The Word was and.. it pains me to say this as it makes me feel old... My generation... Loved that show... Friday student nights... Father Ted and then The Word... What a night of TV... Later on BBC2 before The Day Today... Terry Christian is great... Always enjoyed his work and LOVE Katie Puckrick.. an unashamed crush! Fantastic interview and thank you for posting!

I was fifteen when I first saw her on the word. My voice instantly became an octave deeper. Superbly talented presenter and a complete and utter smokeshow of a lady.
Just a warning for anyone thinking of watching this interview - none of the television clips played at this event are shown in this video. Which is a shame. And annoying.

I sat behind K.P. ( Katie was with a male friend) at a Russ Meyer film ( Vixen me thinks..) at the BFI in that decade.

Why cut ths clips of the TV show - IT's like reading a book with pages missing -You' ve no idea what or who their talking about half the time ?
Terry was great on the Word. Wouldn't have been the same without him. Mark was the annoying one, took it too far with some guests. His treatment of Hammer was unprofessional and mean. Great Interview, good to see Katie and Terry going strong. Why isn't The Word available to watch or own on any format. Until UA-cam, the show has had little exposure for such a classic. Would be nice if the shows were uploaded to UA-cam in decent quality too (480 up) via channel 4. Maybe one day soon.

Puckrick and Christian were two of the most irritating, patronising and talentless TV presenters ever. But what a great show it was.
