Just want to point out point out a few mistakes made that would really alter the buyers decision. 1. You don’t have to upgrade to the discover navigation radio on the T-Cross to get 4 USB ports, that come with the composition media unit which is standard on this highline model. 2. The use of materials between the cars differs in that that dash board of the polo gets ‘soft touch’ plastic as opposed to the hard plastic you’ve shown on the T-Cross. 3. Wireless charging is standard on the highline T-Cross and optional on all other trim levels and is also OPTIONAL on all polos. I get that the vehicle costs are high but giving inaccurate information as to what you get and what you need to spend extra on doesn’t help to add appeal to the car, so please double check your info before misleading the consumer. Don’t mean to be ‘that’ person complaining in the comments but I had to give my 2 cents worth.
T Cross is overpriced. Comfortline models do not even have Apple Carplay or Android auto as standard. The Ford Ecosport Trend model is a 30K saving over the VW and its interior is of better quality. Soft touch dash etc. SA consumers are blindsided by the VW badge. The T Cross may look the part from the outside, but in reality its an overpriced Polo.
Might as well get a polo GTi for that much, at least you'll have fun and a decent resale value. R360K for a scooter engine? Lol. If you want practically then you should probably get a used Tiguan/Rav4/CX5...
What a disappointment this t cross is. Was waiting for over a year for it to come. Small. Cheap plastic interior. R430k for a 1.0tsi engine on the only model that really looks good. Disgusting waste of money. I'll rather stick to my 13 yr old 185000km car for now until something better comes my way
Hi buddy Maybe not hey. Look for sub 50k km cars such at Honda CRV or Hrv ... Sedans Volvo S60 previous model Actually these are much cheaper than a flimsy Polo on heels
Why didnt you guys put the Rline Tcross up against the Rline Polo just to be fair in the looks department.. that beats polo doesnt look anything like the Rline..
Muito bacana, ver a avaliação de vocês. Temos os mesmos carros aqui no Brasil e no CANAL SOLER também os testamos, mas confessamos que gostamos muito de ver o seu REVIEW. Parabéns!
Another great video, guys! 18" wheels really make no sense on a 1 litre car. They are only there for the bling value.Get 16" with higher profile tyres. More comfortable ride, cheaper and you may actually be able to take your T Cross on a gravel road.
I’d thought THE major reason for choosing the t-cross over the polo is that it is a bit more capable on gravel? First time I learn the major consideration for a SUV is boot space? 😳
I'm a mum to a two year old and looking at buying a car next year. One of the first things I look at is the boot space. It wasn't a priority before having my child.
I think it's quite interesting how the majority of the comments on this video seem to be negative about the T-Cross but sales figures are through the roof? (At least in the opening weeks of it going on sale). I absolutely love it though and would definitely get one over the Polo, I think it looks better and the price difference is negligible. Just a pity about the sunroof, that's a very appealing option that I would very much like on the T-Cross.
You did not mention anything about the ride height and the seat height difference between the two which, especially for older clients, will be the deciding factor
I drive a Tcross Comfortline in R-line spec. Other than the frustrating DSG in slow traffic and a few rattles here and there, this car is perfect for the city with its ease of use and comfort. Furthermore, the ability to sit high up in the Tcross as in a proper SUV, is a boon compared to the Polo...
I don't know. The only Polo I would buy is the beats version because in other executions prices rise quickly and the beats version is more 'sports'. It costs 321.619 Rand in Belgium ie with some essential options and no open roof. I don't like the appearance of a T-cross and you rarely see them in our streets. Then I would save more and buy a T-Roc which costs 379000 Rand and I think then you will have a decent car. So to see is Volkswagen not cheap in South Africa. But in America they let their for MUCH less than in Belgium. Well thank you VW.
Factually incorrect with the cars being tested. The Beats edition of the Polo is based on the Comfortline, and not the Highline. They don’t have the same wheel sizes, 16 inch vs 18 inch wheels, even the power outputs are different.
Great review thanks C. I get why you are reviewing these. From one of your previous reviews you advised that one of the top selling cars in ZA is the Polo. Makes sense.
@@Slow_Horsehey i have a t-roc for a few years now and honestly its not a bad car but its not great either. But thats just my opinion so if you really want it go for it
Sir remember the VW T Cross is a mall SUV whereas the Polo isnt so why would you say the T cross is a shrink ? certainly larger the Polo does not fall nto the SUV segment same engines so the T Cross is only 100kg heavier than the Polo!!!!!!!
I don't get keyless start at all. What's the use? Then you key just end up in some random cubby or pocket where it gets scratched and damages the car. Just put key in ignition, turn and off you go.
Ciro you should have viewed the POLO DSG AUTOMATIC GEAR BOX why diod you view the manual gear box in comparison like the T - CROSS DSG THIS DOESNT MAKE SENSE FOR THE BUYER?
Why? Why do I need to upgrade the infotainment to get 2 usb..... In the back?!? That makes no sense, VW! About fuel usages, I have been told by t-cross owners that they do spend more than a Polo, noticeably more.
Those prices are crazy! Modern throwaway cars... expensive, beautiful and relatively reliable when new, but not so a few years down the line, never mind 20-30 years later like many 80s and 90s classics. No thank you, I'll stick with my reliable and well-engineered MB W124!
Price is nice until options. I drive a second hand that doesn't have built in Bluetooth and that cost me only R150 to add so now I just run Google's Android auto as an app on the phone.
Polo touches the ground when driving on gravel roads with sand in the middle. T cross would be the perfect polo for someone that regularly drives on gravel
So that R has a drie been pot engine? Sjoe... but anyway, great review! Its about time you did things like this. Don't know what you've been doing all this time.
More space in the boot. Also, it may not be that higher off the ground but you have ever driven in snow or pulled out of snow cover car parks then you definitely appreciate every bit of height you have.
Is it just my perception or is the steering wheel (at least in the T-Cross) as thick rimmed as a New York City bagel? I can't currently buy either car as they are not sold in the U.S. but I think I would buy the Polo if wireless charging was available and I would have to spec a sunroof (is a sunroof available in the T-Cross?).
Good for South Africans. Unlike Indian, where we still have a 10 year old Polo. And we can't even compare 5 year difference models, cause they are all the same. 😜
Why are all the cars always Gauteng registered yet all the Reviews in Cape town... It kills me every time, someone must drive that far every time, really??
"its also a bit inconvenient becoz then your passengers cant have any legs"..LMAO,almost spilled my coffee, Ciro is such a fool!
"As you might expect these cars are powered by Engines" 😂😂😂 revolutionary reveal! No one experrrerritt!
So it is not a flinstone drive
Have you heard of the electric revolution happening outside Africa and South America?
Honestly only reason I'd have the T cross is because of the crime rate in our country. Polos are known high risk cars
No need this cars share same engine if hijacker customer wants POLO engine they will hijack t cross also
Cars are becoming too expensive.... A flipin polo costs that much.
They come standard with way more equipment and they are bigger, so i kinda understand the price increase.
Still, they could be cheaper.
Vw is becoming more premium. That's why you have Skoda. Essentially vw, but cheaper.
Why not compare both R-line???
Exactly what I was thinking

T-cross👌, It's very stressful to buy a right better car, but you always make it easy with your comparison videos. Big up Ciro👍

Most agreed. South Africans are running far a plastic silver badge thinking thats its a better car
The ecosport is ugly, very ugly, to be sincere, and it’s also slower IRL.
Reviews that care about us little people
Definitely neither! VW is totally over-priced with no aftersales service. Sorry.
Might as well get a polo GTi for that much, at least you'll have fun and a decent resale value. R360K for a scooter engine? Lol. If you want practically then you should probably get a used Tiguan/Rav4/CX5...

" Hello and welcome to the inside of a car" lol hahahaha

I'd go for the Polo with some options ticked
Muito bacana, ver a avaliação de vocês. Temos os mesmos carros aqui no Brasil e no CANAL SOLER também os testamos, mas confessamos que gostamos muito de ver o seu REVIEW. Parabéns!
The only reason I'd go for the POLO is the sliding SUNROOF which the T-CROSS hasn't.
And the better looks for a cheaper price.
The only reason i would go for T-Cross is... idk i think it sucks
Another great video, guys!

the 18" look comical. they're just way too big
Who is this guy?
I have never been so entertained by a car review.
Loved it and subscribing.
one can get wireless charging with the polo ... slip of the tongue there Ciro?
Save yourself some time and money and Go and buy the Haval H2. Much bigger, faster, and cheaper oh did i also mention much BETTER!
U forgot to mention... with the polo u will also be highjacked in South Africa. Good luck with that.
Free of charge...factory fitted lmao.
CIRO must get salary increase

Ciro and cars.co.za are thee best car reviewers
I love this t cross it's really a cool looking car I like it and this review and car channel is the best keep it up guys 😊😁👍
Ciro, Mark Watson is reviewing La Ferraris and u here in a polo. Let's catch up
I found this review reallly helpful in making my decision. And definitely il be going for the Rline polo. Looks better to
T cross just for ground clearance
wow what a great review and what an expensive car...R430k is too much
DUUUUUDE!!! I’d rather buy some German sports car

I agree on the seating position. I think it is actually more of a consideration than internal space.
Have the same Tcross, just wondering what you mean with the dsg issue?

I’ve had T Cross for 20 months and I love it. If I was going for a hatchback I’d have a Golf rather than a Polo anyway. T Roc is next on my wish list.
Those are B Fuking SUV!! Just buy Tucson

The real story here is how the polo is so expensive. There is no way I'm getting a polo when I can get a bigger more comfortable car.
Uhmmmm the cheaper one??

Ahhh but of course. 40k overlap😂

I don't get keyless start at all. What's the use? Then you key just end up in some random cubby or pocket where it gets scratched and damages the car.
Just put key in ignition, turn and off you go.
I already bought the Polo 1.0 TSI 70 KW petrol Comfortline : get 16 - 22.6km/L
I was shocked to find out the t cross dash is all hard plastic when I had a first ride recently but it does look great. I’d go with polo due to price
I personally would go for a Polo anytime
Your reviews are the best Ciro De Siena
Hey m from India.
what about the difference in ground clearance
No air vents at t rear of the T cross? Thanks for the information very useful.
I personally wouldn't have either, the second hand market is a great place for some really nice cars
And in the Polo you have a sunroof option that you do not get in the T-cross
Ciro you should have viewed the POLO DSG AUTOMATIC GEAR BOX why diod you view the manual gear box in comparison like the T - CROSS DSG THIS DOESNT MAKE SENSE FOR THE BUYER?
For plus/minus R360K for a 3 cylinder polo?? 😮🤔🤔mmm....
Why? Why do I need to upgrade the infotainment to get 2 usb..... In the back?!?
That makes no sense, VW!
About fuel usages, I have been told by t-cross owners that they do spend more than a Polo, noticeably more.
You should buy the one you like.
This t cross got a stiff competition with the vitara and reanalt duster in the competition
I wish people can go beyond Brand Loyalty. New Captur will be much better than T-Cross
For me to own a Tcross 🕯 🕯️ 🕯️ 🕯️ 🕯️
How is fuel consumption and power on the T cross?
sbo nzama it’s good
I wouldnt buy one its a dinky toy
Wouldn't buy either. Overpriced and under speced. Options are ludicrously expensive
400k 🤣🤣🤣I would go buy a slightly used Toyota hilux diesel double cab.

Which one should you buy..? Easy! A Skoda Kamiq for all those lovely soft touch plastics which are oddly missing in the T-Cross.
We don't get Skoda in South Africa (yet?)
@@skerminkel9971 Let's hope they arrive in ZA soon - at least before VW mandate that they become a true budget brand. There are already rumblings...

I'd rather neither. I'd rather an Asian car that breaks less and costs less to buy and fix when it does break.
You should compare the R-Line T Cross with a R-Line Polo.
So that R has a drie been pot engine? Sjoe... but anyway, great review! Its about time you did things like this. Don't know what you've been doing all this time.
i have never liked low profile tires for to bumpy ride compared to standard!
More space in the boot. Also, it may not be that higher off the ground but you have ever driven in snow or pulled out of snow cover car parks then you definitely appreciate every bit of height you have.
In 15 years it will be nothing but SUV's on the roads, RIP traditional cars

I can't currently buy either car as they are not sold in the U.S. but I think I would buy the Polo if wireless charging was available and I would have to spec a sunroof (is a sunroof available in the T-Cross?).
