I remember as a kid in the 70's we took a family trip from KJFK to KSFO on a 747 first class no less. It was the first and only time I flew in one. I'll never forget the spiral stairs to the lounge and how smooth the landing was. It was like a feather. The plane was the best in it's day and It's a true workhorse of the sky still to this day. Great video thank you. I love Canarsie VOR 13L approach vids. When I lived in NJ close to Sandy Hook they would fly right over our house every 2 min for that approach at 2,000ft.

Flew on a Northwest MAC charter from St. Louis, MO to Osan AFB via Oakland & Yokota AFB; flew back on a NW 747. Took a Thai International 747 from Kimpo to Manila, Bangkok, Hong Kong, back to Kimpo. Flying into Kai Tak in 747 was quite the experience seated in the extreme right window seat. Lastly, flew back from Operation Desert Shield/Storm in an ex-Flying Tigers 747 from Saudi Arabia to Philadelphia via Frankfort, Germany.

Is this a "new" 747 (4X-ICK) at CAL? and where is your regular 4X-ICA you usually fly? 😀. This 747 is 30.1 years old, how many more years will it airworthy?

I miss seeing 747s fly in the skies everywhere 10+ years ago. Sadly its not too common these days.
