I’m glad they didn’t make Asami a villainous femme fatale. It’s actually a fun little twist because everybody who watches Korra is suspicious of her at first, but it turns out that she’s just a genuinely sweet, good natured person.
One of the things I love about Korra is that she never hates or says anything bad about Asami. A lot of times you see the unrequited love bad-mouthing the other love interest. But Korra is different she doesn't hate Asami. It is almost like we all know why Mako is head of heels for her, she is amazing, nothing bad to say.

It's something I've also always appreciated about Korra and Asami. However, it really isn't true for Korra at this moment in time. After this episode, what you said will be 100% true, but both in this as well as in the previous episode, Korra is clearly not a fan of Asami. She's not outright hateful or anything, but she does have preconceived notions she purposely keeps in tact by avoiding Asami. I mean, she literally says "I thought you were kind of prissy" in this episode, which was based on nothing.
@@EricBervade Yes, but there is no hate that is about the worst thing she ever said, and in episode 5 she referred to her as prissy, beautiful, elegant, hardly damning.
@EricBervade I wouldn't exactly say "based on nothing". Asami constantly saying things like "love to have you at the estate" and stuff, while SHE means it genuinely and in a kind way, can come off very entitled and braggy. And the sponsoring straight from the start, etc. Asami definitely wasn't meaning for any of that to look that way of course, but I can see how it could feel that way especially when you're feeling jealous of someone because of a romantic relationship as well.

Yes! It has its strengths and weaknesses just like ATLA did. I feel like its main struggle is having shorter seasons. So some things feel rushed but it’s so good still
@GoldenDeer_ I agree with you. And I'd say if your biggest weakness is "should've been longer", you did pretty good. Cause I can think of a lot of shows that I would NOT want to be longer 😂

Fun fact:
I read somewhere that the original plan was for Asami to join the equalists together with her father and it would kinda have been a betrayal situation.
However, the creators liked her so much and thought she was a great fit for team Avatar so they decided to make her part of it!
Honestly a very good choice, i’m glad they decided to make this change, couldn’t imagine team Avatar 2.0 without Asami!

As much as I don't like the love triangle stuff, it all eventually works out for the better at the end of the entire series. It's funny first time I watched this show several years ago now I kinda had a crush on Mako and now that I'm much older, been through a divorce I can see I was unfortunately and unconsciously drawn to emotionally immature guys lol. Cuz now when I watch the show I love Bolin more then Mako's character and think Asami is super awesome one of my fav characters. I also really like Korra's growth through out the show.

Mako isn't perfect and he's made (and will make more) mistakes, but he's not playing games with Korra, nor is he being 'toxic'.
He's a confused guy who met two girls he felt something for in a short amount of time. He then recognised this and tried to be open and up-front about it with Korra, which she interrupted by kissing him. After, they both agreed to just be friends instead and Mako continued to pursue a relationship with Asami.
The jealousy comment seemed kinda fair to me as well. Up until the events in this episode, Korra has been avoiding Asami and keeping preconceived notions in tact, instead of actually trying to get to know her and being friends. While we know Korra genuinely believed Hiroshi to be a bad guy and jealousy had nothing to do with it, from Mako's perspective it did look sketchy given that Korra really didn't have any proof.
he's toxic in his behaviours, like telling Asami to stay behind so that he can "find out" for her. it's nothing to do with the weird love circle

@@kweeniepiez ham, not the right example... He said that cause Asami's a non bender... he said that cause he cared lol. Not cause he was being toxic. I hate when guys open doors and act like we're not capable of doing stuff by ourselves, but that's not what he was doing there. There's a reason why Asami's the only one who doesn't fight against the s3 villains in the final battle. Even amazing fighters like her would do more harm than good in specific fights, and they didn't knew the risk of going down there, that's why he wanted Asami to stay upstairs. Now, if you want to complain about Mako, he's done lots of ... questionable... stuff, but that was just pure concern😅
@@_anne7956 we agree to disagree then. to me he was doing it out of concern is regardless that he doesn't allow her to make her own choice, and that he is the one in control of her choices. it's a toxic default mental behavior and even more toxic to justify it "because he cares".

Like not only in regards to Asami, but with Korra, Bolin and Wu I don't remember he ever being that type of person🤔 and I've watched this show quite a few times😅. Anyway, you're right, it doesn't really matter, I'm not gonna waste my time defending a fictional guy that kept annoying me for half the show 😅

Also what's funny is that the biggest "WTH" moment from this episode isn't Hiroshi being allied with Amon, but Asami not joining her father and literally zapping him! 🤯 Mako always was kinda hated character in the first season for his poor management of romance 😂

Hey Avatar Meesh and Avatar Dee "Happy Monday " you two. I hope you two had a wonderful weekend. I felt bad for Asami in this episode. After accepting that her father is part of the Equalist. As well that her boyfriend kiss the Avatar. She just got the worst luck.
Apart of me do feel bad for Sato. Loss and grief would make anyone feel and do things they would never do. I agree why when there's a bad bender. The person or group have to be a firebender. The whole bender vs non benders remind me of the world of X-Men where mutants vs humans. But anyway I hope you have a wonderful day. Stay safe, take care and stay amazing.

Agree that it’s a bit sad on Sato’s part especially with how he lost his wife/Asami’s mom 😢 regardless, I like the nuance of his character although he’s an equalist! Can’t wait to see what happens next.

Everyone attacks Mako, but Korra has been just as infuriating and immature. She pursued Mako even though she knew he was dating someone else and then kissed him without asking for consent. It's frustrating to hear people attack and insult Mako like he has a higher level of responsibility for this love triangle, it's actually a bit sexist, like Korra can be excused because she's a silly teen girl, while Mako is the one "playing games". They are both just inexperienced young adults making romantic missteps. Korra was sheltered and Mako has no parental support, they both don't know what they are doing when it comes to these types of relationships.
I know this is a minor thing, but I was disappointed you talked over the Cabbage guy saying his line.
