collect info on all the plugins/patches/presets (esp. 3rd party) that were used on a project. When opening older projects on a newer system (new OS, new version of ableton) , there are times when an older version of a plugin (e.g., Kontakt 4, Reaktor 5, etc...) may no longer exist or won't load on your current system so there is no way, in some cases, to even know what instrument/patch was used. I will admit I've been guilty of being pretty bad about documenting everything in either info text notes or in track/clip names, and resolve to do better - BUT it would be a really cool time saver just to export something that lists the plugs you used, patches/sample library/preset, tempo, etc... to refer to at a later date. I think Presonus Studio One and Reaper have such a feature.

And these are all great hacks by the way! Thanks Madeleine!

      Yes (10 seconds search, btw ;)): maxforlive.com/library/device/10362/plugin-lister
Thanks for the inspiration. Will make a quick video about it, because I'm sure others will appreciate this info as well.

Seems like it would be so simple for Ableton to include an "Add Lesson to set" option. I hope they do that!

Tbh, I doubt it they will ever do that, even though, as you said, it'd be simple.

@@sonicbloomtuts I have set this up as you described in Live 12 but when I select either "help view" or "built in lessons" I get the Live 12 Lessons page and can't find my own one that I added. Any idea what might be wrong?

I always have a audio group at the bottom of my project files called references and have a collection of tracks to use the base the mix and master of my songs on I use various I,Zotope and Max For Live plugins to faze cancellation out certain drums, leads background instruments ect... also look at EQs, stereo imaging and the how compressed songs are and base my songs mix and master around them and have a track which is just blank MIDI tracks and use the edit text info on all of them to leave notes for myself of ideas to finish through out my track
