  • Sooner or later, any piece of hardware becomes obsolete, and combat vehicles are no exception. With the arrival of new weapons, better armour and more sophisticated technologies, all vehicles inevitably come to a point when they have to be phased out. With that said, some of them remain in service for many decades, sometimes despite the fact that they had a fair share of flaws when they were first introduced. Today we’re going to talk about those long-lasting veterans: vehicles that can still kick some serious butt despite their age.

      @@Ahmed_Hasan_ Ch'ônma-ho and P'okp'ung-ho. They are heavily modernized and modified T-62s. Intelligence suggests that NKPA does field T-72s, T80Us, and various other tanks, but it's difficult to get accurate intelligence concerning NKPA equipment out there. They don't call it the "Hermit Kingdom" for nothing. Not very much is known about that new tank seen last year. The hull looks to be based on the T-14 Armata but with a manned turret. It could be an export model of the T-14, or maybe a result of the Russians sharing technology with the North Korean government. Hopefully we will be able to learn more about it before too much time passes.

    Fun fact : in Indonesia, there's a single M3 Stuart still in "active service" as a showpiece, it's hull number is 40-32, it's captured from the Netherlands and was used by the Indonesian army at the time, when the army was modernized, all of the Stuarts were either scrapped or became monuments except for two tanks, however one of them was cannibalized for spare parts for the 40-32 and is now a monument in Palembang, so this tank is the only one running in the whole country, the tank is intended to be preserved in running condition for as long as possible, the tank still kept it's original engine with spare parts still dating from WW2, it's cannon was even still working, though there was no ammunition to fire it, all in all, the tank was almost 100% original, with the exception of some antennas being decorations and it's spark plug from an AMX-13, it is now stationed at Pussenkav (Cavalry Weapon Centre) in Bandung.
    And a bit off topic here, but the tank was so old supernatural stuff began happening to it, there's a case where the engine suddenly turned on by itself, lights turning on by itself, and a certain fragrant smell which in Indonesia usually indicates a supernatural presence.
    There are also some old tanks still serving the Indonesian army, both AMX-13 and PT-76s are still in service with the army and marines respectively, both have upgraded with newer weapons and FCS, with the AMX-13 receiving a new 105mm gun and the PT-76 receiving a new 90mm gun

    • @panzerlite8108
      @panzerlite8108 3 роки тому +27

      IS-7 with ERA armor is a scary thought. The IS-7 was the best tank by leagues when it was designed. It had a very high top speed with good acceleration, easy crew handling, and armor that no weapon it would come across could dream of punching through. Unfortunately, though the vehicle was the most praised of any at the time and highly loved by nearly everyone who was involved with it, it never saw mass production due to doctrine issues. The reason they decided not to employ the vehicle was simply because a tank that can't reliably get to the battlefield is not worth the effort. I believe this was not a great choice and IS-7s should have been homeland defense.

    • @evilfurryfromnowhere4100

      The "Tank of extreme parameters" is an incredibly expensive, heavy tank, produced individually, but having incredible parameters of protection and firepower.The idea was proposed by engineer Shashmurin, the father of heavy Soviet tank construction. With the death of comrade Stalin, the projects were closed, and the idea was soon completely forgotten and replaced by the idea of mass MBT. If this had not happened , there would have been heavy and super-heavy tanks with dynamic, combined protection and powerful guns of at least 152mm caliber.
      Imagine an Object 705 with combined and dynamic protection, with a gun of object 120. And this in the 1960s.

      @@Phapchamp A lot of reactive and composite armor actually works better with flat angles, unlike features such as the pike nose on the IS-3. Though there are some exceptions such as Nozh and Duplet, so I do wonder about those.
      Another big issue with heavy tanks is mobility. With powerful and accurate guided missiles (some of which can be guided to attack weakspots such as the top of a tank) and deadlier aircraft, having lots of armor became a bit less useful compared to things such as agility and speed in the modern battlefield (where fast and fluid movement is key).
      While trophy systems that intercept missiles could reduce some of the threats posed by rocket launchers, it is worth noting that advanced and deadly tank ammunition such as APFSDS is still another threat that armor on modern tanks must face, and so avoiding getting hit is often a better option than just taking them.

    You should add a feature that when you land you can change your ordnance loadout. Lets say I was playing a F-4 Phantom and I was bombing away at tanks and now there are enemy aircraft in the skies, I could fly back to base a rearm with a Air to Air loadout instead. Maybe when you land it brings up the "respawn" interface but you can only change the loadout for your plane, or you to change the loadout it might be a certain amount of Spawn Points. Just a idea that might change how the game is played and add more diversity to the battles.
