Unsung hero
Tennebe Rosso Sangue got robbed by Coney skipping ahead literally the second before the beat dropped
thats like half of the songs in here that got that treatment
I don't think he would have thought of it differently anyway. Keygen Church's style is so unique that I'm always surprised when any one person turns out to like it
@charKT-7461funny thing is most people like it anyway, even people who've spent years in the opera industry
@@pathiguess strange. maybe I just so happened to only run into people who’d glance at you weirdly when listening to it
@charKT-7461 holy shit Keygen??? deltarune reference???
Check it out I'm in the house like carpet
That's not even a videogame song lmao
@@wumbojetis it not persona 3 oh no am I foolish
@wumbojet just some random comment getting up votes for no reason.
A lot of comments for Coney are like this, they don't usually relate to his content but they get pushed up for some reason.

10:44 "how the fuck are you gonna beat that, plok?" Only to be absolutely flabbergasted by the akrillic song gotta be the funniest part of this video
“We are here to learn new music” plays persona5 soundtrack
the "WHAT THE FUCK" was basically my reaction too
Tim Follin is a musical genius. Same guy who did Solstice and Pictionary
@@Knarrenheinz1021And Geoff Follin too, And Mike in some few instances.
Rest in peace Geoff.
@@UFereSanyo I really can’t believe the Follin Brothers never got to one of the really higher up gaming companies
the ultrakill rage bait immediately worked out perfectly. i’m mad. really mad. is this what you wanted
I can't believe nobody submitted order 😭
idk if it was the best song from ultrakill ngl
It's what they get for not submitting Death Odyssey
cybergrind is the for sure the pick from ultrakill
altars of apostasy is probably the safest choice for ultrakill since its the most popular one hakitas made, for this tho i feel like coneyd fuck w danse macarbe cus of the synths used in the “chorus” (forgot what its actually called)
I'm a little bit devastated I never found out this stream was happening until it was already over; I probably would've submitted either "Blue Blizzard Remix" from Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe or "VS. Star Dream" from Kirby: Planet Robobot, not even to win specifically but just to see reactions to two of my favorite songs to ever exist
As funny as it is seeing the Barbie Sweep, the Barbie song wasn't actually specifically made for the Barbie game, and as far as I can tell chat didn't tell Coney this (Which is understandable tbh I doubt they even knew at all)
If you're looking for the house origins of the Barbie song, that came from one of De Wolfe Music's many library songs, simply titled "Lay It Down" (There are two versions, "Lay It Down 1" has vocals while "Lay It Down 2" is just the instrumental, and is the version that's used in Barbie)
If you want the TRUE origin, Lay It Down, the house song, is derived from a song called "Lay It Down On Me" by Gerald Mallory (It's legit a pretty good song too! There's a sick instrumental section around 3 minutes into it that I enjoy)
Would love to see another round of this tournament, maybe potentially with some extra experimental conditions like "Must be at least this obscure" (and I'm totally not just saying that so that I can submit more of my favorite HAL Labs music)
VS. STAR DREAM MENTIONEDDDD that song is peak
any day planet robobot is mentioned is a good one
Robobot was the first thing that came to my mind too
Pretty interesting information on Barbie. It's a lot like Spongebob in that regard, where a lot of its tracks were made prior to the show.
As for Kirby, the whole series is a treasure trove of great tracks. I don't really think the series is that obscure though, especially something like Gormet Race. That song was mixed and remixed too many times to count. If I were in the chat when this was made, I would have gone with Necrotaur Battle. I'm not exactly sure how obscure Quest For Glory 4 is, but you can probably pick any track from that game and get it to at least the second half of the tournament.
Oh you
tim follin escaping the first round with plok of all things is crazy to me
We need a Tim Follin dub. Next time this happens, somebody needs to submit a Time Trax song to appeal to Coney's Genesis bias.
Coney: Any video game music is allowed
Also Coney: If it has lyrics it automatically loses
Coney once more: Picks multiple songs with lyrics in the first round
He did it to roar of the jungle dragon bro wtf. That song is so good
Inconsistency? On MY Coney channel? Never.
MY STREAMER
the moment he said something along the lines of "I appreciate anyone who puts in lesser known songs and not anything obvious or safe", I knew his ass was gonna be instantly bias in an upcoming round.
then he saw asgore's theme and said it'd win before even listening to either song. wouldn't like to have it any other way.
@@jackkane9679roar of the jungle dragon is actually peak
29:10 someone said Atlus is dead in chat because persona lost but didn’t know Etrian Odyssey is also an Atlus game lol
I knew it looked familiar, it literally looks like Persona Q.
yeah because most Atlus fans only played Persona and MAYBE SMT.
They aren't ready for Radiant Historia
The Rain Formerly Known As Purple actually stunned me irl when i first heard it in game, absolutely generational song
That first "Merry Christmas, chat." took me the fuck out dude
I want the non stream viewers to know: this stream actually started with Coney reacting to the new donkey kong land at Universal, but he got really annoyed at chatters having unfunny Bald/Old/short jokes, he spent 30 minutes trying to explain to chat why grown men playing the kids bongo game so Rambi could appear was funny, and he eventually got out a NES Zapper and started shooting at chat, banning those who got shot after telling a bad joke. 10/10 stream experience!
it took him an hour to get through that video it was insane
That’s my streamer
The zapper bit sounds good.
bro im fucking crying at the NES Zapper bit, i need this vod
I almost am tempted to quit my job to watch Coney streams because that sounds amazing
9:20 "one thing about me: I love" that's good to know Coney, love is love my guy
He does... he really do....
Wow, copyright struck.
he's jamming to nothing is absudrly funny
ITS ALL REAL MUSIC. I hate when people say shit like "this one is like real music." It's MUSIC. AAAAAAHHHHHHH
Same tbh, it's not like video game music is its own subgenre and even Mr funny streamer said so by saying what song reminded him of what type of music
I get this but bro was joking
Wrong. Soundtrack music is distinctly different and usually used as some sort of ambiance or mood setter. "Real music" is usually just music that would stand on its own regardless of context
@@scouthatesrainbowsby that logic, movie soundtracks and songs from musical plays are not “real music.” For example “Sunflower” by post Malone is not a real song
@KingOfFools784 True!
"This is the best song" - literally a chill song.
listens to a chill song" Cmon turn it up, when's it starting?"
Coney truly is an enigma.
chill song he knows vs chill song he didnt
As someone whos favorite video game song is "Partners ~ The Game is Afoot!", I am very glad it made it to top 8, only losing to the song that would win it all. And the crazy part is, I know Coney said that the Bastion song got 10x better with context, but crazily enough, so does "Partners ~ The Game is Afoot!". But the fact it got so far without that context just shows that it's still a banger.
Agreed. The final Dance of Deduction with this banger is one of my favorite moments in any videogame.
I’m the one who submitted and it was so nice to see the theme get so much love, and I can’t be mad for it losing to a banger of a track
Honest to God wasn't coney playing a remix of Partners the Game is Afoot? Like, that's not the original right? I hear it all the time and I'm pretty sure it's a remix/cover
Edit: oh it's an arrangement. Absurdly good might I add tho I do still prefer the original
(Also yes that songs contexts makes it so much better but it's hard to explain to coney that since it's a major spoiler)
@@adv78 From what I can see, it's an official arrangement of the song in the "'From the Vaults' instrumental soundtrack in The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles", according to the Ace Attorney wiki. So not the original one that played in the game, but still official.
Also, I'm going to be honest, I didn't realize it was an arrangement at first. Both versions of the song are absolute bangers.
@@loomic Thank you for submitting this absolute banger and sharing it with the world.
My favorite part of these music tournaments is that there’s always one song that builds its own narrative. First The Giggler, then Mickey and his Trickery, and now A Very Tetris Christmas.
Biggest flaw in the seeding was no ARMS theme to instantly halve Coney’s viewers as soon as the OHs hit
This would have been fucking HILARIOUS
9:23 Ah hell nah, copyright got his ass. 😭
noooo
He tried dodging it so hard too by skipping tracks like Messij
If there wasn't any rule for stickerbrush symphony to be here, it is insane that it didn't show up at all

The Barbie song was in my playlist and I submitted it since it’s one of my favorite niche tracks but I was pleasantly surprised to see it go as far as it did
Based I should have given a song but I didn't know this was happening.
Fyi if you're not aware, but that song actually has lyrics! Its sampled from a dope track called "Lay It Down" by Fresno
@@arandomperson12345addendum: it's hard to know whether or not this info is true because search results bring up a different rock band called Fresno that probably(?) didn't make Lay it Down, thus making it difficult to actually look into the supposed Fresno behind Lay it Down

Coney eliminating the CDI Tetris song had me in a laughing fit. The way the song got to its most soft and gentle part right when Coney was about to kick it out of the running as if it knew its time was up but wanted to end on a hopeful note left me wheezing. 10/10 video.
11:14 I submitted the Daytona song, and I was popping the fuck OFF after I saw Last Surprise. Thought I had the free W for that round at least, and then he went ahead and picked Last Surprise.
I guess you can say... you never saw it coming
How do submissions for these things usually go? Like, how do people participate?
I was the one who submitted Last Surprise, and I’m sorry to say this but I tuned into the stream right as Coney was about to post the submission link, so I panicked and picked the first song I could think of 😅.
Guilty as charged for being basic I guess lol.
@@SullySaltlicker Whims of fate is the best persona 5 song IMO.

The amount of times Coney has given a niche, contrarian take that I thought nobody but me had is crazy. I remember popping the fuck off when Coney mentioned SSX3 as one of the best PS2 games ever, and now I'm popping the fuck off at him mentioned that You're Not Here is better than Theme of Laura.
The Coney outro with the CDI Tetris music is unironically a banger combo
Not even 5 minutes in and theres Ultrakill slander. Love you Coney
Idk how he skipped to the “worst” part of the song immediately (amazing in context to the rest of the song either setup)
It’s tragic and hilarious at the same time how he was a frame before the drop, but skipped ahead
I forgive him because Risk of Rain 2 got as far as it did
Should of requested Alters of apostasy
Bro like he barely listened to it man. Literally skipped all of the good parts.
I legitimately understand skipping through the songs since there are so many to go through but Tenebre Rosso Sangue actually got robbed, there's a lot of variety throughout the song and how it manages to transition from each part of the song is a big part of what makes it so good. Anyways I'm going to actually watch the rest of the video now lmao.
Skipping the drop into the guitar section like that hurt my soul.
"It's like bad doom" I understand why, but I can't take the rest of the video seriously if we're doing that
And calamity mod lost because "no lyrics allowed", this video is poorly disguised rage bait
Edit: I just saw fucking iron lotus from LoR, and I know damn well it lost too because of lyrics, this video was specifically engineered to make me mad
@ОлегНиколин-т5ж Metal Gear Rising Revengance meanwhile:
@@petrenocka at least guilty gear wasn't on this list, I could not handle ride the fire or drift losing on top of everything else that happened
8:50 I love how Coney goes into dad mode. “That is not appropriate attire young lady!”
As they were going through the initial list I was worried there wouldn't be a Risk of Rain song, but not only did The Rain Formerly Known As Purple manage to sneak its way into the end it also fucking WON Chris Christodoulou my goat you never disappoint
...and his music was electric.
lowkey suprised no ...con lentitud poderosa but coney would probably call it too slow and make it lose immediately lmao
Man, con lentil ponderosa just has one of the best build ups of all. Your first time on the moon, unsure of what is ahead, a calm, eerily peaceful world ahead as the synth slowly sets the leimotif, to the moment where you're running and gunning to the jumpad for your final stand, gorgeous music, and so damn fitting.
“Hobbit futurecore” isn’t a genre I needed more of til now 8:05
Mans had an EPIPHANY at 15:05 omg
Coney: context matters for these songs (he’s right btw)
Also Coney: makes decisions without knowing the context of songs (he’s also right btw)
It IS important in both, and for the integrity of the competition, you normally exclude the context, but for a tiebreaker, you kinda need an outside factor like "Does it fit" or "What's its weight on the moment it's presented in"
Hearing Coney saying "scrimblo" was like a punch to the stomach

"Why this shit a hobbit village, but in the future?" Is a video game I would play the SHIT out of
Google bionicle mata nui online game
I knew you were right about the Tetris theme being good for an outro, but I didn't think it would go with the Toad animation so well
Kaleidoscopic Core being the only Xenoblade song here is a crime but at least chat submitted a really good one
There were others submitted, but Coney's "NO ANIME" rule superceded quality
True, tantal, guar plains, mor ardain or valak mountain (night) should have been included at the very least
Yeah chat submitted tons of anime RPG songs, unfortunately they are all mid and forgettable unless you have advanced weeb disease
I'm super surprised none of the comeback songs like counterattack were in this.
I think the xenoblade 1 title theme was submitted and lost round 1, and mechanical rhythm won round 1 against a shitpost and lost to coneys outro theme in round 2 without him ever actually playing the song
God bless Chris Christodolou and I’m so glad he didn’t get snubbed by Coney
Coney's chat is the last group I'd expect to clutch up for this kind of video but here I am wondering when we're running this again
I've now got to try and find an unknown track that can top my submission from this video 😂
Chat really came through this stream with these songs.
So sad that Violent Storm didn't get past round 2, that song was unbelievably good.
Hell, there was so many AMAZING songs in this that this was super hard to vote for.
Plus random seeding every round made it painful to see certain match ups.
100%, Violent Storm coulda won but the random seeding and going against Etrian Odyssey was tough af.
@@jont-fu3fb highway robbery by the site
Seeding was so fucked up for this
Frankly, Violent Storm should have won just cause of how obscure it is

I feel like I can never pin what coney is gonna say about a game. Coney saying “we like undertale in this house” is thoroughly surprising to me. I’m glad he likes it tho, it good game

He played undertale on release day before anyone knew it would be a worldwide phenomenon. He's an og undertale appreciator

Crazy to learn that the music Reverend uses during his transitions comes from a Barbie game
Okay so I'm not the only Coney chatter shocked by that, lmfao
Incredible pull from a wild source
Reverend's got great taste in obscure video game music
so Coney isn't a metalhead/dubstep guy, understood
But he IS a grungehead/techno guy
Important distinction

Coney, I was born in 2004, and when I heard Frog's Theme just a few years ago for the first time I just stared at my screen in an amazed stupor. I salute every single time it plays.
Genuinely surprised Coney defended Etrian Odyssey until the very end. Such a niche yet lovable series, I know the games themselves look weird but they're fun to just get lost in the labyrinth and map it out yourself. And the music is just incredible all through the series.
6:19 The thought of Coney listening to a Mili song terrifies me. These two things were never meant to mix in my mind.
but i want it so bad
Yeah but apparently if it has lyrics its bad according to mr streamer
9:22 Beat dropped so hard the video got muted.
I need a playlist of these submissions because so many of these I've never heard but HOLY SHIT there were some fire submissions. Well done twitch chat!
i put one up. i hope you enjoy chat's mixed taste in music
10:15 We NEED a full Gitaroo Man playthrough, Coney. Legendary Man Theme Acoustic is so freaking good alone, and I love the game the more I see of it.
that tetris song is the second entry in a surprising new genre of "video game songs that sound like christmas music", the first of which, of course, is lost painting from castlevania: symphony of the night
Fire Emblem 6 Beneath a New Light took me out of the game for sounding so christmassy. It has GBA jingle bells going on throughout most of the song.
The Etrian Odyssey 3 song, which got 2nd place, was composed by Yuzo Koshiro, who did Sega Genesis OST's such as the Streets of Rage and Revenge of Shinobi OST's, which is why it sounds so good.
I dont like how he's so impatient with the songs
you gotta remember that most of the time he spent listening was cut from the video
@mlshiza5335 it's not from the editing you can see him skipping parts of the songs
please make a sequel to this i loved this so much. so many good songs ive never heard of, plus i got excited to see the ones i did know. hoping spot by geoff follin makes it to the next one
the swap to undertale in the thumbnail is crazy content-maxxing
No its Stickerbrush Symphony obviously
No Kirby? Fatal Blooms in Moonlight would have crushed
Yeah I love how extravagantly hard-to-play the piano in that song becomes during the second half
This video made me feel like Coney was like a music teacher or something, and he was grading the songs his students (chat) had created.
Very funny that Coney's strong discrimination to any anime/otaku aesthetic made him pick a literal nazi over anime boobs at 9:00
I mean E-Soldat's theme IS pretty good but it does seem like he only chose it because he didn't like the anime tiddies. Even then, AKB has better tracks.
Anime boobs on a *cop*, so same thing really /s
I would've too. That shit is depraved.
3:00 EVERY EVERY 🗣🗣🔥
Video game song rankings except only listen to the song for 20 seconds is my most hared genre of video on UA-cam.
This is the second one I have ever watched.
yeah, i never really understood the appeal of watching someone listen to songs for 5 seconds and then ranking them like it honestly isn't an enjoyable watching experience at all to me, but that's just my opinion .
Genuinely almost started crying when he was listening to tetris before he took it off the list, how could he do this
I gotta say, I'm surprised nobody submitted anything like Assassin's Creed 2, MW2 or Halo music...
Bro they might be mainstream but they got fucking incredible music.
AC2 is nice, but it never really felt like it was a real "jam" to its music. Halo genuinely has some masterpieces, maybe is kind stuffy at times, but it does genuinely get pretty funky with like the Halo 2 Odyssey movements
@slothfulcobra AC2 has Venice rooftops, which also has a SCV Remix and I think both are kind of goated
The entire Tetris CDi soundtrack is honestly amazing. Immaculate vibes.
Roar of the Jungle Dragon being written off so easily is definitely one of the craziest takes I've ever heard
Shoutout to they guy who submitted Last Surprise like go girl give us nothing
9:23 Muted for copyright detected.
"Let's be inspired we're here to learn new music" into Last Surprise had me guffawing props to the editor on that one.
That Toy Story song uses the sample flute sample as Akuma and Ibuki's third strike themes😭
15:59 BRO I was unironically thinking as I watched this "man if I could have participated I would have done Track 7 from sheep raider" and then it just showed up I'm so happy that song is such a banger
I get it's not his era of game music, but Deep Stone Lullaby getting one single note of screen time in round one and losing to generic 90s game-boy music is actually criminal. I don't even like Destiny 2 anymore, but that remains one of my favorite songs in all of gaming. I almost cried when I heard it for the first time, alongside the monologue that it plays behind. It is truly a beautiful work of composition, and I will glaze it till the end of my days.
"Not liking this, takes to long to build."
Oh man, that's how you know Coney's opinions are gonna be ASS ass in this video.
9:22 One thing about Coney, he lo-

This is the musical equivalent of a thousand people getting distracted by jingling keys.
Cannot BELIEVE that Tenebre Rosso Sangue got washed in round one. Coney chatters don't know art when they see it.
honestly just tragic skip timing, that part is gold in context, both the transition into it and out of it is great
2:03 Hydrogen Bomb vs Coughing Baby
Hydrogen Bomb vs Coughing Hydrogen Bomb
Not even close.
The coughing baby is pretty strong still
@Inabathtubuv yeah, Super Peach had some bangers, but Chrono Trigger has one of the best OSTs of all time.
I can't stop coming back to this video, the submissions were just amazing, varied, and personal
Seriously can't wait for round 2
immediately mad roar of the jungle dragon was done dirty like that. that song is so good
I don't know how much it reveals about me that I WAS born after 2000, I only have about 3 hours in Chrono Trigger, and yet Frog's theme is intensely nostalgic for me because there's a fan musical that I followed for several years made by people who blew up by making lyrical covers of undertale songs
Glad to see Etrian Odyssey getting its due respect this bracket. Fun fact, the person who composed for these games (Yuzo Koshiro) was also behind the Streets of Rage OSTs. I can't recommend his work enough, the man's a genius.
Hearing Coney’s little speech about frog/glenn’s theme gave me a even more better view of frog when replaying chrono trigger, im also happy someone submitted chrono trigger and cross.
Whoever submitted The Black Wolf Stalks Again from FFXIV is a real one
Violent Storm also impressed me as well, surprised it didn't advance further, compared to were it ended up
7:52 Coney says "in the future" with the exact same cadence Soulja Boy does when talking about braid
did barbie beauty boutique get copyrighted???
Most likely
Turns out it isn't an original piece of music, it's an instrumental version of a song. I forget the band and song, but if you can find the Upload of that song from the game, one of the top comments has both
Whoever submitted Xenoblade music threw HARD when choosing Kaleidoscopic Core, not even close to the best song in 3.
While it ain’t the best song most of the best ones have lyrics which would have gotten them killed anyways. Also it is still a good song. I do wonder what Xenoblade 3 song would be able to go the farthest?
@@Doomdestroyer25I think (given coney’s taste) either colony 9, still move forward, or ultimate enemy. But really it’s all luck because mechanical rhythm got submitted, won round 1 on a by, then lost in round two to one of coney’s favorites without him ever actually listening to the song
@ Mechanical Rhythm got robbed?!? That sucks. That’s the one problem I have with the site he uses that something can just get sniped early on. He did mention liking flutes so I’m sure there’s something there. I think Sylvalum’s theme from X could make it pretty far assuming it doesn’t get sniped
@@Doomdestroyer25 not even robbed, just misrepresented. It lost to his outro song, so even if he actually listened to it it wasn’t gonna win. Hard agree that randomizing after round 1 sucks though, round 2 had so many bangers against bangers and shitters against shitters
It's definitely the best song in 3 if you don't know the context for the other songs
5:05 The Hungrybox popoff to the Violent Storm song LMAO
Coney you can farm off this content. Please do more of this
If there's any two songs that come to mind as some of the best songs in gaming, it's 1. "Don't speak her name" from FE: Awakening, which I personally believe to be the best song that I've ever heard from a game. It's genuinely amazing and it fits the setting perfectly in every way imaginable,
And the other one that likely wouldn't get as much recognition is "Those who deny the Dawn" from Octopath Traveler 2. It's easily the best final boss music I've heard from any game before and it slaps so hard.
I heavily reccomend listening to both of them, and I also reccomend looking up "Those who deny the dawn" on spotify or something else other than youtube because the first video to show up has massive spoilers for the final boss of the game.
25:45 why does christmas music have a bitter sweet feeling so strong it feels like the year has died in your arms.
I always love these because I find a bunch of new music to listen to, please keep 'em coming Coney.
I was the one who submitted the very first song, from NieR: Automata. It was *very* funny listening through all of round 1 with Coney saying, "if it has lyrics, its out" and talking about how so many songs took too long to start knowing my ass was NOT making it past round 2
And then he didn't even listen to it a second time and just passed on DuckTales lmao
