- Live at Juan Les Pins, Antibes, France, July 22, 1967. Part of Brubeck's oratorio "The Light In The Wilderness" with the "classic" quartet : Dave Brubeck, piano, Paul Desmond, alto saxophone, Joe Morello, drums and Eugene Wright, bass. The CD of the concert is available as "Dave Brubeck Quartet - Live at Juan Les Pins 1967 ".
Joe Morello unassuming attitude in his perfection is awesome. True dougmillar, we are lucky to have the opportunity to see and appreciate them, thanks to electronics.
This is a perfect example of why we should be grateful we have electronic recording. Imagine living in world without it. Such music would have ended with the musicians death and most people would have died without hearing these musicians music.
Amen!
Think of all the musicians who did die - I wonder how many of those we'd feel the same way about!
I thought I didn't like jazz, until I heard this.
No, you didn't like jazz until you saw this leader and 3 of the 4 musicians were white.
@@skineyemin4276 ??? how strange you come with this silly answer, music is emotion and doesn t matter or you purple or ..........
@@flipflipflap8293 The music itself was so obvious, that... there's no need to debate with you. Continue to think you actually now know what that was you were listening to. Please, you're embarrassing yourself; I'm embarrassed for you.
I'm not really into much jazz at all.
I'm here for the genius and brilliance of Joe Morello, who, whether soloing or providing subtle accompaniment, is always an absolute pleasure to listen to.
Joe is so amazing!
Remember when had such great music? Great jazz, great rock bands, great pianists like Horowitz, Richter, Gilels. We thought it would last forever. In a way this makes me sad for what we've lost.
We haven't lost anything. This music is still with us. Their gift to us.
This makes my world bright again.
WHAT can you say !??! - they don't make'm like that any more ,,,,
But they have left us a great musical legacy which is being passed on to new generations through new music which acknowledges the greats: ua-cam.com/video/TRFagVi0sBw/v-deo.html
ooof, the lick.
Before I heard the applause, I thought this was a rehearsal!
That's how it should be! Play n perform the same no matter where they are😊
Hey is it possible to also upload the track 'One Moment Worth Years' from this same Antibes concert?

Genius prodigy miraculous - 3 descriptors which grossly underestimate the talent of Dave brubeck in particular & the dave drubeck quartet as a whole. I understand the bloke couldn't even read music? How can this be?
Either the timing is off with this footage, or it is a different film that has been synchronized with music from the CD. Great performance nonetheless.
Soundtrack is slightly delayed
It doesnt get smoother
🎼 Bass player is still with us - *97* y/o 🎶💕 Eugene Wright
Holding it all together on the bass, great player
@@kpax45 -- I bet he has some cool stories to tell 🎼
