I was lucky enough to spend a few days with the new Triumph Scrambler 400X, thanks to Triumph Cape Town. We had a blast testing it in city traffic, mountain passes and weekend gravel backcountry tracks. This bike is an absolute dream to ride- the perfect mini all-rounder. Head to your local Triumph dealer, take it for a spin, and see for yourself what this little beast can do!
I own this bike. I am 6ft 3. 225lbs. This is a tall bike. I am very comfortable. 40hp is plenty. This bike absolutely rips. It gets up and goes very quick. Before I knew it im doing 70. It will hum along at 75 all day with zero issues. Top speed is probably 100mph. Which is plenty. I bought my bike used with 200 miles on it for $5000 USD out the door. Love it.
Hewzit Jim, thanks for stopping by. Hey I loved this bike, it was just fantastic on the gravel road, the stance is perfect, the feel is great, not too big or too small. Just right. Really enjoyed it. My CB500x is a tad smoother to ride, being a twin, but that said, the Triumph had some 'spirit' to it. Regards from sunny Cape Town. Mike@LR 😁
Howzit. This bike was so much fun and guess the speed 400 should be lekka too. Please let us know here when you put your edit up so we can all check it out too 😁👍. Now get cracking 🎬🛵 😂😂
Bike looks great, I definitely hope to own a Triumph at some point. This is a bit lower in price point than the CB 500X you're usually on. Wondering what kind of person would be happier with the little Triumph than the little Honda?
The Honda I would say has a much smoother feel, as it's a twin, and has a tickle better end finish, but not by much. I don't think I'd swap the 500X for the scrambler, but it's close! 😁
Howzit, thanks for checking in. By far my best friend is the Tracks4Africa app/maps. They have roads marked very clearly as gravel or tar, so you just hunt out the brown ones for gravel and go klap them. Easy as that... I also have a few routes that you might find handy on my website, just go to lekkarides.com and click the routes tab, scroll to the bottom, download routes.. job done 🙂.. but there are soooo many gravel routes to explore in and around Cape Town, spoilt for choice we are 🙂❤.. Shout if you need more info and happy exploring!!
Howzit Chris, Hope the checklist is handy, just to keep the brain cells on track when you're out in the thick of things filming 😀🎬 lekkarides.ck.page/f1611b0a18
