Probably one of the better Dracula films in recent times. Each of the characters were complex and Dracula in this movie is a dark force of nature instead of a romantic figure
@@tessfabled4115 Pretty much was in the novel, but cause media likes to lean into that more and more its nice to have a non romanticized one too from time to time
Can we all agree that the scene when dracula is holding clemens from the neck and clemens says “i am not afraid of you” and dracula responds with “you will be” was probably one of the best scenes in the movie especially since you barely hear dracula talk at all so whenever he does its super creepy and gives you goosebumps, regardless this movie was honestly really good and i hope people dont sleep on it.
Best moment in the movie forsure and I was sooooo hoping they would go a little more and make it even more brutal with less CGI but overall it’s the best we have gotten in years. Still think Hugh Jackmans van helsing is GOAT
I actually thought that line was a little too cheesy. It came across like an attempt at a marvel style one-liner, but felt so generic that you could place it in almost any movie and it would work just as well.
@scrooge1913 Considering the fact it was his first line he delivered that wasn't mimicking someone else. I found it fitting. He's been f'ing with everyone up until this point. Clemens has been the only one that hasnt truly feared him,so why not cut to the chase? Cuz clearly playing with him wouldn't be fun. That was my take anyways.
I am in the minority when I enjoyed that last scene where Dracula hits the floor with his cane in a familiar pattern, letting our main character know.... "You live because I deem it so" That's mastery, yes fishing for sequel but it was done with taste.
Yeah that’s the exact same feeling I got. The doctor was talking about hunting Dracula down and then all of a sudden you hear the cain. To me, that implied that Dracula had actually been “hunting” him this whole time. And I put it in quotes bc he wasn’t hunting with the intent to kill. More like stalking to learn as much as possible and now he’s ready to play.
I hope you know that technically this is a prequel? "The Last Voyage of the Demeter" was a chapter in Bram Stoker's "Dracula" book. The movie that came out in the 90s is the same book. So it probably won't be a "sequel." The story was already told with Gary Oldman, Anthony Hopkins, Winona Ryder, and Keanu Reeves in that movie.
@@wadewilson8011though, on that point, there have been many Dracula movies, and I wouldn’t put it past them to make another. Though this particular film probably won’t have a sequel.
Me personally I really liked this movie. I liked the setting, the kills, and especially dracula I love seeing him as a full on monster not just a man that can change into a monster form but a monster that is inhuman looking. While I can agree this movie has some problems I enjoyed it and while I don't think it needs a sequel I would be interested to see what would happen in a sequel to this.
I agree that no sequel is needed. There's Dracula after all. As to what happened to the doctor, having followed Dracula outside at night, I think he died even before the ending credits finished rolling. 🙃
@@ccatarinajm7114 yeah I think that was just meant to be dramatic but it was dumb. Though I do like how as he sits down dracula knocks on the floor with his cane the same way they would knock on the ship.
YES!! Guillermo Del Toro and Stephen King gave this movie positive reviews, saying that it's both dark, violent, brutal, yet stunning and beautiful. It's the kind of horror film that everyone should see.
stephen king is an alt left weirdo and has given some horribly awful movies outstanding reviews simply because another alt left actor had a role in them. take his word with a grain of salt. hes the type of person who gets mad when someone calls a pxdophile, a pxdophile and not a "minor attracted person"
Shoutout to the romanian who saw the warning sign and gtfo out there, I know it's against the lore as Dracula I recall had gypsy servants but given their attitude in this one, where they (the gypsies) wanted to be gone before sundown I picture they somehow instead of trying to kill Dracula, just caught him during his daylight rest, and put him on any ship going to a nation across the ocean to be rid of him.
I actually like this. It explains what happened between the voyage of Dracula's coffin on the voyage. If I remember correctly, the ship was found abandoned, with all the occupancy gone, and if they were turned into vampires and burned up in the Sun, that would explain a lot.
I genuinely don’t understand the reason people disliked this movie. Yes, it shifts the narrative, but it’s still the last voyage. Also, can we talk about how the soundtrack cinched the feeling of dread? Bear McCreary keeps making amazing tracks, and he certainly didn’t fail in this.
Part of me thinks the reason many disliked the film was either thry weren't familiar with the book as questions like, why not get rid of the boxes once they discovered he was in them, forgetting that never happened in the source material. Or possibly because it's not a faithful Dracula story it could have upset purist fans of the character. Myself I enjoyed as a solid monster movie for sure, but did see a flaw in that this Dracula is a monster vs say the book Dracula is not only an evil monster but a very cunning tactician bringing so many boxes to scatter over London so he could freely hunt prey without fear if discovery or getting caught in sunlight. This Dracula didn't seem capable of that type of thought to me that is.
I actually loved this movie, but knowing I've not read the novel probably makes it easier for me to enjoy it. At its best: it shows just how much of a powerful demon Dracula really. His few lines work, especially "you will be" in response to Clemens defiantly saying he refused to fear the vampire (if I recall it right). It also dips well into how a crew could work. At its worst: I now know for certain it deviates a bit too hard and the pacing could have used work. I would give it high marks in the end. It's good.
Don’t know why this movie got bad reviews. I went last night and the theater was completely empty, I was the only one watching the movie and absolutely loved it!!! We finally get a Dracula movie where Dracula is actually a savage monster and not some weirdo that’s trying to find love. Hopefully we get a part 2, I’d love to see Clemens next journey in London.
What you mean? Dracula untold and Van helsing was nothing about love if your gonna use them as an example. Dracula untold is protecting the ones you love. It's never about finding love. Van helsing we focus well... on Van helsing duh, he isn't a vampire.

I've been a dracula fan for years and i LOVED how they did this movie. They easily could have gone with a suave good looking dracula and didnt. My husband and I got a good laugh that he "bought a juice box" for the voyage. The parts where those who had been bitten burned were a wonderful edition. I'm likely going to buy this when it comes out.
My mom and I are big Dracula fans, and fans of stories about seafaring, so we loved the movie. It’s a really solid flick that benefits from being different from most contemporary vampire stories.
This movie frustrated me so much, they found his box after searching to see where he sleeps and didn't throw it off the boat immediately upon finding it, and they didn't explain what could be in the other boxes 38 boxes aside from dirt. Like am I missing something?
I do agree there was a plot hole there. As far as not throwing everything overboard that doesn't occur in the box which is still the source material. But I would assume by that point in the story there may not have been enough time to get everything off the boat before nightfall or not enough people. Or there still might have been the thought in their heads if we get rid of the cargo there goes our bonus not realizing your bonus is paid by the cery monster they hunt. Given the ending of the film they did seem to be setting this up for future films with the lead tracking Dracula down in England, but unless physical media and stream sales explode there is no chance that happens.
I really liked the movie, but didn't understand why they didn't sit on this film a few months and release it around Halloween, surely a horror/thriller Dracula film would do better around Halloween and not on the tail end of summer.
This year has had a few of those types of decisions this film and The Pope's Exorcist are two films that would have been great for the month of October but with the latest Exorcist and Saw films coming out around that time as well it's possible the studios said rather compete for horror fans let's pick a different time of the year.
My only problem is the ending. It's obvious Dracula is luring him into a trap, but Clemens goes anyway by himself at night. If I were him, I'd only leave if a group was leaving at the same time and I would stay out in the open.
That's the idea though. Clemens is now HUNTING Dracula. It's a cat-and-mouse game between the two and do you really think that Clemens would be ill-prepared? Trap or not, Clemens already knows what he's dealing with.
I haven't seen it yet, but I think I will soon enough. I love Dracula and the idea of him being a monster rather than a tragic character just seems spot on. Thanks for covering this and giving it your thoughts.
I saw this movie now for myself and was pleasantly surprised. It's a very fun monster horror flick. It could have relied a little bit less on jumpscares, but it's at least very well shot, composed and atmospheric. A really fresh take on Dracula that took the Captains Log from the novel and made its own isolated story out of it. For me it's a solid 7/10 movie. Not the once in a lifetime Dracula movie (like Nosferatu, Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee or the Coppola version) but easily in the upper tier of Dracula adaptations.
This movie was legit. Too often we are obsessed with the “source material” That we don’t appreciate the movie for what it is. I am excited for a sequel.
I very much agree with your point and enjoyed the film myself. However I don't see a sequel in the future because what I heard the film's international distributor was bought out by someone and the film only had a U.S. release as several people I know in England stilll have not seen it and really want to. So with only domestic sales I don't see the film making enough money to get a sequel. The only chance would be if streaming and physical media sales go through the roof and the studio does turn a profit. Which is disappointing because I would have enjoyed to see to where a sequel would have gone either in an original direction or in a Sherlock Holmes meets Dracula where characters of the book are replaced or changed to be Holmes and Watson.
Phenomenal gothic period horror with top notch production values. So why did the idiots at Universal Studios open it now against Barbie & Oppenheimer…instead of October where it belongs.
Really enjoyed this movie. I watched it because it reminded me of the predator sections from the Arkham Batman games. The ones where you hide in the environment and knock out the thugs one by one.
The captains log from the book is so creepy and disturbing. I wish they had stuck to it abit more, with the captain to be tied the wheel of the ship with his crew dead. Though I understand the log in the book isn't long so I'm willing to forgive the changes haha
I agree so much with Clemens around 7:30-7:59. Everything he wants can't purchased. For what he wants is to understand the world. I would find immortality simply because its gives me a means to learn about everything.
Yeah.... but you realize it's not faithful to the story it's based on right? On the original novel, the "main" characters are the captain and his mate, the last two remaining survivors. There is no magical black man that knows everything and there is no mary sue woman badass. This is once again hollywood pushing woke agendas through classical literature adaptions. What a shame.
@@concernedandequal1928You're right. You can't imagine how much it frustrates me to see Hollywood waste so much potential and resources to create again and again movies/TV series soiled by wokeness. I wish I had the resources to create those classics we wish we could experience 😔

Dracula seemed to look more like Count Orlok (from the movie Nosferatu) in The Last Voyage of The Demeter. This is something I particularly liked about the movie.
You don't disappoint with your tone of story telling. :) I like this movie but if someone doesn't like vampire stories he or she won't start here sadly. I like the comparision of the slow burn of the Alien movie, I like the actors and actress. And I like the evolution of Dracula here. He had to regress himself to his primal form for the journey? The amount of charming womanizer vampires and Twilight stories we needed to show Dracula as a Force of nature.
I've always loved Liam Cunningham since I saw him in a movie about the Irish War of Independence called 'The wind that shakes the Barley' directed by Ken Loach. A fantastic movie starring a young Cillian Murphy. I would highly recommend but viewer discretion is advised as the subject matter is pretty heavy
This movie was great IMO. It was very dark and this version of Dracula was scary as hell. My only takeaway is that I wanted to see Dracula be a little more savage on terms of his feeding. I felt as if they held back when it came to that. As the monster that he is, it would've been cool to see him rip out his victims throats/see the pain, agonizing terror as he feeds on the crew members.
Why wouldn't you be well for starters you kids are never satisfied if he had been made to look more like Bela Lugosi or Gary Olman you would have posted negatively about hat as well. Kids are NEVER Satisfied. @@StephenBrown-xf7dd
@@StephenBrown-xf7ddconsidering Dracula is an incredibly intelligent and long lived creature, and needs to safely make it across the ocean, it would make sense he’d play it smart until the tail end of the journey. I believe in the books it’s explained they caught on, but by then it was too late. Dracula would probably only be savage towards the end, especially if he doesn’t want people seeing that cargo and getting too suspicious of the fact that it’s the only thing that survived the voyage. Back then, superstition was absolutely a living, viable thing and they’d probably think something cursed happened on the ship. Dracula seemed to play it smart, which… that’s what I’d expect. In fact, I’m surprised he wasn’t smarter in this.
Agreed! He is highly intelligent henced how he rationed out all of the crew members until he got to London. I thought we would see more of him feeding instead of the quick kills like we saw with the chef once he left in the lifeboat.

It’s honestly one of my favorite horror movies of the year next to Evil Dead Rise
I guess only Dracula can moves during a daylight only weaken his power but his vampire thrall were too weak to feel the sun because their vampiric blood is not as strong as Dracula
What i loved about this movie was how logical everyone behaved. No cheap bad decisions to push the horror. Problem with the crew's logic was that they didnt know shit about a vanpire. Great example was when they placed snipers in the crow's nest without knowing Dracula could fly. Also, the slow realization the crew had that they NEVER had a chance at all and were only alive because Dracula was rationing his food supply was great. Even when the guy survived at the end, he learns Dracula left him alive just to torment him longer.
I quite enjoyed it. The scene with Dracula getting the boy was creepy. There were flaws, but it was athmospheric and the creature was well done. I rather have a problem with the initial concept. It is not like they are travelling from New York to London. Varna to London means there are so many ports where they could escape. They could also simply set fire to the ship at sunrise and sail away with the rescue boat to safety. He can't escape in the sun so he either drowns or burns. The end. But given the restrictions of the source material it was quite well done.
Well, the movie justifies the reason why they did not decide to stop at any of the ports. There were no signs that the ship was set on fire when it was found in the novel, the movie also justifies why they were initially against the idea of destroying the ship. Given the fact that there was also a storm, I am not sure that your flaws have a proper foundation.
@@eloigillarty3285 I had the impression that they said there is no other port along the way or I may have misheard. And I perfectly understand why at least the captain would be against leaving and scuttling the ship. But the second it became clear what they were dealing it becomes a simple and foolproof solution. But yeah I get it, then the story ends. Still quite well made film. I would be curious to see how Clemmens meets Van Helsing while chasing Dracula in London. If they ever made a sequel he could join the posse from the original storyline. It was a nice touch that he didn't believe in the supernatural at first, being a man of science.
I loved this and would love to see a second movie following clemens around the abbey and london trying to figure out who the vampire is. I think it was an odd choice in timing releasing it in august and not october.
While I liked the film myself and would be curious about how a sequel would follow Clemson and the story further. I don't see a sequel happening unless the streaming and physical media sales for this film explode, because the international distribution company for this film was bought out and so the film had no international distribution as I now several people in England very sad they couldn't see this film. So given the budget with only a U.S. release I doubt it made enough money to warrant a sequel.
I liked this movie a lot. It has it's flaws, but is still very enjoyable. My biggest gripe though is the very end. If they cut out the voice over revenge plot, and just let the scene play out without talking, I think they would have one of the best and chilling endings ever.
I just finished the movie and it was pretty mid for me, they had great ideas for what could have easily happened in the book, but there's some things that just pulled me out of the film. I won't ruin the end, but it was very inconsistent for dramatic effect at the last encounter with the count on the Demeter, but it was the introduction of two of the new characters (for checks most likely) that really pulled me out. Not that they didn't do fine acting, but story wise it turned a movie that could have been a vampire version of alien into your typical vow of revenge ending that if you've even vicariously read or even heard the original story, knows the character that makes it doesn't do anything in the end because of the original book. I understand that changes should be made to at least attempt to stir things up a bit, but it really could have been better than what they made, I even like the more simplistic depiction of dracula than something that they could have easily done, but being a history enthusiast they came very close to jumping the shark. Not bad, but could have been great.
if this movie was released in the u.k,spain, italy, and a few other european countries and india this movie would have been the hit it deserved to be.why universal decided to release it when there was so much overseas distribution problems is behond me.if they had waited a few months until they sorted the distribution problems out the demeter could have been a huge hit.
I will still see it, pity about the ending being different but thanks to some of the reviews here it's now a certainty .Thanks for the great work as always and kudos to your fans giving good reviews.
I would hurry if you want to experience it on the big screen. The genius suits at Universal opened it against Barbie & Oppenheimer. The cinematography and sound design/score are incredible.
I think the movie was okay and contrary to what might have been planned and what is said here, having seen Dracula, I don't feel another movie in between is necessary. I think Dr. Clemens stupidly fell into the trap by following Dracula outside at night while he knew damn well how to kill him during the day. Hence, I think the dear doctor dies even before the ending credits finish rolling.
I've never read the original Dracula, but after seeing this movie I should definitely look into it. Personally, I loved the film. Did it have problems? Of course it did: It didn't need to be two hours long, some of the more depressing moments dragged on, Dracula didn't have a whole lot of personality, and that tacked on, sequel-bait ending was really unneeded. Still, I had a great time with the film. They did a fantastic job re-capturing the atmosphere and feelings of isolation, dread and horror from Alien, to the point where I had trouble sleeping the night after I watched the film. The characters were likable despite not having a whole lot to them, Bear McCreary's score, while not his best, is still great to listen to, and then there's Dracula himself. Despite his lacking personality, I loved this Jeepers Creepers-esque take on the character. Compared to the many, *many* incarnations of Dracula in the past (let's see: a tragic sexyman figure, a straight up over-the-top monster, an entity with nearly enough power and presence to rival a Lovecraftian Old One, Bela Lugosi and his immitaters, etc, to everything in-between), this honestly felt like a fresh take on him. On that note, while I dislike the sequel-bait ending, there were elements about it that I liked, like the idea of Clemens becoming a Van Helsing-type character, and Dracula's 'human' disguise being a nod to Count Orlok from Nosferatu (which also, again, gave me severe Jeepers Creepers vibes. As in they could pass for creepy old humans from afar, but up close, that's when you know something is very wrong and you wanna run for it). Overall, is it my favorite horror-monster film of the year? Probably not, Evil Dead: Rise is more enjoyable for me, but I think its a great and well-made film that I hope will become a cult classic in the future.
I have been waiting for this! Thank you! I was actually born in Romania~ Can you do a video on The Butcher (2006)? Literally no one has knows about this movie and I havent seen anyone review it. I liked it though :)

Absolutely, he was still weak because he wasn't feeding. So for them to sink the Demeter I personally don't think he would've made it because in theory he would've had to fly during the day plus without blood he wouldn't have made it to London.
@@StephenBrown-xf7dd basically just get everyone that isn't infected on deck and prepare the remaining lifeboat and have the seacocks opened and send him down to Davy Jones Locker. And better yet, it should be in the day.
Not just that, even if he survived the ship and made it to dry land and avoided the sun, his boxes of his native soil would be gone so he would have nowhere to rest during the day.
From the chapter of the Darcula novel when he left Transylvania for London. It was a short chapter but still pretty terrifying being that there wasn't anyone abored the Demeter one it reached London.
I do like the monsterous look of Dracula in the film yeah his gas bought on take one page from the original novel never expected much what Dracula did during his sailing to England.
The sag aftra strikes most likely made sure this movie didn’t get enough publicity. The reason why it got 6.5 mill with their 45 mil budget. Don’t think it was bad for it to have that outcome. It was very enjoyable and it’s just all the Hollywood drama tanking the film
Only a special kind of crew knowing Dracula will die in sunlight, as seen with the others infected who were exposed to sunlight, would forge a plan to wait till the sun goes DOWN to attempt to kill Dracula by sinking the ship with fire and fleeing in rafts 🤪. If they just sunk the ship with the sun UP most the people would have lived and Dracula would have died 🧠.
I mean they sorta had plans to actually kill it too maybe lol, not just hoping to sink it and he wouldn’t come out in the sun under any circumstances, least that’s the only reason them doing it at night makes ANY sort of sense 😂 but yeah didn’t make sense I
Agreed, what would have been better is a kind of “Survive the night” third act as they try and delay long enough for the crew to sink the ship at dawn and the remaining crew is picked of one by one, with the last scene being the captain tied to the mast whilst Dracula feeds on him, just as the sun begins to rise. Fits the lore better, no contrived plot convenience, adds to the hopeless tone, all in all a better ending
The problem with burning the ship down is the movie is constrained by the novel it's based on. It has to make it to Britain even if burning it down makes more sense
@@skyranger1366 Exactly, what some people just can't seem to understand is that the movie follows a blueprint that was already laid out in chapter 7 of the novel.
My opinion is they actually thought this was going to be popular enough to afford a sequel or “cinematic universe” to build on hence they went off of the source material and tried to set up the one guy to be the nemesis of Dracula. It failed and now instead of making a decent tie in movie to a beloved classic novel we get an ok vampire horror movie that ends with a lame sequel bait to a series that will never be. Sucks because I was originally really excited for this until I heard about the last half of the movie just breaking away from source material so badly
Have you read the book. I mean creative liberties and all.. the chapter in the book is only 16 pages. I think he did admirable making a 2 hour motion picture off of 16 pages...........
Myself I do agree there were several changes done for a couple of reasons. Some were done to really build out the story of the voyage for a feature length film. Others were done more so because of the mindset of Hollywood today particularly the addition of Clemson and Anna and those two characters while played well were done to check very specific boxes of film today. I would have been interested to see how a sequel would have played because I do think Clemson would have taken the part of one of the other characters from Stoker's novel, as I've read Sherlock Holmes meets Dracula and in that parts are change to insert Holmes primarily for the part of Van Helsing and Watson for several parts if Johnathan. So curious what this film would have done for a sequel.
Despite the weird echos in beginning.. from whats been said here this sounds pretty interesting, even a bit new an original, in ways rarely or mever seen. Never seen or heard of a horror movie like this while those in it are ALSO trapped with whatever is plaguing them somewhere with nowhere to go quite like THIS yet
You have never heard of a "trapped with a monster and everybody dies" movie before? Alien, Predator, The Thing, The Descent, Evil Dead etc etc. It's the cheapest and easiest way to create fear and doesn't really work today anymore on its own which is why the movie bombed.
@@yaldabaoth2 except that even in THIS one... In ALL of those NOT everyone died.. there's always one, maybe 2, allegedly lucky survivors.. a NEW one of those, hasn't been done in quite a long time now. Less than a week ago a whole lot of platforms started recommending Dracula related stuff. The control this "algorithms" have is what truly horrifies me.
I wish the Dark Universe Vlad the Impaler did better. Vlad the Impaler is such an interesting character in history and though they are not directly connected i always loved combining the two, doing more stuff when when he was Vlad is always great
While this movie looks great, what would've also worked would be making Dracula look more human. Like imagine they found someone who looked like Bela Lugosi and went with the original Universal design. It honestly would've been creepier, plus it would connect with the original movie.
For me, the fact that he wasn't human was what I loved most. His human guise is always an affectation or tool he uses to make it easier to find and later feed upon his prey. Aboard that ship with no intention to leave witnesses, Dracula doesn't HAVE to be human. It's a story when Dracula is at his most liberated, where he can be true to his nature: a monster.
Naah that's been done to death (pun intended) this movie hearkens back to a time where monsters existed, and since the beast does take the form of a man, what is so wrong with seeing him as he really is?
Change and alternate interpretations are a good thing, the stories been told over and over again, not eveything needs to be word for word from a book we read.
Wasn't a fan on how they left a survivor but then I figure Clemens won't be in the Van helsing party that kills Dracula so in turn Clemens will forever be haunted and paranoid searching for a monster even when its dead Honestly a fate worse than death and unlike Van Helsing's group Clemens won't ever have any closure or peace of mind
It's interesting you bring that up about not being in the Van Helsing party, given the mindsets of Hollywood today I wouldn't have put it past them to very possibly have the character Clemson out right replace one of the original characters from the book like Arthur Homewood or Quincy Morris, but very much be apart of the story.
I agree that he will be tormented for the rest of his existence or even go crazy if he never sees him again. Dracula could also kill Clemens once he admits that he is afraid of him. Dracula is just ruthless.
So there is a tale there, the film lost its international distribution when another company bought the IN Distributor and that part fell by the wayside. And after a rough opening weekend I didn't see anymore trailers or ads for it. So no international and liw domestic returns the film quickly fell out of view.
Would it have been too much to ask, to just have Liam Cunningham be the Lead as the Captain? I had some hope when I learned of that casting choice but they did everything in their power to replace him with another set of generic young protagonists no one cares about. The Movie could have been a shorter, more consistent experience that doesn’t rely on so much dull hollywood spectacle. Which would have been refreshing among all the vanity projects competing over who can have the most unnecessarily bloated runtime.
Gotta be honest by admitting that I watched the movie, saw Dracula lift Clemens' by his throat but I don't remember him saying those words.
@scrooge1913 Considering the fact it was his first line he delivered that wasn't mimicking someone else. I found it fitting. He's been f'ing with everyone up until this point. I am in the minority when I enjoyed that last scene where Dracula hits the floor with his cane in a familiar pattern, letting our main character know.... "You live because I deem it so" That's mastery, yes fishing for sequel but it was done with taste.
I thought it was more of a “remember me?” Type of thing

Or they kept hitting pot holes and didn't want to be around for his Uber rating

Also they stored him with his dirt and a body to feed on for the voyage @@nomahfuckah2080
I enjoyed this movie a lot. Toby’s death broke my heart. The dread of being on board a ship with Dracula was palpable.

It was a screamer, loved it. Eerie and downright gruesome
In the original movie and book, Dracula needed soil from his native land in order to regenerate so I think the other coffins were just full of dirt.
Have you never seen the Halloween movies?
This is one character of the novel! So if they throw the coffin off.. where do we go??
Right if I was the crew I would have tossed all boxes with that symbol on it to the waves
I need this story to continue it was a great horror movie and one of the best I’ve seen in a while
I really liked the movie, but didn't understand why they didn't sit on this film a few months and release it around Halloween, surely a horror/thriller Dracula film would do better around Halloween and not on the tail end of summer.
Dracula don't want them hands
If you thought you could buy your group a few extra moments to try and flee, wouldn't you?
That's the idea though. Clemens is now HUNTING Dracula. It's a cat-and-mouse game between the two and do you really think that Clemens would be ill-prepared? Trap or not, Clemens already knows what he's dealing with.

This movie was great IMO. It was very dark and this version of Dracula was scary as hell. My only takeaway is that I wanted to see Dracula be a little more savage on terms of his feeding. I felt as if they held back when it came to that.

Reading the book wouldn't make you hate the movie... 😂😂😂

A second movie could also bring in other characters from the book ❤

Absolutely 👏

Exactly what I'm saying. Contrived as hell

The black guy survives and becomes a hunter of dracula? Boy, didn't see that coming..
Yep. Box checked. In the book they were Romanians and a Russian. Guess that wasn’t ethnic or diverse enough.
I would love to see a version of The Hunting of Dracula with Clemens. I think it would be very interesting deviation.
An having just 1 EVERYONE dies in a horror movie like THAT you said... Can count one hand how many movies left with TRULY no survivors.
Excellent movie. 👍🏿👍🏿
Less than a week ago a whole lot of platforms started recommending Dracula related stuff.
The control this "algorithms" have is what truly horrifies me.
I wish the Dark Universe Vlad the Impaler did better. Vlad the Impaler is such an interesting character in history and though they are not directly connected i always loved combining the two, doing more stuff when when he was Vlad is always great
Hope I'll enjoy it on the big screen Is much as dramatic untold. I always love a new take on Dracula.
While this movie looks great, what would've also worked would be making Dracula look more human. Like imagine they found someone who looked like Bela Lugosi and went with the original Universal design. It honestly would've been creepier, plus it would connect with the original movie.
I would vote that they actually based this version more off of the “Nosferatu” design, which was made before the original universal film
@@coralcrown562well now..💯
Sighs
Naah that's been done to death (pun intended) this movie hearkens back to a time where monsters existed, and since the beast does take the form of a man, what is so wrong with seeing him as he really is?
This movie kinda reminds me of the thing when the crew decided to sacrifice themselves to stop the monster from getting civilization
Change and alternate interpretations are a good thing, the stories been told over and over again, not eveything needs to be word for word from a book we read.
I hope this movie gets a sequel
For me the perfect depiction is ep 1 & 2 of Netflix limited series “Dracula”
They do this whole storyline as the 2nd episode.
Just got done watching this a few hours ago and it was pretty good
I liked it I really hope they make another!!!
Wasn't a fan on how they left a survivor but then I figure Clemens won't be in the Van helsing party that kills Dracula so in turn Clemens will forever be haunted and paranoid searching for a monster even when its dead
Honestly a fate worse than death and unlike Van Helsing's group Clemens won't ever have any closure or peace of mind
That's an interestinf point...
I do like your breakdowns of media. Cheers
Pls make a video on A Nightmare on Elm Street
Probably didn’t do well at the box office because they failed to market this film properly. This is the first I had even heard of it…
So there is a tale there, the film lost its international distribution when another company bought the IN Distributor and that part fell by the wayside. And after a rough opening weekend I didn't see anymore trailers or ads for it. So no international and liw domestic returns the film quickly fell out of view.
I didn’t even know this was coming out until an email from AMC for opening weekend
My fav director.... especially the autopsy of Jane doe...
Love the review and Video can you do the Second world war and Cyber wars from Doctor who and Amnesia Lore Videos
I liked the change from the captain but I wish they made it more ominous with all them dying and the journal being what ppl find
This Dracula adaptation is good fr I enjoy it a lot and he’s seriously terrifying this and Dracula untold are my favorite adaptations of Dracula
I'm not asking for a damn arthouse movie, just something that isn't so painfully conventional.
Super random but I would love to get this channels to break down some of the episodes of live death and robots, bits become one of my favorite show of the past few years
I'll say this right here: This is what Dracula Untold should've been!
